• Burrow says he’ll be ‘ready to go by the season’
Joe Burrow (wrist) said he’ll be “ready to go by the season.”

Advice: Coming off surgery on his wrist after sustaining a season-ending injury last fall, Burrow said it’s hard to estimate how far along he is in his recovery. He assured reporters he’ll be ready for the start of the regular season. That could mean Burrow will be limited and carefully managed by the Bengals this summer. The Bengals’ 2024 prospects hinge entirely on the availability of the oft-injured Burrow, entering his age-27 season. Jake Browning would serve as the team’s starting QB if Burrow misses time again in 2024. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:13 am

  • Progresses to 7-on-7s
Watson (shoulder) is throwing passes in 7-on-7 drills Tuesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Advice: It's the first time Watson has thrown passes in 7-on-7s during the offseason, making this a tangible step forward on the first day of June minicamp. He seems to be on track for 11-on-11s at the start of training camp in late July, although it's not a guarantee given that the Browns seem inclined toward caution with his recovery. Watson had surgery last November to repair a displaced glenoid fracture in his right shoulder -- an uncommon injury without any known precedent among NFL quarterbacks. He seems to be progressing as the Browns had hoped, with Petrak noting that Watson's throwing velocity looked good during Tuesday's practice. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:08 am

  • Deshaun Watson (shoulder) throwing in minicamp
Deshaun Watson (shoulder) was seen throwing during Browns minicamp.

Advice: It’s a good sign for Watson, whose throwing has been carefully managed by Browns coaches and team doctors during spring practices. He’s recovering from a major 2023 shoulder injury that required surgery and is expected to be ready for Week 1. Any setbacks for Watson this summer would make Jameis Winston the favorite to start under center for Cleveland. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:48 am

  • Not quite ready for 11-on-11s.
Jones (knee) won't do team drills at June minicamp but may be ready by training camp, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Updates this spring suggest Jones' recovery is coming along well, with the QB saying in late May that he anticipates starting Week 1. He participated in some 7-on-7 drills at OTAs and has already shed his knee brace during workouts. For now, Drew Lock will continue taking most of the first-team QB reps in 11-on-11s. • Skipping minicamp
Rodgers (Achilles) is missing June minicamp for an unspecified event, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: The absence technically is unexcused, though Rodgers informed the Jets well ahead of time. That means he can be fined by the team, which apparently is a price he's willing to pay to attend his event. Head coach Robert Saleh didn't seem bothered by the absence, perhaps because Rodgers was at a number of voluntary practices this spring. The 40-year-old quarterback seems to have avoided setbacks in his recovery from the torn Achilles' tendon he suffered last September and should be a full participant for the start of training camp in late July. • Aaron Rodgers a surprise no-show at Jets minicamp
Jets HC Robert Saleh said Aaron Rodgers did not report to mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.

Advice: Rodgers’ absence is unexcused, meaning he is subject to fines for missing the practice. According to Saleh, Rodgers is away for an event that is “important to him.” Rodgers has been practicing with the team all spring, but his absence on Tuesday is surprising and will undoubtedly make for an interesting talking point. It goes without saying that Rodgers will play a vital role in how far the Jets can go in 2024 after a torn Achilles ended his season just four plays into the year. Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas are also banking on a big season from Rodgers, as both appear to be on the hot seat following a disastrous few seasons. With minicamp scheduled to run until Thursday, June 13, it’s possible Rodgers reports before the team heads to summer break. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:51 am

  • Rudolph and Willis will get ‘fair shake’ at QB2
Titans HC Brian Callahan said Mason Rudolph and Malik Willis will “both get a fair shake at the two-job.”

Advice: Willis is the incumbent, but Rudolph is the backup brought in by Callahan, who is in his first year with the team. Rudolph has also been the more successful quarterback over his career, going 8-4-1 in his 13 career starts while throwing for 3,085-19-11. It’s far from impressive, but Willis has instilled no confidence in his limited opportunities, completing just 53 percent of his 66 passes in his career while throwing for 350 scoreless yards and three interceptions. Willis is a dual-threat quarterback who was once viewed by many as the QB1 of a weak 2022 class. However, it often felt like the old regime was trying to fit a square peg into a round hole when it came to his skill-set and the offense, which was more catered to Ryan Tannehill. If the Titans only keep two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, Willis looks like the early favorite to be the odd man out, but we’ll see how things unfold in camp. Rotoworld Monday, 1:40 pm

  • Brissett on Maye: ‘Every day he’s gotten better’
Jacoby Brissett said of QB Drake Maye, “Every day he’s gotten better.”

Advice: Brissett also added that the team has seen Maye’s “progression come alive” in OTAs and at mandatory minicamp. Last week, Maye earned some reps with the second-team offense and was working with the same group on Monday when the team opened its first day of minicamp. Head coach Jerod Mayo said we at this time, but it’s hard to ignore what we’re seeing. It’s too early to know whether or not Maye will threaten Brissett for the Week 1 nod out of training camp, but if he’s already moved past Bailey Zappe, that leaves only one more hurdle for the No. 3 overall pick to clear in training camp. • A-Rich: ‘Soreness nothing to worry about’
Colts QB Anthony Richardson said his shoulder soreness is “nothing to worry about.”

Advice: This reinforces previous reports that downplayed the severity of the discomfort in the second-year quarterback’s throwing shoulder, the same shoulder he had surgery on after just five games in his rookie campaign. There isn’t enough to raise concern regarding his surgically repaired shoulder at this point, but it is something fantasy gamers will want to monitor as the summer progresses from organized team activities to camp and preseason. When healthy, Richardson proved to be one of the most dynamic play makers in the league after surging to five total touchdowns in just over eight quarters worth of play in 2023.
