• Time up in Philly
The Eagles released Togiai on Monday.

Advice: Togiai has spent the last three seasons on Philadelphia's practice squad, but he was only elevated for one game in 2023 and failed to record any stats. As Togiai now heads into his age-27 season, he will need to compete for a depth opportunity elsewhere in the league. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

  • Latches on in Chicago
The Bears signed Swain to a contract Monday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Swain spent time on the Dolphins' practice squad last season, but he hasn't played snaps in a game since 2022, when he suited up for three contests with Denver and one for Miami. The 2020 sixth-round pick will have his work cut out to compete for a depth role in Chicago's crowded receiver room. Rotowire.com Today, 11:15 am

  • Joins Detroit
The Lions signed Hesse on Monday.

  • Payton on RB usage: ‘We’ll go by what we see’
Broncos HC Sean Payton said, “We’ll go by what we see” when asked about the possibility of the team holding a running back competition this offseason.

Advice: After Javonte Williams struggled in his first year post-ACL surgery, it isn’t surprising to hear that the Broncos could be more open to how they distribute backfield touches in 2023. While Williams struggled, rookie UDFA Jaleel McLaughlin rushed for 76-410-1 while adding another 31-160-2, looking like the far more efficient and explosive back. Payton was far from committed to a specific running back walking into an RB1 role when asked about a potential camp competition, and said, “Who knows what we’re gonna get,” when trying to sum up how he could see things playing out. Williams will likely be drafted as the presume RB1 in most fantasy drafts this offseason, setting up Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime, and. Blake Watson to look like massive values if either earns a significant role. Samaje Perine, while still with the team, feels like the early odd man out in what’s become a young, crowded backfield. • Bears sign Freddie Swain after tryout
Bears signed WR Freddie Swain, formerly of the Dolphins.

Advice: Swain was a sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2020 and caught 38 passes for 502 yards and six touchdowns in his two seasons with the team. He spent time with the Broncos and Dolphins in 2022 and spent most of last season on the Dolphins’ practice squad. Swain didn’t play a regular-season snap in 2023 and has appeared in just four regular-season games over the last two years. He’ll have to battle for a spot on the Bears’ 53-man roster this offseason. In addition to Swain, the Bears also signed tight end Tommy Sweeney Rotoworld Today, 9:45 am

  • Chiefs and Ravens to kickoff 2024 season opener
The NFL announced the Chiefs will face the Ravens to kickoff the 2024 season.

Advice: The location has changed, but the names remain the same. Last year’s AFC title game that was played in Baltimore between the Ravens and Chiefs is set for a rematch, as the Chiefs will play host to the Ravens to kickoff the 2024 regular season. The two AFC powerhouses will face off on NBC — a network many are saying is the best one to catch a game on. While Lamar Jackson will look to win his second-straight MVP and third in six seasons, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are aiming to become the first team to win three-straight Super Bowl championships. Both teams could once again square off in the playoffs, making the opener an exciting preview of potential things to come for what’s sure to be a great season. Rotoworld Today, 5:46 am

  • Joining Detroit
The Lions are signing Davis to a contract after he attended rookie camp on a tryout basis, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Davis was waived by the Cardinals in late April after spending most of last year on the team's practice squad. He was active for one contest during the campaign but didn't see any snaps. The 25-year-old will get a shot to compete for a roster spot among a WR corps that is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:58 am

  • ‘Fully expected’ Darnold begins offseason as No. 1
ESPN’s Kevin Seifert reports it’s “fully expected” Sam Darnold will begin the Vikings’ offseason program as the No. 1 quarterback over first-round pick J.J. McCarthy.

Advice: In other words, the Vikings are taking the traditional approach of making McCarthy “earn it.” This is a situation where it is not entirely outside the realm of possibility that veteran Darnold actually makes an early-season start or two if McCarthy isn’t ready, but the competition will undoubtedly be rigged in the rookie’s favor. • Gets waived by Carolina
The Panthers waived Camp on Friday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Advice: Camp did not see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at wide receiver in the draft, it opted to cut him. He'll now have to search for another chance with a different franchise. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:54 pm
