In a draft that left other teams green with envy, the Phi Eagles swooped in and snagged an A+ grade, leaving no doubt that they mean business in the Vintage Football League. Despite picking 10th in the draft order, the Eagles managed to assemble a roster that has analysts predicting a dominant 13-1-1 record and a first-place finish. With a projected point total of 536, they're ready to spread their wings and fly high above the competition.

While some teams struggled to make their picks count, the Eagles hit the jackpot with their selections. Their best pick of the draft was DeVonta Smith, who was snatched up at 52 despite having an ADP of 29. Talk about a steal! On the flip side, their worst pick was D'Andre Swift, who was chosen at 24 despite having an ADP of 85. But hey, nobody's perfect, right? The Eagles also showed their loyalty by drafting a whopping eight players from the same team, including Jalen Hurts, D'Andre Swift, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, Dallas Goedert, Jake Elliott, and Philadelphia. Looks like they're putting all their eggs in one nest. With a draft like this, the Phi Eagles are poised to take flight and leave their opponents in a tailspin.

Inside the Draft

Player Outlooks

- Round 1, Pick 10 - Bye 10

2023 Rank: 17 - 2022 Rank: 2

Hurts ascended to elite status in 2022, finishing as QB3 for fantasy purposes while posting MVP-quality numbers and leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl. The improvements he made as a passer during his first two seasons in the league paid dividends after the team added A.J. Brown to a receiving corps already headlined by DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. Hurts emerged as one of the NFL's most accurate passers in his third campaign. It's his running ability, however, that takes his production to another level. Nick Sirianni's scheme is designed around his game-breaking ability on the ground, and Hurts' 13 rushing touchdowns were the second most in NFL history by a quarterback. While it's hard to bank on that kind of record-setting performance repeating itself, the league elected not to legislate away the team's "tush push" rugby scrum approach to gaining short yards and getting the ball across the goal line, so double-digit rushing TDs could well be his floor. Hurts may not match the volume or pure passing upside of the likes of Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen, but at 24 years old, his best days should still be ahead of him.

- Round 2, Pick 24 - Bye 13

2023 Rank: 36 - 2022 Rank: 115

A second-round pick in 2020, Swift flashed his talent and upside over three seasons with the Lions but also demonstrated an unfortunate propensity for getting hurt, and he got flipped to the Eagles in the offseason. Having proven he can't hold up under a big workload, the Georgia product could find himself in a somewhat ideal situation in the final year of his rookie contract, as coach Nick Sirianni has leaned toward using a backfield committee during his time at the helm in Philadelphia. The big question will be who's involved in that committee for any particular week in 2023. Miles Sanders is now in Carolina, but Swift will be joined by fellow injury-prone newcomer Rashaad Penny, and holdovers Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott have had their moments in an Eagles uniform. Swift's three-down skill set gives him more versatility than Penny, but the duo could both be extremely effective behind the team's elite offensive line if reduced volume allows them to stay out of the trainer's room.

- Round 3, Pick 38 - Bye 10

2023 Rank: 9 - 2022 Rank: 111

After spending the first three seasons of his career stuck in a run-focused Titans offense that didn't always take advantage of Brown's imposing physicality, the 2019 second-round pick got traded to the Eagles and was unleashed on the NFL. He shattered his career highs in both receiving volume and efficiency nearly across the board, and his presence alongside DeVonta Smith on the outside helped quarterback Jalen Hurts blossom into an MVP candidate. After a run to the Super Bowl, Philadelphia was able to avoid significant turnover on the offensive side of the ball, so there's little reason to expect Brown's usage to decline in 2023. On the other hand, there's little reason to expect it to increase either. Hurts' elite running ability puts a cap on the team's passing volume, and Brown still has to split looks with Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert, although the team's other skill players didn't get used much as receivers last year. Brown will have to rely on big plays and red-zone targets to post elite numbers again, but he's more than capable of doing so.

