  • Courtland Sutton absent from voluntary OTAs
    Courtland Sutton has been absent from Broncos voluntary OTAs.

    Advice: Head coach Sean Payton said he and the team are not concerned about Sutton, who is remaining away from the team as he waits out a new contract. The Broncos fielded trade offers for Sutton earlier this offseason but opted not to trade the disgruntled receiver, who is set to earn $17.825 million this season. Sutton caught 59 passes for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns in 16 games last season and hasn’t gone for more than 829 yards in any of his last four seasons.     Coach Brian Daboll relayed Thursday that Waller remains absent from the Giants' OTAs, Pat Leonard of the Daily News reports.

    Advice: Waller's absence isn't surprising given that he's considering retirement, but Daboll indicated that the Giants plan to give the 31-year-old tight end the time he needs to make a call on his plans for 2024."[We will] let Darren take what [time] he needs to take, and once the decision is made, we'll go from there," Daboll noted Thursday. If Waller elects not to play this season, Daniel Bellingerwould be the next man up in a TE corps that also currently includes Theo Johnson, Jack Stoll, Chris Manhertz, Lawrence Cager and Tyree Jackson.     Broncos HC Sean Payton told reporters he expects TE Greg Dulcich to return prior to training camp.

    Advice: Hamstring and foot injuries ended Dulcich’s 2023 season prematurely but Payton told reporters "[Dulcich] is close [to returning],” per Denver Sports’ Andrew Mason. “His rehab has gone well” and Payton expects Dulcich to return prior to the team’s July training camp.   • Connecting with new QB
    Kmet (forearm) is building chemistry with new rookie quarterback Caleb Williams at OTAs, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports.

    Advice: Kmet suffered a broken right forearm during Chicago's season-ending loss to the Packers in Week 18, but he looks fully healthy at OTAs. The starting tight end could have some extra opportunities to establish a rapport with Williams, given that Rome Odunze is managing a hamstring issue, while Keenan Allen has stayed away from the voluntary activities. Still, the likeliest scenario in this passing game could be that Kmet takes a back seat to all of DJ Moore, Allen and Odunze, and even with his pedigree as the No. 1 overall pick, it seems a long shot that Williams can support four solid fantasy options as a rookie.   • Expects to be ready by Week 1
    Jones (knee) said Thursday he anticipates starting Week 1, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

    Advice: Jones has been participating in 7-on-7 drills at OTAs and said "I don't have any doubt about it" when asked whether he'd suit up to take on the Vikings in Week 1. Additionally, he's already shed his knee brace in workouts, and all signs are that his recovery from a right ACL tear is proceeding smoothly. Jones signed a four-year, $160 million extension last offseason, but that may not give him significant job security if he logs an uninspiring 2024 campaign given both his injury history, and his terrible start to the 2023 season.   • On field for OTAs
    Patrick (Achilles) is participating in Thursday's OTAs session, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: Patrick continues to work his way back from the left Achilles tear that cost him the entire 2023 season. As an ACL tear also wiped out his 2022 campaign, the 30-year-old wideout now hasn't suited up for an NFL game since 2021, and he likely would've been cut this offseason had he not agreed to a pay cut. Health permitting, there's opportunity for Patrick to carve out a role in Denver's wide receiver corps, which gets thin behind Courtland Sutton.     Cook said Thursday he hopes to compete in training camp this offseason with a new team, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

    Advice: Cook said he wants to participate fully in training camp this offseason to "get my legs back under me and feel like myself again." The veteran back is coming off the worst season of his career by a good margin, but says if given a chance to compete, he believes he'll be able to impress new coaches and teammates.   • Monken: Bateman showing ‘tremendous growth’
    Ravens OC Todd Monken said he’s seen “tremendous growth” from Rashod Bateman since midway through last season.

    Advice: Monken also said he expected Bateman to get the ball a lot more this season. Some of this should happen naturally, as the Ravens parted ways with Odell Beckham Jr. after his lone season with the team. Beckham saw 62 targets last year, and the Ravens didn’t add a receiver of note this offseason outside of drafting Devontez Walker in the fourth round. Bateman caught 32 passes for 367 yards and one touchdown last season and has a career receiving line of 93-1167-4. While injuries have slowed him at various points in his career, he suited up for 16 games last season and signed a one-year extension with the team earlier this offseason. Bateman has flashed potential when given the opportunity but needs to start stringing plays together on a more consistent basis if he hopes to look like the player the Ravens drafted at No. 27 overall a few seasons ago.     Odunze (hamstring) is expected to resume practicing next week, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

    Advice: Odunze participated in Chicago's first practice during the team's rookie minicamp earlier this month, but subsequently encountered hamstring tightness, as Dan Weiderer of the Chicago Tribune reports. The Bears seem to have been taking a cautious approach to the recovery of the rookie No. 9 overall pick, but it doesn't look like there's any real concern about his injury. Odunze will have plenty more time this offseason to build chemistry with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, and to find his footing in what figures to be a starting role alongside DJ Moore and Keenan Allen.
