  • Dealing with heel injury
Sanders sat out minicamp practice Tuesday with a heel injury, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Obeserver reports.

Advice: Coach Dave Canales said Sanders had something "flare up" with his heel, and he's missing practice time this week. Overall, it doesn't sound like a serious issue for Sanders, but he's missing valuable reps with a new coaching staff, especially after the Panthers drafted Jonathon Brooks in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft to join Chuba Hubbard atop the depth chart. Sanders looks like he's going to head into training camp no higher than third on the depth chart, and his inability to play special teams would make him a tough player to have active on game days if that's the case. • Progressing as planned
Latu (knee) has suffered no setbacks in his recovery and is expected to be ready for training camp, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Latu suffered a meniscus injury during a preseason game last year and missed the entirety of his rookie campaign. A third-round selection in the 2023 Draft, Latu will likely be competing with veteran Eric Saubert for the 49ers No. 3 spot on the team's depth chart at tight end behind George Kittle (groin) and the newly acquired, Logan Thomas. • Gets let go
Havrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Advice: Havrisik had just joined Cleveland on May 20, but with fellow kickers Dustin Hopkins and Cade York under contract as well, the Arizona product was seemingly expendable. He'll now have to seek out a new opportunity Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

  • Callahan on Burks: I think he’s an asset on special teams
Broadway Sports Media’s Easton Freeze reports the Titans plan to use Treylon Burks on special teams.

Advice: Coach Callahan made it a point that Burks will have to find his spots on the field by way of special teams. “If he’s one of those guys on game day, we’re going to have to find a place for him” said Callahan. Burks does have experience as a kick and punt returner during his college days, but Callahan spoke specifically about the gunner role on the punt team (for Burks). With Calvin Ridley, DeAndre Hopkins and Tyler Boyd as the Titans’ top three wideouts, Burks has work to do before he gets back in the receiving rotation. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

  • Returns to field
Haskins (undisclosed) has participated in OTAs, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Advice: Haskins spent all of 2023 on IR with an unknown injury, but he appears to be healthy and recovered now. The Michigan product will likely be battling Julius Chestnut for No. 3 running back duties behind Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears leading up to the start of the 2024 campaign. • Holding out from minicamp
Aiyuk is not present at 49ers minicamp this week as he seeks a new contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Advice: This was expected after Aiyuk didn't report for voluntary OTAs following an offseason full of trade speculation. Aiyuk ultimately wasn't traded, and the two sides have reportedly engaged in dialogue regarding a new deal, though nothing has seemed to advance further than the talking stage. Aiyuk is currently set to collect a $14.124 million salary in 2024, the final year of his rookie deal. He's one of the many receivers around the league set to be paid handsomely. It's unclear if San Francisco plans to meet his demands. Rotowire.com Today, 11:12 am

  • Christian McCaffrey signs extension with 49ers
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the 49ers have re-signed Christian McCaffrey to a two-year extension averaging $19 million per season.

Advice: This is a surprise to no one as the soon-to-be 28-year old McCaffrey has continued to pace the running back position in the NFL. The deal includes $24 million guaranteed over the next two seasons and includes an additional $8 million on what he was scheduled to make in the first two years. McCaffrey is coming off a season in which he won Offensive Player of the Year while earning his first rushing title. He was set to be a free agent after the 2025 season, so this ensures the 49ers will have their guy for the future. The new contract only strengthens what was already known, CMC is the consensus number one overall pick in fantasy football for 2024. Rotoworld Today, 10:38 am

  • Expected to be ready for camp
Brown (shoulder) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp next month, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Brown is still recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum he suffered in the Texans' playoff win over the Browns back in January. However, the veteran wideout seems to be on track in his rehab and should be healed well in advance of Week 1. Following the Texans' addition of Stefon Diggs to go with Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Brown will be in the mix for fourth wideout duties in Houston after re-signing on a one-year deal over the offseason. • Mike McCarthy plans to use ‘two or three’ RBs
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said the team would use “two or three [running backs], whatever it takes” in 2024.

Advice: McCarthy noted the rise of split backfields in the modern NFL and said the Cowboys — who last season had the league’s fourth highest pass rate over expected — would divvy up backfield touches among Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, and a yet-to-be-named third running back. Royce Freeman would be the likeliest third option behind Elliott and Dowdle. Zeke would be the odds-on favorite to get goal line work, though Dowdle could split the pass-catching role going into the regular season. Rotoworld Today, 9:52 am
