Player Notes

  • Staying in Pittsburgh
Gentry is set to re-sign with the Steelers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Gentry has been with the Steelers for his first four years in the NFL, but he did not start playing a bigger role until 2021. He has played all 34 games over the previous two years. In that span he accumulated 299 yards on 38 receptions. He projects to back up Pat Freiermuth in 2023. Rotowire.com Saturday, 12:20 pm

  • Chiefs bring Blake Bell back on one-year deal
    Chiefs re-signed TE Blake Bell.

Advice: Bell returns for his fourth season with the Chiefs and will slot into his normal backup role alongside Jody Fortson and Noah Gray. He's caught 60 passes for 641 yards and one touchdown in his career, with his lone touchdown coming in last season's Week 17 matchup against the Broncos. NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 11:31 am

  • Giants add blocking TE Tommy Sweeney
Giants signed TE Tommy Sweeney, formerly of the Bills.

Advice: A 27-year-old blocker, Sweeney has 18 career catches. He, of course, has experience in Brian Daboll's system after the two worked together in Buffalo. Despite the Giants' continued dearth of pass-catching threats, Sweeney's blocking career trajectory will not be changing in the Big Apple.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 1:49 pm

  • Moreau stepping away to fight Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Foster Moreau announced he has been diagnosed Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and will be stepping away from football.

Advice: Moreau took to Twitter to make the announcement, adding that the cancer was found "during a routine physical conducted by the Saint’s medical team down in New Orleans." He expressed gratitude for the support he has received and ended his message by saying, "I’ll go kick this thing’s ass and get back to doing what I love!" It's a deeply sad revelation for a player who was likely going to work his way into a starting role on a new team this year. We all look forward to seeing Moreau's return to football, whenever that may be.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 7:39 pm

  • Vegas adds Austin Hooper to help fill Waller void
Raiders signed TE Austin Hooper, formerly of the Titans, to a one-year, $2.8 million contract.

Advice: Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Hooper can boost his deal to as much as $3.5 million through incentives. The Raiders previously added O.J. Howard following their move to trade Darren Waller to New York. If both players make the roster, Hooper will likely take on more work as a blocker with Howard primarily running routes. Hooper is coming off a quiet season as a pass-catcher, totaling just 37 catches for 406 yards and a single touchdown. Though there will be more passing volume to go around in Vegas, his days as a fantasy-relevant tight end appear to be behind him. NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 3:59 pm
