    • Working to regain lost weight
Kittle (core muscle) recently told the Bussin' With The Boys podcast that he lost nearly 30 pounds at the beginning of the offseason while rehabbing injuries.

Advice: Kittle had core muscle surgery after the Super Bowl and was also recovering from shoulder and rib injuries at the time -- a combination that prevented him from doing both upper- and lower-body weightlifting for about a month. He said he's "almost back to 100 percent" and has regained most of the lost weight, but he still wants to add about 10 more pounds before the start of the regular season. It sounds like Kittle will be ready for the beginning of training camp in late July. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:02 am

    • George Kittle lost 30 pounds after core surgery
George Kittle said he lost around 30 pounds after undergoing core muscle surgery this offseason.

Advice: Kittle in a podcast appearance said he was well below his 250-pound playing weight following his surgery. He sustained the core injury around midseason last year and played through it during the Niners’ Super Bowl run. “I couldn’t lift,” Kittle said. “I couldn’t do any upper body because of my shoulder and my rib, and I couldn’t do lower [body] because of my core surgery. … I didn’t lift from the Super Bowl until like almost mid-March. ... I went a month without doing anything, I wasn’t supposed to do anything.” Kittle, 30, plans to work this summer to gain back the weight he lost ahead of his eighth pro season. Last year, Kittle was tenth among tight ends in receptions (65) and first in receiving yards (1,023). Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:50 pm

    • On track for training camp
Kittle (groin) is recovered from his core-muscle surgery, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kittle has been a full participant on the practice field at his Tight End University offseason workouts. He founded the three-day camp with fellow tight ends Travis Kelce and the now-retired Greg Olsen. Kittle played through a groin injury last season before undergoing core-muscle surgery in the offseason. He had previously stated his intentions to be ready for training camp, and it appears the star tight end is on track to do just that. He projects to again be a top fantasy option at his position in 2024. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:24 pm

    • Kaboly: Austin could earn ‘big role’ for Steelers
The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly said, “If there is one receiver besides George Pickens who has a chance to have a big role in [the Steelers’] offense, it’s Calvin Austin.”

Advice: After redshirting in his 2022 rookie campaign, Austin caught 17 passes for 180 yards and one touchdown for the Steelers last season. The speedy fourth-round pick “continued to get better from the first day to the last” throughout the offseason, per Kaboly, and will have a chance to compete for a starting job on a wide receiver depth chart that is wide open after Pickens. Austin earned five-plus targets in three of his first four games to start last season, but was targeted just nine times in his final 13 games — a brutal footnote on his sophomore season. Even if he earns a “big role” in 2024, expectations should be tempered in an Arthur Smith/Russell Wilson led attack. Rotoworld Monday, 5:17 am

    • Najee Harris did not practice at Steelers minicamp
ESPN’s Brooke Pryor reports Najee Harris did not participate in Steelers minicamp practices despite attending.

Advice: Harris was reportedly excused from Tuesday’s practice but did not participate in Wednesday or Thursday’s practices despite being present. Mike Tomlin assured Pryor that Harris’ absence is “not anything that’s going to be an issue whatsoever, regarding health.” Tomlin furthered the point by sharing his view that minicamp is best used to learn more about lesser-known players. Whatever Harris’ issue is, it is not expected to impact his Week 1 availability at this time. Harris has one year remaining on his contract with the Steelers declining his fifth-year option this offseason. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:56 am

    • Tweaking throwing motion
Allen said Tuesday that he's working on improving his throwing motion this offseason, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Allen noted that the changes have felt really good at times and not so good at others. He injured his right shoulder Week 6 last season but still managed to play every game for a fifth straight year, and he confirmed in late January that he wouldn't need surgery. Some of what he's working on this offseason is returning to his pre-injury mechanics after the shoulder discomfort led to a lower, wider motion in 2023. The other big change will come in his receiving corps, with Khalil Shakir the only wideout on the roster that's ever caught a pass from Allen. The Bills parted ways with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason and brought in Curtis Samuel, second-round pick Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool and Mack Hollins. Meanwhile, Allen and offensive coordinator Joe Brady will have continuity at running back (James Cook, Ty Johnson), tight end (Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox) and along the offensive line (four of five starters returning). • Allen made offseason changes to throwing motion
Josh Allen said he made tweaks to his throwing motion to increase efficiency.

Advice: Allen made the changes after struggling with arm pain in 2023. He used digital mapping technology to analyze his throws from last year in order to be as “efficient as possible with my throwing motion.” “I wouldn’t call it a complete overhaul of my throwing motion, but definitely some things to work on and clean up,” Allen said. “Anytime you go through something like that, sometimes it’s gonna feel really good, sometimes it’s not gonna feel really good.” Allen’s 2023 adjusted completion rate (76.6 percent) was the second highest of his NFL career. Only Brock Purdy had a higher completion rate over expected than Allen last year. Rotoworld Wednesday, 5:32 am
