  • Denver adds QB depth
Following the 2024 NFL Draft, Stidham is joined in the Broncos' QB room by newcomer Zach Wilson, along with No. 12 overall pick Bo Nix, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

Advice: After the Broncos released Russell Wilson last month, it was inevitable that they would add QB depth to join Stidham, who started Denver's final two contests last season. While Nix is no doubt being groomed as the team's future starter, it remains to be seen if he'll step into that role immediately. Until then, Stidham and Wilson will presumably both have an opportunity to compete for the No. 1 role, but neither veteran signal-caller profiles as a high-value fantasy option in either re-draft or dynasty formats. • DEN won’t pick up Zach Wilson’s fifth-year option
Pro Football Talk reports the Broncos won’t pick up Zach Wilson’s fifth-year contract option.

Advice: The option would’ve paid Wilson $22.4 million, but that’s much too rich for a quarterback who’s thrown only 23 touchdowns (and 25 interceptions) in 34 games with the Jets. While Wilson will get a chance to compete, the future of the team for now is Bo Nix who the Broncos selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Wilson could benefit career-wise from a fresh start and new scene in Denver. Rotoworld Today, 2:21 pm

  • Remains set for QB battle
O'Connell remains in position to compete with Gardner Minshew for the starting job this offseason, after the Raiders refrained from selecting a rookie quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, Mark Anderson of the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Las Vegas was an oft-theorized candidate to add a QB in April's draft, but six signal-callers ultimately went off the board before the team's first-round selection at No. 13 overall, which became playmaking tight end Brock Bowers. The team invested second- and third-round selections in offensive linemen Jackson Powers-Johnson and Delmar Glaze, putting whoever wins the 2024 starting gig in a better position for success. O'Connell completed 213 of 343 pass attempts for 2,218 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions across 10 starts last season, which is solid rookie numbers for a fourth-round pick, but Minshew boasts enough experience that this offseason should play out as a true competition. • Avoids draft competition
Minshew remains poised to compete with Aidan O'Connell for the starting job this offseason, with the Raiders not having added to the quarterback position in the 2024 NFL Draft, Mark Anderson of the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Minshew joined Las Vegas early in free agency back in March, and while it looked like the team was a candidate to add a rookie via April's draft, six quarterbacks came off the board before the Raiders' first-round selection of tight end Brock Bowers at No. 13 overall. Las Vegas also boosted the O-line with premium picks, selecting second-round guard Jackson Powers-Johnson and third-round tackle Delmar Glaze, so whichever of Minshew or O'Connell ultimately wins the starting role looks to be in a notably better position to succeed. • Fifth-year option exercised
The Jaguars officially exercised Lawrence's fifth-year option Monday.

Advice: Lawrence and fellow 2021 first-round pick Travis Etienne both had their fifth-year options officially picked up Monday, moves GM Trent Baalke alluded to Saturday. Lawrence is coming off back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons, and Jacksonville had made moves to fill the void left by offseason departure Calvin Ridley by signing Gabe Davis and drafting rookie Brian Thomas 23rd overall. The Jaguars will continue working toward a long-term deal with Lawrence, but in the meantime he now remains under contract through 2025. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:51 am

  • Vikings won't rush to name starting QB
The Vikings could begin the season with Darnold as the team's starting quarterback despite taking J.J. McCarthy with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, ESPN reports. "We're not going to rush his development," said general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. "We're just going to do what's best for the Vikings in the short and long term."

Advice: Darnold signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Vikings as a short-term veteran starter or backup. It's hard to handicap when McCarthy may take over the starting job this soon after the draft, but it's notable the Vikings are trying to reduce expectations. Expect the quarterback battle for the Week 1 starting job to commence this summer. Still, odds are Darnold will only be the starter for a few weeks at most if McCarthy is healthy and making progress. • Jets move up to take QB Jordan Travis with pick 171
Jets traded up with the Eagles to select Florida State QB Jordan Travis with the No. 171 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Advice: A strong 2023 campaign ended in tragedy for Travis (6’1/200), who suffered a fractured leg in November and was unable to workout at the NFL combine. Another six-year prospect in this year’s class, Travis didn’t get a chance to shine until 2021, when he started the Seminoles’ final seven games of the season. He went on to be a full-time starter in 2022 and 2023, throwing for 5970-44-7 over that span while adding another 593 yards and 14 scores on the ground. He’s shown significant growth throughout his career, and has done a good job of limiting turnovers and sacks – especially in his final two years. It was reported in March that Travis should be fully cleared to participate in football activities come April. He will sit behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor in the Jets’ quarterback room to begin his career. Rotoworld Saturday, 12:47 pm

  • Tracking to be Chicago's QB2
Following the selection of No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, Bagent is viewed as the favorite to open the season as the Bears' primary backup quarterback, USA Today's Vincent Parise reports.

Advice: With Justin Fields traded to the Steelers earlier in the offseason, it leaves Bagent and Brett Rypien behind Williams. There's a chance Chicago adds an experienced veteran to what is currently a pretty young quarterback room, but Bagent showed well enough as a rookie last year to enter 2024 with a chance to claim backup duties. Bagent went 2-2 in four games as a starter, completing 65.7 percent of his passes for 859 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions and adding 109 rushing yards and two additional scores on 23 attempts. • Joined by first-round rookie QB
Cousins (Achilles), who signed a four-year deal with Atlanta in March, is slated to be joined in the team's QB corps by Michael Penix, who was taken with the No. 8 overall pick in Thursday's NFL draft, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.

Advice: Despite the franchise's surprising decision to select Penix, Cousins, who is rebounding from an Achilles tear that he sustained Oct. 29, remains locked in as the Falcons' No. 1 QB for the foreseeable future. Regarding that topic, GM Terry Fontenot noted Thursday, "Kirk Cousins is our quarterback. We're very excited about Kirk, very excited about this team. (With) Michael Penix we're talking about the future. The draft is you look at the future and you look at big picture." In terms of his injury recovery, Cousins relayed last month that he's progressing well and is "optimistic that (he) can be full speed at practice before (the Falcons) break for the summer." In any case, barring any setbacks, Cousins -- who turns 36 in August -- is entrenched atop Atlanta's depth chart, with Penix providing the team with both an insurance policy for the veteran signal-caller, as well as a potential successor down the road.
