• Leaves practice with injury
Slayton (undisclosed) departed Tuesday's practice at mandatory minicamp early due to an apparent injury, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

Advice: Slayton appeared to sustain an injury after colliding with a teammate, but he was able to walk off the field under his own power. The 27-year-old remains in position to handle a starting role for the Giants, though rookie phenom Malik Nabers is likely the clear No. 1, so the Giants' offense can ill afford to have Slayton miss any time. With tight end Darren Waller having now officially retired, New York is lacking for depth behind Nabers, Slayton and third-year pro Wan'Dale Robinson. If Slayton is sidelined, more reps will open up for Jalin Hyatt, Allen Robinson and Isaiah McKenzie. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:50 pm

  • Had offseason surgery, feels good
Sutton said Tuesday he underwent ankle surgery earlier this offseason and was away from the team during OTAs as a result of his rehab, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Advice: Sutton added that he feels healthy for the beginning of June minicamp, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. It was presumed that Sutton's absence during OTAs related mostly to ongoing talks on a contract extension, which he said Tuesday are still at a "stalemate." The wideout still has two years remaining on his deal with Denver, but with only $2 million in guarantees. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:47 pm

  • Exits practice early
Shakir exited Tuesday's minicamp practice early due to an apparent lower-body issue, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Per Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo, Shakir chatted with trainers after suffering the injury and then limped off the field. He didn't return to the session and can be considered day-to-day. The 2022 fifth-rounder is the top returnee in a Buffalo WR corps that no longer includes Stefon Diggs or Gabe Davis, leaving Shakir to compete for snaps and targets with a group of newcomers that includes Curtis Samuel, rookie Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool and Mack Hollins. • Appears to be holding out
Cooper isn't present Tuesday for the start of mandatory minicamp, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Advice: Cooper is in the final year of his contract and presumably wants an extension. The Browns can fine him while he's absent, and it's possible this stretches into training camp if the wideout doesn't have a new contract by late July. Cooper had career highs for receiving yards (1,250) and yards per catch (17.4) last season, buoyed by a 25-485-3 receiving line in the four games he played with Joe Flacco as Cleveland's starting QB. Cooper also did well with Deshaun Watson, reaching 90 yards in four of the six full games Watson played, whereas Cleveland's other main pass catchers -- namely TE David Njoku and WR Elijah Moore -- struggled to get anything going with the supposed franchise QB. The Browns added Jerry Jeudy this offseason, likely pushing Moore back to the No. 3 role and giving Cooper more competition for targets. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:47 am

  • Amari Cooper does not report to Browns minicamp
Amari Cooper did not report to Browns minicamp.

Advice: Cooper is in the final year of his contract and is set to earn $23 million in 2024. The veteran receiver totaled 72 receptions for 1,250 yards and five touchdowns last season and has gone for 1,100-plus yards in each of his first two seasons with the Browns. In search of a new deal before the start of the season, Cooper, who turns 30 later this month, is subject to fines for every day he misses mandatory minicamp. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:30 am

  • Not attending minicamp
Higgins hasn't signed his franchise tag and isn't attending June minicamp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Higgins would need to sign the tag before practicing and can't be fined while he's technically not under contract. He reportedly asked for a trade in March, but in April he told reporters that he expected to play for the Bengals this season. There's a July 15 deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term contracts. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:38 am

  • To attend minicamp
Sutton said Thursday he will attend Denver's mandatory minicamp after having skipped voluntary OTAs, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.

Advice: Sutton trained privately and away from the team during OTAs, but he'll be present for the start of mandatory offseason activities next week. The wideout still appears to desire a new contract, as only $2 million is guaranteed of the roughly $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, which ties him with the Broncos for the next two season. Following the trade of Jerry Jeudy to the Browns earlier this offseason, Sutton is positioned as the clear top target for whoever starts at QB this season, making him an especially key factor for Denver's offense. Behind Sutton on the depth chart are Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) and Troy Franklin. Rotowire.com Thursday, 1:44 pm

  • Sutton on Broncos minicamp: ‘I will be there’
Courtland Sutton said, “I will be there,” when asked about whether or not he’d attend Broncos mandatory minicamp next week.

Advice: It’s been a strange offseason for Sutton, who was the subject of trade rumors at one point but is now expected to remain with the team. The veteran receiver, who totaled 59 receptions for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, is in search of a new contract and skipped voluntary OTAs last month. Whether a new contract comes his way is to yet to be determined, but it’s possible the Broncos prefer he play out the rest of his deal and they’ll decide next offseason whether they’re interested in re-upping with him on a new deal. Sutton is expected to open this season as the Broncos’ WR1, but emerging youngsters like Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin could challenge him for targets down the line. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:34 pm
