  • Competition for starting gig
Turner and Dax Hill are competing for the starting perimeter cornerback role opposite Cam Taylor-Britt, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Turner claimed a starting role with Cincinnati by Week 12 of his rookie season, but the 2023 second-round pick is now in a true competition with Hill, who lined up at safety last season. Conway reports that Hill could have an early lead in the competition as of mandatory minicamp, but it will be difficult to make much of offseason practices until full pads come on at training camp in late July. • Pushing for starting role
Hill is competing with DJ Turner for the perimeter role opposite opposite of Cam Taylor-Britt and could have an early lead, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Hill, a 2022 first-round pick, impressed at safety in his sophomore season but is now working as an outside cornerback. He boasts a size advantage over Turner, with Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reporting that Hill's physicality has made him stand out, but it's unlikely that anyone will truly pull ahead in the No. 2 corner competition until pads come on in training camp. • Returns healthy for offseason program
Forrest was healthy for spring practices after suffering a season-ending shoulder fracture in October, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.

Advice: Forrest became a starter during the 2022 season and then played 99.1 percent of defensive snaps through Week 5 in 2023. Fellow safety Percy Butler played nearly every snap over the next 10 games following Forrest's injury, recording 57 tackles and six passes defended in that stretch. Forrest seems like the favorite to start in the final season of his rookie contract, but he may spend more time in deep coverage after Washington signed 220-pound Jeremy Chinn to replace Kamren Curl at the other safety spot. Forrest could perhaps have more fantasy value if he ends up starting next to Butler while Chinn guards the slot and/or plays as a pseudo-linebacker. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:43 am

  • Showing no rust
Rodgers, who missed the entire 2023 season due to a suspension for violating the NFL's gambling policy, has been one of Philadelphia's most impressive players this offseason, Tim McManus of ESPN reports.

Advice: Rodgers doesn't seem to have slowed down at all despite being a year removed from the NFL field, with teammate A.J. Brown saying "he's flying around, and he's going to do special stuff for us this year." McManus reports that Rodgers will be in position to compete for a starting spot at outside corner opposite Darius Slay during training camp, primarily vying with Kelee Ringo and rookie first-round pick Quinyon Mitchell for the role. • Time up in Seattle
The Seahawks waived Torrence on Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Advice: Torrence signed with the Seahawks shortly after going unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he'll now need to search for an opportunity elsewhere in the league. The 6-foot-3 corner spent OTAs and mandatory minicamp in Seattle. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:21 pm

  • Making good recovery progress
Coach Sean McVay said during June minicamp that White (Achilles) is "making good progress" but is uncertain for the start of training camp in late July, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.

Advice: White is currently working his way back from a right Achilles' tendon tear that cut his 2023 season short in October, and in 2022 he only suited up for six games before suffering a torn ACL. Since signing a one-year deal with the Rams, White has spent most of the offseason working off to the side with trainers, but he was reportedly able to participate in walkthroughs during the final week of OTAs. The 29-year-old figures to start at cornerback when he's healthy, but it remains to be seen whether he'll be ready to practice by the start of training camp, or to play a full share of snaps Week 1. • Let go by Jets
The Jets cut Hayes on Monday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Per the report, the move arrives a day after the cornerback -- who first saw NFL action in 2019 -- was arrested in Alabama for possession of marijuana. Hayes, who signed with the Jets' practice squad last October, recorded two tackles in Week 6 of the 2023 season and then spent the remainder of the campaign on the team's practice squad. • Tae Hayes released by Jets after arrest
    Jets released CB Tae Hayes.

Advice: Hayes was arrested in Morgan County, Alabama, over the weekend for marijuana possession. The 2019 UDFA has spent time with nine different teams over his six-year career but has appeared in just 14 games, playing primarily on special teams. Rotoworld Monday, 11:47 am

  • Lewis Cine at risk of being a training camp cut?
According to an article on ESPN, Vikings S Lewis Cine ‘might have the toughest chance of earning a roster spot’ this season.

Advice: The article also noted that Cine “appeared to be no better than the sixth safety on the [Vikings’] roster.” Cine was drafted by the Vikings with the No. 32 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft but has played in just 10 games since entering the league. The former Georgia safety suffered a compound fracture to his left leg in Week 4 of his rookie season and has yet to make a start as a pro. Cine has just one career tackle to his name and has played on only 10 career defensive snaps. Between his limited usage over two seasons and the latest rumors out of camp, it sounds like Cine is a legitimate risk of being left off of the 53-man roster despite the former first-rounder being just two years into his career.
