• Healthy and vying for backup role
Hull (knee) appears set to compete with Trey Sermon for the backup role behind starter Jonathan Taylor this offseason, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Hull is back to full health after a knee injury limited him to just one appearance as a rookie in 2023, per Paul Bretl of USA Today. After Zack Moss was able to thrive as the backup to Taylor in 2023, fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on which of Hull and Sermon managers to show out better in training camp and preseason action. Sermon could have a leg up to begin the competition, but as Boyd notes, he's totaled just 78 carries in his career and isn't significantly more established than Hull. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

  • Houston swoops in for trade
The Rams have agreed to trade Skowronek, who was slated to be waived Thursday, to the Texans, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Los Angeles informed Skowronek that he would hit waivers Thursday, but the Texans came calling before the transaction could become official. A 2021 seventh-round pick, Skowronek was mostly limited to special teams in 2023, but he racked up 376 receiving yards on 39 back in 2022, while demonstrating the versatility to line up across multiple formations. Now, Skowronek will face the challenge of competing with the likes of Robert Woods, John Metchie and Noah Brown (shoulder) for a depth role in Houston's crowded wide receiver corps. • Instead of release, Rams deal Skowronek to Texans
Texans acquired WR Ben Skowronek from the Rams in exchange for draft picks.

Advice: It was rumored earlier in the day that the Rams were planning to release Skowronek, who was a seventh-round pick from the 2021 class. Now, the Rams are set to deal Skowronek and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Texans in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. Skowronek, who has a receiving line of 58-575-1 through 45 career games, joins a crowded receiver room in Houston but can provide added depth both out wide and in the slot. He’s made 12 starts in his career but has surpassed 50 receiving yards just once in his career. Rotoworld Today, 11:28 am

  • Could take step forward in Year 2
Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer and Zac Jackson of The Athletic suggest that Tillman (concussion) is a candidate to take a step forward in his second season as a pro.

Advice: Per Cabot, the Browns figure to frequently employ Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore in three-receiver sets, but Tillman nonetheless should see his share of opportunities as the season progresses, especially if injuries hit the aforementioned trio. As a rookie, the 2023 third-round pick recorded a 21-224-0 line on 44 targets in 14 regular-season games, but if he's able to carve out steadier playing time in 2024, the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder -- who missed Cleveland's wild-card loss to the Texans with a concussion -- could emerge as a solid complementary option alongside the team's top pass catchers. Also in the mix for snaps in the Browns' WR corps are 2022 third-rounder David Bell and 2024 fifth-rounder Jamari Thrash. Rotowire.com Today, 8:49 am

  • Time up with Rams
The Rams are slated to waive Skowronek, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Skowronek, a 2021 seventh-round pick, finished his third season with the Rams with a career-low 66 receiving yards across 17 appearances, while mostly contributing on special teams. The soon-to-be 27-year-old is versatile enough to line up in a variety of roles on offense, so it's a bit of a surprise to see him be cut before training camp. He figures to resurface in a depth role elsewhere in the league. Rotowire.com Today, 8:46 am

  • Rams part ways with veteran Ben Skowronek
    Rams released WR Ben Skowronek.

Advice: Skowronek made the Rams as a seventh-round pick from the 2021 draft class. The former Notre Dame receiver was named team captain last season and totaled 58 receptions for 575 yards and one touchdown during his three-year stint with the team. After playing on a career-high 698 offensive snaps in 2022, Skowronek was relegated to true backup duties last season, appearing on just 216 offensive snaps while running a career-low 83 routes. Capable of playing both outside and from the slot, Skowronek will likely find a new home ahead of training camp and have a chance to compete for a spot on a 53-man roster. Rotoworld Today, 8:29 am

  • Battling for depth role
Davidson (undisclosed) is competing for one of the Bills' final roster spots at tight end this offseason, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Davidson missed the entire 2023 campaign after the Bills placed him on injured reserve last June. The nature of the 25-year-old's injury was never disclosed, though he looks to be past the issue now that he's being viewed as a candidate for a depth role at tight end. Davidson's primary competition for slotting behind Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox should come from Tre' McKitty and Quintin Morris. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:04 pm

  • Schefter: Zay Jones to visit Chiefs
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that former Jaguars WR Zay Jones is scheduled to meet with the Chiefs Thursday.

Advice: Jones has visited the Titans, Cardinals, and Cowboys so far in his free agency. He was released by the Jaguars after they added Brian Thomas in the 2024 NFL Draft. Though Jones battled injuries for much of last season, he hit a career-high 8-823-5 mark with the Jaguars in 2022. Meanwhile, the Chiefs may be without Rashee Rice for much of next season if he is suspended for his legal troubles. The 29-year-old Jones would add a bigger target for Patrick Mahomes in the Chiefs offense, which added Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy as well. Kansas City will be the fourth city in Jones’ free agency tour. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm

  • Waived from IR
The Packers waived Pitts (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Pitts signed a reserve/future contract with Green Bay in January. The 24-year-old was then waived with an injury designation Monday, and he reverted to the Packers' injured reserve after going unclaimed on waivers. While the nature of his injury is still unclear, Pitts will now be eligible to join up with a different team this offseason. He has yet to make his NFL debut since entering the professional ranks in 2023. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:19 pm
