    • Inks long-term deal
The Jaguars and Lawrence agreed to terms on a five-year, $275 million contract extension Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Lawrence's new deal includes $142 million fully guaranteed, and the average annual value of $55 million matches Joe Burrow's NFL-leading mark. After Jacksonville extended the fifth-year opinion on Lawrence's rookie contract this spring, it was only a matter of time before the two sides reached an agreement to keep the first overall pick in the 2021 Draft in Duval for the foreseeable future. Through three pro campaigns, he's surpassed 4,000 yards twice while accumulating a 58:39 TD:INT in 50 regular-season games. Rotowire.com Today, 4:08 pm

    • Jags and Lawrence agree on $275M extension
Jaguars signed QB Trevor Lawrence to a five-year, $275 million contract extension.

Advice: Lawrence gets $200 million in guaranteed money with this deal, with $142 million guaranteed at signing. His $55 million AAV ties Joe Burrow for the highest of any player in the league. It’s a steep but not surprising price to pay for Lawrence, who was drafted No. 1 overall by the Jaguars in 2021. Lawrence has thrown for 11,770 yards, 58 touchdowns, and 39 interceptions in 50 career games and has led his team to a 17-16 record in two years under current head coach Doug Pederson. Lawrence will play under the terms of his rookie deal in 2024 and under a fifth-year option in 2025, meaning the base salary for his new deal won’t kick in until 2026. Rotoworld Today, 4:01 pm

    • Saints restructure Taysom Hill’s contract
      Saints restructured Taysom Hill’s contract.

Advice: According to Saints beat writer Nick Underhill, the Saints converted Hill’s base salary into a signing bonus to take his cap number from $15.7 million to $6.8 million. The conversion means Hill is now , but they’ll almost certainly find a way to get out of that when the time comes. The league’s ultimate gadget player totaled 692 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns last season and will be 34 before the start of next season. He remains a potential cheat code in leagues where fantasy managers can roster him as a tight end but has no upside as a quarterback at this time. Rotoworld Today, 11:24 am

    • Falcons lose 2025 fifth-round pick for tampering
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports, “The NFL is docking the Falcons a 2025 fifth-round pick for violating the league’s anti-tampering policy with Kirk Cousins, Darnell Mooney, and Charlie Woerner.”

Advice: When asked about potential tampering violations back in May, Cousins said, “There’s not a whole lot there.” The league, clearly thinking otherwise, has decided there was enough to not only dock the Falcons a future draft pick but also fine the team $250,000 and general Terry Fontenot $50,000. At his introductory press conference with the team back in March, Cousins more or less admitted to tampering when he talked about having contact with the team and free agent signee Darnell Mooney before the official start of the league year. In a statement put out by the league regarding the Falcons’ violation, the NFL said, “While the [anti-tampering] policy permits clubs to engage with and negotiate all aspects of an NFL player contract with the certified agent of any prospective unrestricted free agent during the two-day negotiating period, any direct contact between the player and an employee or representative of the club is prohibited. This includes discussion of travel arrangements or other logistical matters, which the club acknowledges took place with regard to these three players.” Rotoworld Today, 7:56 am

    • Restructures contract
Hill agreed to restructure his contract Tuesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: It's a simple restructure, converting 2024 base salary into a signing bonus to push some of his cap hit from the current season into future years. Early reports from training camp suggested new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak was giving Hill more chances as a running back or fullback, but Hill could now see a lot of snaps at tight end following Thursday's announcement that Juwan Johnson will need foot surgery. The Saints hope Johnson will be ready by Week 1, but it sounds like far from a sure thing. Either way, it may be tough to get a good read on Hill's role under a new coordinator until the season is actually underway. Rotowire.com Today, 7:42 am

    • Will head to camp as QB1
Darnold will be the first-team quarterback when Minnesota begins training camp in late July, ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert reports.

Advice: Darnold took all the first-team reps at June minicamp and reportedly looked sharper than 10th overall draft pick J.J. McCarthy. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that Darnold will remain the top QB for the start of training camp, but O'Connell cautioned that it's one of the many positions at which he anticipates competition later this summer. • Lamar to have more pre-snap responsibility in 2024
The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec says Lamar Jackson is going to have “even more responsibility in the team’s pre-snap operation” this season.

Advice: In his article, Zrebiec writes, “At Wednesday’s minicamp practice, Jackson was challenged throughout by an aggressive defense to change routes, run schemes and protections at the line of scrimmage.” Jackson excelled in his first season under offensive coordinator Todd Monken, winning his second MVP in five years while throwing for a career-high 3,678 yards along with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Now, with a firm grasp of the offense, it sounds like the team is planning to give him more control at the line of scrimmage, which could bode well for his fantasy outlook this season as he looks to make the most of what he’s seeing on the field pre-snap. Jackson, 27, will continue to have overall QB1 upside as long as he continues to destroy opposing defenses on the ground. Rotoworld Today, 6:22 am

    • Jets Robert Saleh downplays Aaron Rodgers’ absence
Per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Robert Saleh said Aaron Rodgers’ absence is “more of an issue for everyone outside the building than it is inside.”

Advice: Saleh prefaced the assurance by saying he and Rodgers “are on the exact same page” and, “There’s no issue between Aaron or his teammates.” Jets cornerback D.J. Reed Jr. validated Saleh’s statement, adding, “That’s our quarterback. If [Rodgers’ prior commitment] is important to him, it’s important to us. It’s really not a big deal.” Rodgers is skipping the team’s full mandatory minicamp, risking more than $100,000 in fines. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:11 pm

    • O’Connell says Darnold is QB1 heading into camp
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said Sam Darnold is the team’s QB1 heading into training camp.

Advice: Darnold is the veteran of Minnesota’s quarterback room and has been the first-string quarterback throughout the offseason program, so O’Connell’s comments should come as no surprise. They don’t guarantee Darnold the starting job for Week 1 either. O’Connell also mentioned wanting to create a competitive environment for his quarterbacks in training camp. Redraft fantasy managers can ignore this quarterback room for now as it’s safe to assume we will see Darnold and first-round rookie J.J. McCarthy at some point this year. Best ball drafters will want to pair McCarthy with at least one locked-in starter if they want to take him as a late-round quarterback. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:59 pm
