  • New competition in WR room
Claypool will have more competition for a roster spot after the Bills signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a one-year deal Tuesday.

Advice: The Bills seem to be signing as many journeymen wideouts with proven upside as they can this offseason, and seeing who can stick alongside highly touted rookie Keon Coleman and third-year man Khalil Shakir. For now, it looks like MVS, Claypool, Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins will battle for roster spots and positioning on the depth chart. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:25 am

  • Tending to ankle injury
Coach Raheem Morris said Robinson will not participate in Tuesday's OTA practice due to an ankle injury, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Morris said that Robinson is expected to be on the field for Atlanta's mandatory minicamp, as is rookie Jase McClellan (foot), who is also currently sidelined. The insinuation that Robinson's injury is only a minor issue is a relief, but the situation will still warrant monitoring until such time as the star running back is officially back on the field. Robinson could be primed for a Year 2 breakout with the arrival of Kirk Cousins (Achilles) promising an improved Falcons offense, but for the rest of OTAs, Tyler Allgeier could get a chance to handle the top backfield reps. • Let go by Washington
The Commanders released Fromm on Tuesday.

Advice: Fromm spent the entire 2023 season on Washington's practice squad. The 2020 fifth-round pick's only career snaps in an NFL regular-season game came in 2021 with the Giants. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:00 am

  • Gets one-year deal in Buffalo
The Bills are slated to sign Valdes-Scantling to a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Advice: Valdes-Scantling was released by the Chiefs back in February, and he now lands with another AFC powerhouse. Buffalo's revamped wide receiver corps, which lost Stefon Diggs via trade and Gabe Davis to free agency, could use a deep threat to complement Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel and rookie second-round pick Keon Coleman. Working as the No. 4 man on the depth chart could be an ideal situation for Valdes-Scantling to contribute, though if utilized only as a situation downfield target, he's more likely to slightly raise Josh Allen's ceiling than carry standalone value. Across 16 regular-season games last year, the 29-year-old compiled a career-low 21-315-1 receiving line. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:45 am

  • Jets to open season on MNF for 2nd straight year
The Jets will play the 49ers in Week 1 on Monday Night Football.

Advice: It will be the Jets’ second straight Monday night season opener. Last year’s Week 1 was a waking nightmare for New York as Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles four snaps into the game and missed the rest of the season despite constant talk of an early return from injury. Rodgers and the Jets will take on a stingy Niners defense graded by PFF as 2023’s third best pass rushing unit and second best coverage unit. It will be a tough test for Rodgers, 40, and the Jets offense to start 2024. The game will be something of a homecoming for Jets head coach Robert Saleh, who served as the 49ers defensive coordinator for four years. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:58 am

  • Falcons hoard former 49ers TEs, sign Dwelley
Falcons signed TE Ross Dwelley, formerly of the 49ers.

Advice: The Falcons also signed Charlie Woerner earlier in the offseason, another former 49ers tight end. Both should serve as primary blockers behind and alongside the electric Kyle Pitts, who should have the best opportunity of his professional career for a true breakout season. • Titans agree to terms with TE Nick Vannett
Titans signed veteran TE Nick Vannett.

Advice: The two sides agreed to terms on Monday although the terms of the contract have not yet been made public. The eight-year veteran came into the league with the Seahawks in 2016, spending time with the Steelers, Broncos, Saints, Giants, and Chargers since departing Seattle. Vannett carries sparse fantasy value even though the Titans have little in the way of depth behind presumed starter Chigoziem Okonkwo. Rotoworld Monday, 5:14 pm

  • Moves to IR
Brown (undisclosed) reverted to the Panthers' injured reserve list Monday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Advice: Brown spent two stints with the Panthers' practice squad in 2023 but was never elevated to the active roster. He signed with Carolina as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and played in three games over the next two seasons, recording nine carries for 43 yards. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:44 pm

  • Back with Denver
Dorsett signed with the Broncos on Monday after being released Friday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.

Advice: The wide receiver spent 2023 with Denver's practice squad, playing in two games and not catching any of his three targets. The 2015 first-round pick has just 21 receptions over the past four seasons with four different teams. Now he'll get a chance to stick with Denver on a depth chart that includes 12 wide receivers.
