• Dealing with minor shoulder injury
Olave injured his shoulder in the weight room a few weeks ago and has been wearing a no-contact jersey at recent OTA practices, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Advice: The injury is seemingly a minor one, considering Olave has been a full practice participant while donning the no-contract jersey, per Paras. Olave should be fine for the start of training camp in late July, at which point he'll be the clear centerpiece of the Saints passing game under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. • Practicing after knee injury
Palmer (knee) handled his most reps of the offseason during Tuesday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Palmer averaged a career-high 58.1 receiving yards per game last season, but he missed Weeks 9 through 14 with a knee sprain and then suffered another knee injury in the season finale. After spending part of the offseason rehabbing, Palmer has resumed practicing with teammates and is the safest bet to start at WR in a new-look Chargers offense under coordinator Greg Roman. The team moved on from Keenan Allen and Mike Williams (knee) this offseason before bringing in second-round pick Ladd McConkey and veteran DJ Chark. There's a breakout opportunity for Palmer in the final season of his rookie contract, if he can combine the volume he saw in 2022 (107 targets) with the big-play ability he flashed last year (15.3 yards per catch, career-high 11.2 aDOT). On the other hand, he's never been targeted on more than 18.1 percent of his routes in a season, even though Williams and Allen combined for only 39 appearances (out of a possible 68) the past two years. • Hoping to play long beyond 2024
Allen said Monday that he's "going to play as long as I can" and is willing to sign an extension with Chicago, Patrick Finley of the Chicago-Sun Times reports.

Advice: The Bears reportedly haven't held extension talks with Allen since acquiring him from the Chargers in March, which isn't exactly a surprise given that they used a first-round pick on receiver Rome Odunze six weeks later and may want to sign DJ Moore to an extension this offseason. Regardless of what happens with the contracts, No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams will have one of the best wideout trios in the league, with Moore and Allen both coming off 2023 seasons with career highs for yards per game. Allen is likely looking at a big volume dip in his age-32 season after averaging a league-high 11.5 targets in his 13 games for the Chargers in 2023, but he doesn't seem to be thinking about retirement just yet, instead perhaps counting on another productive season and a big fourth contract. He's expected to be the Bears' slot receiver in three-wide formations and their "Z" receiver in two-wide looks. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:37 am

  • Chargers WR coach: Johnston has ‘a lot of juice’
Chargers wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Quentin Johnston has “got a lot of juice.”

Advice: Lal, a former receivers coach in Seattle, has reportedly put the second-year wideout “through some of the same drills he used with DK Metcalf to help spur faster breaks in a route.” “He’s got a lot of juice. He almost bounds when he runs,” Lal said of Johnston. “Working on his body positioning is one of the biggest things that we’ve done. He’s really improved some of his stop-type of routes, like keeping his shoulders over his feet longer and not looking early. That’s a big jump he’s made so far.” Johnston blamed a lack of focus on his untimely dropped passes during his disastrous rookie season in LA, and pledged to work harder to eliminate mistakes on the field. Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz said in May that the team expects Johnston to “launch” in 2024. The team is expected to use Johnston in more varied ways after he lined up out wide on 90 percent of his routes in 2023.

  • Brandon Aiyuk holding out of minicamp
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk is not present at the start of mandatory minicamp.

Advice: With top receivers getting paid this offseason, Aiyuk is now holding out to get his own top-of-the-market contract. It was previously reported that he was looking for a contract extension similar to the one Amon-Ra St. Brown received. Aiyuk is set to earn just over $14 million on his fifth-year option, but he is looking for long-term security. With Justin Jefferson just getting paid after Devonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and others signed new contracts this offseason, Aiyuk could see a deal in the ballpark of the $28-$30 million per year that Waddle and St. Brown received. As NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport notes, the next potential holdout for Aiyuk will be training camp. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:46 pm

  • Placed on injured reserve
Thompkins (hamstring) reverted to IR on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Thompkins will now likely miss the 2024 campaign with his shift to injured reserve. However, if he can reach an injury settlement with the Buccaneers, he'd be free to find an opportunity elsewhere once he can prove himself healthy. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:51 pm

  • Gets cut loose
Jackson was waived by the Falcons on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Jackson linked up with the Falcons earlier in the spring as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers. He'll now have to find a new opportunity if he plans to suit up for an NFL team in 2024. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:36 pm

  • Gets look at new position
Harry has gotten work at tight end during OTAs, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Harry has struggled to find his footing in the NFL since being selected in the first round of the 2019 Draft by the Patriots. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, the 26-year-old arguably has the size of the position, and the shift could help him find the potential he was drafted for in the league. • N’Keal Harry taking tight end reps during OTAs
ESPN’s Kevin Seifert reports that WR N’Keal Harry has been working with the tight ends during Vikings’ practices.

Advice: Whiles he’s still listed as a receiver, Harry (listed at 6-4, 225 pounds) has been trying his hand at tight end. With his best season being a 33-309-2 campaign in 2020 for the Patriots, it doesn’t seem like a bad idea. The Vikings will be looking for production at the tight end position with T.J. Hockenson on the shelf for a while. Josh Oliver and Robert Tonyan lead the way for now, but Harry could have an athletic advantage over both. It’s not worth going crazy over yet, but for now it’s an interesting development. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:46 pm
