• Participating in OTAs
Ford-Wheaton (knee) was an active participant at the Giants' team OTAs this week, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Ford-Wheaton missed the entirety of last season after suffering a torn ACL in the preseason, but he now looks to be all set to return to the field in 2024. The wide receiver joined New York as an undrafted free agent in 2023 after a senior campaign with West Virginia in which he secured 62 receptions for 675 yards and seven touchdowns and he'll attempt to crack the Giants' active roster in order to make his NFL debut this year. • Participating in OTAs
Long (knee) has been a participant at the Rams' OTA sessions, Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire reports.

Advice: Long finished the 2023 campaign on injured reserve following MCL surgery, but he now looks to be fully healthy heading into the 2024. The tight end appeared in four games last season, failing to garner a target while playing 54 offensive snaps and he projects to be a depth option behind Tyler Higbee (knee), Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen this year. • Active for OTAs
Fotheringham (hamstring) has been participating in the Raiders' OTA sessions.

Advice: Fotheringham suffered a hamstring injury in the team's Week 17 matchup with the Colts before signing a reserve/future contract with the Raiders in January. He now looks to be a full go ahead of the 2024 campaign after he appeared in two contests with Las Vegas last season, reeling in his only target for six yards while playing 21 offensive snaps. The 26-year-old will attempt to carve out a reserve tight end role this season behind Michael Mayer and Brock Bowers. Rotowire.com Thursday, 5:03 pm

  • Inks deal with Pittsburgh
Perine and the Steelers agreed on a one-year contract Thursday.

Advice: Perine was waived by Kansas City this past Friday and it took less than a week for him to find a new home in Pittsburgh. The running back compiled 77 rushing yards on 22 carries while also recording three catches for 33 yards over five games with Kansas City in 2023. • Steelers sign La’Mical Perine to deal
Steelers signed RB La’Mical Perine, formerly of the Chiefs.

Advice: A week after being released by the Chiefs, Perine now lands with the Steelers with a chance to make the roster as added backfield depth. The fifth-year pro has a career rushing line of 94-340-2 in 17 career games and appeared in just three games for the Chiefs last season. With Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, and Cordarrell Patterson’s roles already in place for the season, Perine will likely be competing to be the fourth running back on the depth chart. • Not taking part in OTAs
Aiyuk remains away from team facilities for OTAs as he continues to negotiate for a contract extension, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

Advice: Aiyuk wasn't present at San Francisco's facility for offseason activities back in April, so it's unsurprising to see him still absent for voluntary OTAs. The wideout hasn't indicated, however, that he'll consider an extended holdout if contract talks remain at a standstill when mandatory minicamp kicks off. Aiyuk is currently slated to play out the 2024 season on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, which would pay him $14.12 million, while recent contracts for the top players at his position have landed in the range of $30 million annually. The 49ers selected Ricky Pearsall in the first round of April's draft and have Jauan Jennings returning behind top wideout Deebo Samuel, giving the team some additional leverage in negotiations.
