    • Schefter: Higgins signs $21.8M franchise tender
Bengals re-signed WR Tee Higgins to a one-year, $21.8 million contract.

Advice: This had been a huge ball in the air for the Bengals as they look to bounce back from their sub-par, injury-marred 2023. Higgins will now be there on Day 1 of camp, presumably without a long-term agreement. The sides have until July 15 to hammer that out, but there has been little indication an agreement will be reached. Coming off by far his worst professional season — one where he missed five games — Higgins is looking to re-establish every-week WR2 status in fantasy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:51 am

    • Signs franchise tag
Higgins signed his franchise tag with the Bengals on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Advice: As a result, the star wideout will report for Cincinnati's training camp poised to make $21.8 million on the one-year tag. Schefter's report also indicates it's unlikely Higgins and the team will come to terms on a long-term deal, making this possibly the 25-year-old's last campaign with the team as the Bengals push for another Super Bowl appearance. The fourth-year wideout struggled with injuries throughout last season and never really got into a rhythm within the offense, especially after quarterback Joe Burrow went down with a season-ending wrist injury in Week 12. With everyone expected to be fully healthy entering the 2024 season, Higgins and the passing unit should be in a position to be electric once again. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:01 am

    • Inks long-term deal
The Jaguars and Lawrence agreed to terms on a five-year, $275 million contract extension Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Lawrence's new deal includes $200 million guaranteed, including $142 million at signing, and the average annual value of $55 million matches Joe Burrow's NFL-leading mark. After Jacksonville extended the fifth-year opinion on Lawrence's rookie contract this spring, it was only a matter of time before the two sides reached an agreement to keep the first overall pick in the 2021 Draft in Duval for the foreseeable future. Through three pro campaigns, he's surpassed 4,000 yards twice while accumulating a 58:39 TD:INT in 50 regular-season games. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:08 pm

    • Jags and Lawrence agree on $275M extension
Jaguars signed QB Trevor Lawrence to a five-year, $275 million contract extension.

Advice: Lawrence gets $200 million in guaranteed money with this deal, with $142 million guaranteed at signing. His $55 million AAV ties Joe Burrow for the highest of any player in the league. It’s a steep but not surprising price to pay for Lawrence, who was drafted No. 1 overall by the Jaguars in 2021. Lawrence has thrown for 11,770 yards, 58 touchdowns, and 39 interceptions in 50 career games and has led his team to a 17-16 record in two years under current head coach Doug Pederson. Lawrence will play under the terms of his rookie deal in 2024 and under a fifth-year option in 2025, meaning the base salary for his new deal won’t kick in until 2026. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:01 pm

    • Sutton a potential training camp holdout?
When asked about whether or not he would report to Broncos training camp, Courtland Sutton said, “We’ll see what happens.”

Advice: Despite reporting for mandatory minicamp this week, Sutton was unwilling to commit to reporting for Broncos training camp next month. The veteran receiver is still in search of a new contract and reiterated his desire to stay with the team, saying, “This is where I want to go hoist the Lombardi Trophy. This is the place where I want to retire.” Sutton, 28, caught 59 passes for 772 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns last season. He hasn’t totaled more than 829 yards since 2019 but remains a reliable threat on the outside, averaging 13.3 YPR over the last four years. He’s reportedly on a new deal, but there’s been little word on whether the Broncos are looking to extend him at this time. Sutton doesn’t project as much more than a fringe WR3/WR4 in PPR leagues this season. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:57 am

    • May still consider holdout
Sutton is still unhappy with his contract and suggested Tuesday that he might consider holding out from training camp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Advice: It would be unusual for a player to report to June minicamp (the first mandatory team activities of the year) and then hold out for the start of training camp. Sutton revealed earlier this week that he had minor ankle surgery in the offseason and was away from the team during OTAs as a result, but it sounds like displeasure with his contract may also have been a factor. While most of his Tuesday comments reflected optimism about eventually reaching an agreement, Sutton also said negotiations "are at a stalemate in a sense." He has two years remaining on his contract, scheduled for $13.6 million in compensation this season ($2 million) and $14 million next year (none guaranteed). Sutton's comments suggest he wants a contract extension, but it won't be shocking if he ultimately settles for an adjustment that adds guaranteed money without adding years. Meanwhile, there's no indication of his ankle still being a problem. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:00 am

    • Exits practice with shoulder injury
Smith-Njigba left Wednesday's practice early with a shoulder injury that coach Mike Macdonald doesn't consider serious, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Macdonald canceled the last day of minicamp (Thursday) to reward his players for a good offseason, so Smith-Njigba's next opportunity to practice will be at the start of training camp in late July. It sounds like the Seahawks expect him to be healthy before then, but we may not have confirmation for a while with players and teams going their separate ways during the league's summer break. • JSN exits Seahawks minicamp with shoulder issue
Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta reports Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba left Wednesday’s practice early with a shoulder issue.

Advice: Though Smith-Njigba left practice, head coach Mike Macdonald indicated it is not a serious issue. Fellow receiver Laviska Shenault also left early after injuring his toe while offensive tackle George Fant did not practice due to load management. The Seahawks have a few minor injuries through minicamp, but nothing has yet to indicate a serious issue amidst the reports. Macdonald ended minicamp early for the team, so the next updates for Smith-Njigba and the others will come later. Rotoworld Wednesday, 5:11 pm

    • Had offseason surgery, feels good
Sutton said Tuesday he underwent ankle surgery earlier this offseason and was away from the team during OTAs as a result of his rehab, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Advice: Sutton added that he feels healthy for the beginning of June minicamp, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. It was presumed that Sutton's absence during OTAs related mostly to ongoing talks on a contract extension, which he said Tuesday are still at a "stalemate." The wideout still has two years remaining on his deal with Denver, but with only $2 million in guarantees. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:47 pm
