    • Commanders sign K Ramiz Ahmed
      Commanders signed K Ramiz Ahmed.

Advice: Ahmed spent two seasons kicking for the University of Nevada, converting on 40-of-44 extra point attempts and 15-of-20 field goals. He had offseason stints with the Bears in 2020 and the Packers in 2022 but never caught on with a regular-season roster. He kicked in six games for the Birmingham Stallions during the 2024 UFL season, going 10-for-13 on his attempts and 4-of-7 on distances of 40-plus yards. Ahmed is far from a lock to be the Commanders’ Week 1 kicker, as the team will likely bring in additional competition for training camp. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:30 am

    • Gets let go
Havrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Advice: Havrisik had just joined Cleveland on May 20, but with fellow kickers Dustin Hopkins and Cade York under contract as well, the Arizona product was seemingly expendable. He'll now have to seek out a new opportunity Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:56 pm

    • Gets scooped up
Ahmed signed a contract with the Commanders on Tuesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Ahmed made one NFL appearance with the Packers in 2022 and was last with Birmingham of the UFL, where he made 10 of his 13 attempted field goals. He is currently the one kicker on the Commanders roster after the team released Brandon McManus on Sunday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:49 pm

    • Commanders release McManus following allegations
      Commanders released K Brandon McManus.

Advice: McManus has been accused of sexual assault by two different women. The alleged incidents occurred on the Jaguars’ team plane last season. McManus has maintained his innocence, but the team has decided to move on rather than deal with a lengthy legal process. It’s quite possible the 32-year-old has played his final NFL contest. • Let go by Washington
McManus was released by the Commanders on Sunday.

Advice: McManus signed a one-year deal to join Washington in March, with his release occurring a week after reports that McManus was the subject of a civil lawsuit, per NFL.com. The Commanders don't currently have another kicker on their roster, which may change as soon as Monday. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:50 pm

    • Chiefs considering not using Butker on kickoffs
Chiefs special teams coordinator said that because of the new kickoff rules, the team has considered not using Harrison Butker on kickoffs.

Advice: Toub points out that the new kickoff rules could require kickers to be more involved in tackles — something the Chiefs may prefer for Butker to avoid. Toub said the team watched every kickoff in the XFL, which first experimented with this rule, and found that kickers were involved in “at least 25 to 40 percent of the tackles” in the tape they watched. Toub said safety Justin Reid has been viewed as a potential option to replace Butker on kickoffs, but it doesn’t seem like anything is definite at this time. It wouldn’t be surprising to see other teams consider this approach to avoid injuries to their kickers. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:27 pm
