    • Embracing QB competition
Stidham said he's "super excited" to compete with Bo Nix and Zach Wilson for quarterback reps at OTAs and believes he could win the starting job, Jeff Legwold of ESPN reports.

Advice: Stidham said he's "very confident that I can be the guy for us next year.'' The 2019 fourth-rounder isn't unaccustomed to such situations, noting that he "dealt with this before" when New England drafted Mac Jones in the first round. Now, Stidham finds himself in the veteran role of an offseason competition, with Nix having been selected 12th overall in April's draft, and Wilson still coming along in his development. Coach Sean Payton has made clear that the Broncos are approaching the offseason as a three-way competition for the starting gig, per Legwold. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

    • Bills OC Joe Brady: ‘This is Josh Allen’s offense’
Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady said “at the end of the day, this is Josh Allen’s offense.”

Advice: It might go without saying, but it’s further confirmation that the Bills have finally accepted that the team must let Allen cook if they are to go anywhere in the competitive AFC. As recently as last offseason, Buffalo coaches talked openly about limiting Allen’s rushing role and encouraging him to take easy check-down throws instead of riskier downfield shots. Allen was fantasy football’s top scoring quarterback during Brady’s time as Bills play caller in 2023. He logged at least eight rushing attempts in six of his final seven games — including 12 in a season-ending loss to the Chiefs — after dialing down his running in the first half of the season. A fully unleashed Allen is a frightening prospect for Buffalo opponents. Rotoworld Today, 9:50 am

    • Tee Higgins not in attendance at Bengals OTAs
Tee Higgins is not in attendance at Bengals voluntary OTAs.

Advice: Higgins has yet to sign his franchise tag tender as he seeks a long-term deal or a trade. The franchise tender would pay Higgins, 25, $21.9 million in 2024. Ja’Marr Chase, who had his fifth-year option picked up by the Bengals last month, was also absent from the voluntary workouts. Higgins’ situation is devolving by the week and could end up with a prolonged holdout later this summer unless the Bengals decide to deal him to another team before the regular season kicks off. • Ja’Marr Chase absent from Bengals voluntary OTAs
ESPN’s Ben Baby reports Ja’Marr Chase is absent at the start of Bengals OTAs.

Advice: OL Trent Brown and Tee Higgins are also absent from the voluntary offseason practices. Probably it’s not a big deal that Chase, 24, entering his fourth NFL season, is not in attendance, though it is something to monitor in the summer months. The Bengals in April picked up Chase’s fifth-year option; he’s now signed through the 2025 season, slated to make a guaranteed salary of nearly $5 million this season. The superstar wideout is likely to show up to summer practices if and when the team can hammer out a lucrative long-term deal with him. Rotoworld Today, 8:25 am

    • Brandon McManus accused of sexual assault
ESPN’s Michael DiRocco reports Commanders kicker Brandon McManus is being accused of sexual assault dating back to 2023 during his time with the Jaguars.

Advice: According to DiRocco, ESPN obtained court documents stating that McManus allegedly assaulted two women during the Jaguars’ flight to London last season. In the lawsuit filed on Friday in Duval County Circuit Civil Court, the women, who are identified as Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II, allege that McManus rubbed himself against them and was grinding against them. It also accuses the Jaguars of failing to supervise McManus and create a safe environment for the airplane staff. There is no comment from McManus at this time, and the Jaguars have reportedly declined to comment through a spokesman, according to DiRocco. The victims are reportedly seeking more than $1 million and are demanding a jury trial. McManus signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Commanders earlier this offseason after going 30-for-37 on field goal attempts. We’ll likely know more about this situation in the coming days and will provide any additional updates as they come. Shortly after news of the lawsuit broke, the Commanders , “Earlier today, we were made aware of the civil lawsuit filed on May 24 against Brandon McManus. We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are looking into the matter. We have been in communication with the League Office and Brandon’s representation, and will reserve further comment at this time.” Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:37 am

    • McDermott ‘very impressed’ with Claypool in OTAs
Bills HC Sean McDermott said he is “very impressed” with what Chase Claypool has shown so far in OTAs.

