    • Chiefs’ Chris Jones not thinking about retirement
In reference to retirement, Chiefs DT Chris Jones said, “I don’t even want my mind to even go that far.”

Advice: Jones’ teammate, Travis Kelce, previously said he can’t put a timeframe on when he would retire, but plans to play through his contract. Jones said, “We can’t let TK go. It’s like we retire, we’ve got to retire together.” He turns 30 next month and plans to play through the new five-year deal he signed with the Chiefs this offseason. Jones continued, “Give me at least six, four years, then we’ll talk about it.” Jones is still playing at a high level, tallying 10.5 sacks last season. He will aim to contribute to a Chiefs three-peat, while the team keeps the core veterans together for the short-term. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:51 pm

    • Back on IR
Jones (undisclosed) reverted to Seattle's injured reserve list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: After being waived by the Seahawks with an injury designation just two days ago, Jones will stick around in the organization. The nature and severity of Jones' injury are still unknown, but the undrafted rookie out of Troy will need to reach an injury settlement with Seattle in order to have a chance to suit up this season. • Seeks new contract
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday that Godchaux is negotiating a new contract, Michael Giardi of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.

Advice: Mayo said that Godchaux was present at practice Monday but didn't participate. Godchaux has suited up for a full slate of 17 regular-season games in each of his three years with the Patriots, never playing less than 600 defensive snaps in any campaign. He's currently entering the final year of his deal with the team. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:32 am

    • Seahawks tweak Jarran Reed’s contract
ESPN’s Brady Henderson reports the Seahawks ‘tweaked’ DT Jarran Reed’s contract.

Advice: Reed signed a two-year, $10.8 million contract with the Seahawks a last offseason. Henderson reports that the team essentially took $530k from incentives and made it part of the base value of the deal. The salary adjustments seem to give Reed a small contract sweetener and leave him with a deal that retains the same max value, all non-guaranteed. Reed started 16 games for the Seahawks at defensive tackle, totaling seven sacks last season. He now has $370k tied to sack incentives for next season while $530k was taken out and added to Reed’s base salary and in-game bonuses tied to being on the 53-man roster. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:13 pm

    • Back on practice field
Maxwell (knee) is participating in the Bengals' mandatory minicamp, Albert Cesare of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Maxwell, who went undrafted back in 2023, spent his entire rookie season on IR due to a knee injury. Now healthy, the defensive tackle out of Chattanooga will have a chance to compete for a deep depth role on Cincinnati's roster. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:19 pm

    • Team not concerned about injury
Sweat (undisclosed) is not taking part in minicamp this week, but he is expected to be ready for training camp, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Advice: Head coach Brian Callahan told Wyatt the team isn't concerned about Sweat missing time, and he'll continue to put in work leading up to camp. The Texas product was the Titans' second-round selection in the 2024 Draft, and he is expected to be the team's No. 1 option at nose tackle this season. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:31 pm

    • Recovering as scheduled
Head coach Dan Quinn stated Tuesday that Newton is "hitting all of his markers" in his recovery from foot surgery, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Newton underwent surgery on his right foot in January and then had surgery on his left foot in mid-May. The 2024 second-round selection's status for the start of training camp is still to be determined, with the team expected to evaluate his progress weekly. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:00 pm

    • Released from hospital
Thompson (undisclosed) was released from the hospital Monday, Alex Andrejev and Nate Taylor of The Athletic report.

Advice: Thompson is now resting at home four days after having suffered a seizure and cardiac arrest during a special teams meeting at team facilities. The Chiefs will surely take a cautious approach to the 27-year-old's recovery. When ready to retake the field, Thompson will be in position to compete for a depth role at edge rusher while also potentially contributing on special teams. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:48 am

    • Not handling drills at minicamp
Coach Raheem Morris said at practice Tuesday that Jarrett (knee) is still not handling "anything at any speed in terms of team work or drill work" as he continues to rehab from a right ACL tear, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Jarrett missed all but eight games in 2023, recording 23 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. The 31-year-old veteran was never a likely candidate to be back on the field for June minicamp, but training camp in July could see him take further steps forward in his recovery. When recovered, Jarrett will join rookie second-round pick Ruke Orhorhoro and second-year pro Zach Harrison (knee) as a key piece of Atlanta's defensive front. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:51 am
