    • Pat Freiermuth a top performer this offseason
The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly writes, “Nobody performed better and more consistently for four weeks than Pat Freiermuth.”

Advice: Kaboly went on to add, “Freiermuth might not have dropped a pass all month” and reiterated his “instant connection” with Russell Wilson — something he . Playing in an offense that, outside of George Pickens, looks thin at receiver talent, Freiermuth has a chance to be a key contributor for the Steelers in 2024. Add to that the fact that offensive coordinator Arthur Smith targeted his tight ends 173 times from 2021-2023, the third most of any team in the league, and it’s possible this year is setting up to be the best of Freiermuth’s career. Injuries limited him to just 12 games last season, but in 2022, he caught 63 passes for 732 yards and two touchdowns. Currently going as a fringe TE1/TE2 in fantasy drafts, Freiermuth could turn into a solid value for fantasy managers who opt to wait on the position in drafts. Rotoworld Monday, 5:44 am

    • Myles Garrett tweaks hammy on last day of minicamp
Myles Garrett suffered a minor hamstring injury in the Browns’ final day of minicamp.

Advice: According to an article by Mary Kay Cabot, Garrett “pulled up limping in an early defensive drill and grabbed the back of his left hamstring.” Garrett did the rest of his work from the sideline after suffering the injury, but head coach Kevin Stefanski said at the end of the day that Garrett would “be fine.” Garrett totaled 42 tackles and 14 sacks for the Browns last season and walked away with Defensive Player of the Year honors. He’ll have a month to recoup from his injury before training camp opens in July. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:47 am

    • Kamara has ‘contract-related’ absence
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Alvin Kamara’s departure from Saints minicamp “is contract-related.”

Advice: This comes straight from Kamara’s agent, Brad Cicala. Kamara’s contract runs through the next two seasons and has just $1 million in guarantees remaining, likely prompting the decision. It’s worth noting that Kamara is currently set to earn just over $18 million this season, making any “contract-related” issues a bit confusing, but we’ll likely learn more about this in the coming days. The Saints can notably save more than $18 million by cutting the soon-to-be 29-year-old back after this season. Kamara has functioned as the team’s offensive focal point for much of his seven-year career, touching the ball more than 250 times in all but his rookie campaign. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:52 am

    • Skips final minicamp practice
Kamara did not participate in New Orleans' final practice of mandatory minicamp Thursday, though he was present at team facilities, Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kamara's absence Thursday appears to be contract related, as he currently has two years remaining on his deal with the Saints. Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that while Kamara is seeking an extension with the team, not much progress has been made. The veteran running back has surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage in seven consecutive seasons, and his versatility remains instrumental to this offense. However, as he heads into his age-29 season, New Orleans could hesitate to re-up on a long-term commitment. Any time missed by Kamara this offseason will open reps up for 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller as well as incumbent backup Jamaal Williams. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:39 am

    • Tweaks hamstring
Coach Kevin Stefanski said Thursday that Garrett (hamstring) "will be fine" after tweaking something during a minicamp drill, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Advice: Garrett's injury appears minor and shouldn't impede his readiness for the start of training camp late July, but due to the nature of soft tissue injuries, the situation should nonetheless be monitored. While he was helped off the field on a cart, Cabot reports that Garrett could have walked off under his own strength. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Garrett has posted six straight seasons with double-digit sacks, and health permitting, a seventh should be right around the corner. • Reports for minicamp
Kamara (ankle) participated in the initial practice of the Saints' mandatory minicamp Tuesday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Advice: Kamara wasn't present for most of the team's offseason program, but his presence this week indicates he's healthy after missing Week 18 of last season due to an ankle injury. While he managed to surpass 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the seventh consecutive campaign in 2023, his 1,160 yards marked the lowest total of his career, partly due to him missing the first three games of the campaign due to a suspension. He'll again have to contend with Jamaal Williams and even Taysom Hill for short-yardage and goal-line work, but Kamara doesn't have much competition for reps otherwise. He's poised for a busy role in New Orleans' new-look scheme under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:09 pm