Advice: It’s just pad-less practices, but for a player hoping to contribute to a team more than he did in 2024, it’s a positive sign for Claypool, who entered the league as a second-round pick of the Steelers in 2020 but has already been labeled a journeyman. The fifth-year receiver is on his third team in two seasons and has totaled just 22 receptions for 217 yards and one touchdown since being traded to the Bears during the 2022 trade deadline. Claypool joined a rather thin receiver room earlier this offseason when he signed a one-year deal with the Bills. He joins veterans Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, along with rookie Keon Coleman, as new faces on the team. At just 25 years old, Claypool has a chance to contribute if he can get back to his rookie-year form in which he went for 62-873-9. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:47 am

    • Jalen Tolbert could see bigger role in 2024
ESPN’s Todd Archer says Cowboys WR Jalen Tolbert “has a chance to take the No. 3 role behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks” this upcoming season.

Advice: The departure of Michael Gallup this offseason immediately opened the door for Tolbert to step into a bigger role. Couple that with the fact that the Cowboys didn’t take a receiver until the sixth round of the draft, and his path to snaps becomes all the more clear. Archer reports that Tolbert has “joined [Dak] Prescott at the hip” this offseason, spending additional time with Prescott in hopes of developing additional familiarity and trust with the quarterback come game day. Head coach Mike McCarthy also praised Tolbert’s growth, saying he’s “taken leaps and bounds” with his confidence and understanding of the game. Tolbert entered the league as a third-round pick out of South Alabama and turned in a solid combine, posting an 8.76 RAS. He’s played sparingly through his first two years in the league, amassing 24 receptions for 280 yards and two touchdowns for his career, and has likely faced a steep learning curve going from the Sun Belt conference to the NFL. Any significant role would make him an interesting dart throw in the later rounds of fantasy drafts, as an injury to either Cooks or Lamb could thrust Tolbert into a starting role. • Fowler: Aiyuk eyeing contract similar to ARSB
Speaking on NFL Live, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said “the benchmark” for a Brandon Aiyuk contract extension “is Amon-Ra St. Brown.”

Advice: Fowler went on to point out that St. Brown is getting $28 million per year on his new four-year deal, adding that Aiyuk “doesn’t have to be the highest paid [wide receiver] in the league” but that he thinks he deserves to be paid like a top wide receiver. Aiyuk has totaled back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons for the 49ers and went for a career-high 1,342 yards in 2023 while scoring seven touchdowns. He’s currently set to earn $14.124 million in 2024 after the 49ers picked up his fifth-year option, but is hoping to get long-term security before the start of the season. It was reported earlier this month by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that the 49ers are planning on keeping Aiyuk for the long term, meaning an extension could be coming before Week 1. Aiyuk has not been present at voluntary OTAs. Rotoworld Friday, 3:40 pm

    • Drops weight, awaits extension
Coach Mike McDaniel said at OTAs that Tagovailoa, who continues to vie for a contract extension beyond his fifth-year option, has dropped between 10 and 15 pounds this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.

Advice: Tagovailoa has been an on-and-off participant at OTAs for Miami, but McDaniel made clear that his attendance schedule has been a non-issue. The quarterback added weight last offseason in order to protect himself, and coupled with training to reduce impact taken when falling to the ground, that allowed Tagovailoa to play a full 17-game slate for the first time in his NFL career. It appears that the signal-caller is now putting in the work to get more mobile while keeping the traits that have added to his durability, with McDaniel noting that Tagovailoa is looking "svelte." Both sides will continue negotiations on a multi-year extension, though Alain Poupart of SI.com notes the possibility of Tagovailoa playing out the 2024 season on his fifth-year option can't be entirely dismissed.
