  • Signs with Eagles
    Ross and the Eagles agreed on a one-year contract Thursday.

    Advice: Ross announced in late November that he was attempting an NFL comeback after temporarily retiring in July and he participated in Philadelphia's rookie minicamp in April. The wide receiver was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft after posting a blazing 4.22 second 40-yard dash time at the combine, but he has yet to really ever find his groove in the league. Ross last appeared in an NFL contest in 2021, securing 11 receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown over 10 games with the Giants and he'll likely operate primarily as a special-teams option if he cracks the Eagles' active roster in 2024.   • Courtland Sutton absent from voluntary OTAs
    Courtland Sutton has been absent from Broncos voluntary OTAs.

    Advice: Head coach Sean Payton said he and the team are not concerned about Sutton, who is remaining away from the team as he waits out a new contract. The Broncos fielded trade offers for Sutton earlier this offseason but opted not to trade the disgruntled receiver, who is set to earn $17.825 million this season. Sutton caught 59 passes for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games last season and hasn’t gone for more than 829 yards in any of his last four seasons.   • On field for OTAs
    Patrick (Achilles) is participating in Thursday's OTAs session, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: Patrick continues to work his way back from the left Achilles tear that cost him the entire 2023 season. As an ACL tear also wiped out his 2022 campaign, the 30-year-old wideout now hasn't suited up for an NFL game since 2021, and he likely would've been cut this offseason had he not agreed to a pay cut. Health permitting, there's opportunity for Patrick to carve out a role in Denver's wide receiver corps, which gets thin behind Courtland Sutton.   • Monken: Bateman showing ‘tremendous growth’
    Ravens OC Todd Monken said he’s seen “tremendous growth” from Rashod Bateman since midway through last season.

    Advice: Monken also said he expected Bateman to get the ball a lot more this season. Some of this should happen naturally, as the Ravens parted ways with Odell Beckham Jr. after his lone season with the team. Beckham saw 62 targets last year, and the Ravens didn’t add a receiver of note this offseason outside of drafting Devontez Walker in the fourth round. Bateman caught 32 passes for 367 yards and one touchdown last season and has a career receiving line of 93-1,167-4. While injuries have slowed him at various points in his career, he suited up for 16 games last season and signed a one-year extension with the team earlier this offseason. Bateman has flashed potential when given the opportunity but needs to start stringing plays together on a more consistent basis if he hopes to look like the player the Ravens drafted at No. 27 overall a few seasons ago.   • Almost over hamstring issue
    Odunze (hamstring) is expected to resume practicing next week, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

    Advice: Odunze participated in Chicago's first practice during the team's rookie minicamp earlier this month, but subsequently encountered hamstring tightness, as Dan Weiderer of the Chicago Tribune reports. The Bears seem to have been taking a cautious approach to the recovery of the rookie No. 9 overall pick, but it doesn't look like there's any real concern about his injury. Odunze will have plenty more time this offseason to build chemistry with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, and to find his footing in what figures to be a starting role alongside DJ Moore and Keenan Allen.   • Tim Patrick (Achilles) participating in OTAs
    Tim Patrick (Achilles) was present and participating in Broncos OTAs.

    Advice: Patrick was spotted running routes and participating in team drills at Thursday’s OTAs. The veteran receiver is hoping to overcome a recent string of bad luck that saw him miss back-to-back seasons due to a torn ACL (2022) and a torn Achilles (2023) suffered in training camp. The Broncos kept Patrick around on a one-year deal earlier this offseason, but it remains to be seen how he could factor into the offense if healthy. Courtland Sutton remains on the team, and Marvin Mims and rookie Troy Franklin are both expected to factor into the offense to some degree. They also signed veteran Josh Reynolds in free agency. Assuming he makes the roster, Patrick probably doesn’t have much fantasy upside as long as the guys in front of him are healthy.   • Making improvements
    Coach Dan Campbell said Thursday that Williams is "a man on a mission" and has made notable improvements this offseason, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.

    Advice: Williams hasn't yet lived up to his 12th overall draft capital from back in 2022, but he's also faced unique hurdles to begin his NFL career. His big-play ability is undeniable, as is the opportunity for a third playmaker to emerge in Detroit's passing game behind standouts Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, though plenty of targets should be distributed to running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. Potential for a year-three breakout is still there, but it depends on Williams truly logging an impressive offseason and earning consistent targets in a crowded offense.   • John Ross unretires, signs with Eagles
    Eagles signed WR John Ross.

    Advice: Ross announced his retirement last July while with the Chiefs but is now back for a second go at things with the Eagles. The former No. 9 overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft hasn’t played a regular-season snap since 2021 and has dealt with a myriad of injuries dating back to his days in college at Washington. Ross has a career receiving line of 62-957-11 but has totaled just 13 receptions for 241 yards and one touchdown over his last two seasons. He’ll have a chance to make the Eagles as added depth on a roster that’s short on receiver talent behind A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, but is well off the fantasy radar even if he makes the roster.   • Campbell: Jameson Williams a ‘man on a mission’
    Lions HC Dan Campbell said Jameson Williams is a “man on a mission” and has been the most improved player since the start of spring practices.

    Advice: Williams desperately needs a third-year leap after spending much of his rookie season recovering from a torn ACL and kicking off his second year with a six-game suspension for violating the league’s gambling policies. Williams played in 12 games last season, totaling 24 receptions for 354 yards and two scores while being targeted on 17.4 percent of his routes. The 6-foot-1 speedster is expected to be well behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta in the target pecking order but can add another element to a Lions’ passing game that has lacked a reliable WR2 during the Dan Campbell era. As far as fantasy is concerned, Williams could have fringe WR2/WR3 potential if he’s able to put everything together, making him a potential steal in drafts this summer. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:21 am
