  • Prescott expects to get deal done after season
Dak Prescott is “optimistic” he’ll reach a long-term deal with the Cowboys after the season.

Advice: The Cowboys were never close in offseason talks — Prescott wanted less years and more money than Dallas offered. It’s still surprising Prescott’s agent didn't lock down a deal. The Cowboys drafted CeeDee Lamb and added an improved support cast,  but it's going to be hard for Prescott to build off the 306 YPG he averaged in 2019. We’d expect Prescott’s extension to get done after this year — a step back or injury would potentially complicate things. The Cowboys can franchise Prescott a second time for $38 million — a 20 percent increase from this year's tag. Today, 3:59 pm

  • Buscaglia: McDermott could outlive Allen in BUF
The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia believes Bills coach Sean McDermott "could outlive" Josh Allen in Buffalo if the third-year pro "doesn’t show marked improvement in the next two seasons."

Advice: Buscaglia is just stating the obvious, but it is worth stating after McDermott received a four-year extension earlier this week. McDermott has made a recent habit of talking about how important the quarterback position is, a not-so-subtle hint that Allen needs to improve. Allen made modest progress last season but remained a sub-60 percent passer, failing to hit enough big plays to compensate for that lack of accuracy and efficiency. Allen's most recent start was an abject meltdown in the Bills' Wild Card loss. Allen is well above average as a rusher for a quarterback, but it is his arm that will make-or-break his critical 2020. Allen is a gamble at his QB6-7 ADP. It eventually catches up to quarterbacks who are better in fantasy than real life. Yesterday, 7:22 pm

  • Mitchell Trubisky likely to be Week 1 starter?
NBC Sports Chicago's JJ Stankevitz expects Mitchell Trubisky to be the Bears' Week 1 starter over Nick Foles.

Advice: Stankevitz had been projecting a Foles victory but now believes the truncated camp and preseason gives Trubisky the advantage. Stankevitz does expect Trubisky to be on a "very, very, very short leash." This makes sense in theory, but there still is not much in the way of Foles claiming starting duties. He knows coach Matt Nagy's system. There is also the fact that he's better, of course. Even in the relatively limited time the Bears have to conduct padded practices, it would not be surprising were Foles to clearly demonstrate his superiority. Yesterday, 4:48 pm

  • Kyler Murray 'bulked up' over the offseason
Kyler Murray "bulked up" over the offseason.

Advice: "He's definitely bulked up and that'll be good for him, especially in this league," was teammate Chandler Jones' exact quote. "There is no quarterback that goes through games without being sacked. That's just the way it goes. When he has a little more meat on his bones, he can take hits." Murray, of course, took a league-worse 48 sacks as a rookie. Murray said he did not consciously try to get bigger this offseason. "I just think it's the maturation of getting older, working out. It just happened." Murray did not attach a number to his gain. Coach Kliff Kingsbury has raved about Murray's second-year comfort in his system. Murray offers massive upside at his ADP, which is currently in the QB6-8 range. Yesterday, 2:45 pm

  • Russell Wilson: Let Russ Cook
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said the offense should be more aggressive this season and "treat every quarter like the fourth quarter."

Advice: Wilson has officially given his blessing to the Let Russ Cook sentiment among Seattle fans and football fans who enjoy big plays and touchdowns. There's no indication hyper-conservative Seahawks OC Brian Schottenheimer will open up his offense and stop limiting Mr. Unlimited. The dual threat Wilson would be a fantasy football fever dream in a more pass-heavy scheme. We can dream. Yesterday, 12:21 pm