- Round 4, Pick 52 - Bye 10

2023 Rank: 21 - 2022 Rank: 144

The 10th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Smith followed up his strong rookie campaign with an even better Year 2. Rather than being overshadowed by A.J. Brown after he was acquired from the Titans, the different skill sets of the two wideouts proved to complement each other perfectly, and their presence downfield allowed Jalen Hurts to break out and join the ranks of elite NFL quarterbacks. The two receivers saw similar volumes, and while Brown's size and athleticism made him a better deep threat, Smith's sharp route-running allowed him to pick apart defenses in the intermediate parts of the field. The Eagles had little turnover on the offensive side of the ball after their NFC Championship, so Smith's role figures to remain stable in 2023. He should continue to feature prominently in debates about who the best No. 2 receiver in the league is, alongside Tee Higgins and Jaylen Waddle.

- Round 5, Pick 66 - Bye 6

2023 Rank: 369 - 2022 Rank: 279

While Watkins is the No. 3 wide receiver on paper in a high-powered offense, his numbers in 2022 didn't reflect that role. Tight end Dallas Goedert is the actual third option for quarterback Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia's scheme, and even when Goedert was out of action last year, the Eagles showed they would rather keep the ball in Hurts' hands as a runner or feed it to A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith more often rather than dish it off to players with less big-play potential. Watkins is still viewed as dependable depth, but the 2020 sixth-round pick isn't ever likely to rise above that, and even his current target volume now faces a threat from former Falcons wideout Olamide Zaccheaus.

- Round 6, Pick 80 - Bye 10

2023 Rank: 71 - 2022 Rank: 227

Goedert hasn't played a full schedule since he was a rookie in 2018, and 2022 was no exception. The tight end missed five games last season with a shoulder injury. And yet Goedert still turned in another productive season. Since supplanting Zach Ertz as the Eagles' top tight end, he's averaged more than 10 yards a target and 50 receiving yards a game over the last two years. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are the top weapons for quarterback Jalen Hurts, but Goedert is a capable No. 3 option in an explosive offense that will have a lot of continuity from last season. While his floor is his big selling point from a fantasy perspective, there's room for growth in his red-zone production if defenses find a way to force Philadelphia to shy away from using Hurts on goal-line sneaks. Even without a big spike in his touchdown output, Goedert has plenty of appeal once the elite tight ends are off the board.

- Round 7, Pick 94 - Bye 10

2023 Rank: 230 - 2022 Rank: 37

Sometimes, an offense can be too good, at least when it comes to providing value for its kicker. Elliott led the league in PATs in 2022, but he saw only 23 field-goal attempts as the Eagles' efficiency in the red zone and aggressiveness in going for the big play helped carry the team to the Super Bowl, but didn't leave it settling for three points often. There's little reason to think Elliott's opportunities will increase significantly this season. Philadelphia's scheme and main skill players, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, are unchanged, and coach Nick Siranni will keep calling Hurts' numbers at the goal line until defenses prove they can stop him. Elliott has a decent fantasy floor due to all those PATs, but his upside is lacking.

DEF - Round 8, Pick 108 - Bye 10

2023 Rank: 139 - 2022 Rank: 21

While the Eagles' offense rightfully got plenty of credit for the team's run to the Super Bowl, the team's defense also posted elite numbers in 2022. Philadelphia's 70 sacks not only led the league, it was 15 ahead of second-place Kansas City, while the Eagles were tied for fourth in turnovers and ranked in the top 10 in points per game allowed.Fletcher Cox isn't getting younger, and the offseason saw some big changes in the linebacking corps, but the team re-signed Haason Reddick to a three-year $45 million deal in March to lead the pass rush once again, and Darius Slay and James Bradberry remain one the NFL's best duos at cornerback. Odds are the unit will take at least a small step backwards, as it's hard for things to go that right two seasons in a row, but even with natural regression, this could still be a top-five defense.
