Inside the Draft

Player Outlooks

- Round 1, Pick 9 - Bye 7

2023 Rank: 1131 - 2022 Rank: 59

Not all careers progress linearly, but Wilson's certainly has. A third-round pick in 2020, Wilson served primarily on special teams as a rookie. He took a step forward in 2021, only to truly break out in 2022 by tallying 123 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Though he's not overly athletic, Wilson has shown enough intelligence to be an asset in coverage as he has racked up 11 passes defended and seven interceptions across 40 career games. He's a true three-down linebacker. Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, Wilson will certainly be a key member of the Bengals defense yet again. The only question is his health, as he's missed eight games in his three-year career.

- Round 2, Pick 12 - Bye 7

2023 Rank: 1282 - 2022 Rank: 16

Entering his ninth NFL season, Mosley has emerged as one of the most consistent tacklers in the league, topping 100 stops on six occasions. However, he's particularly blossomed under coach Robert Saleh in the last two years, posting his two highest tackle-total seasons and totaling 326 stops. Even at a relatively advanced age of 31, Mosley has recently shown the ability to improve his skills. He tallied seven passes defensed in 2022, his highest mark since the 2017 season. Given the wear and tear on his body, there will be some risk that Mosley will either lose a step or lose out on playing time due to injury in 2023 and beyond. However, it's hard to argue with his track record until he shows tangible signs of slowing down.

- Round 3, Pick 29 - Bye 9

2023 Rank: 1167 - 2022 Rank: 111

Campbell has been the model of consistency across his seven-year career in the NFL, topping 90 tackles in each of his last six. In part, his production has been dictated by model health, as he played 16 games in each season from 2017-2021. That run ended in 2022, when a knee injury cost Campbell four contests. However, his production was otherwise right on target, and he was on pace for 137 tackles if he'd played the same number of snaps as the year before. One unique area that Campbell has produced is in coverage, as he has two picks in three of the last four campaigns. Overall, he's been an excellent fit for coordinator Joe Barry's 3-4 scheme since the duo arrived in Green Bay in 2021, and Campbell has been free to focus on chasing after ball carriers.

- Round 4, Pick 32 - Bye 5

2023 Rank: 1262 - 2022 Rank: 22

Hicks joined the Vikings in 2022, his third team in his eight-year NFL career. He didn't miss a beat with the switch, tallying 128 tackles - the second-highest mark of his career - to top the century mark for the fourth consecutive campaign. Minnesota also asked Hicks to take on additional responsibilities in coverage, and he rose to the occasion by racking up 10 passes defensed. Entering his age-31 season, Hicks has been a picture of health by playing in every game across the last four campaigns. Assuming that continues, he'll remain a prominent member of the defense and is also a good bet to add to his impressive career resume.

- Round 5, Pick 49 - Bye 5

2023 Rank: 549 - 2022 Rank: 13

- Round 6, Pick 52 - Bye 13

2023 Rank: 390 - 2022 Rank: 77

The Bears selected Brisker in the second round of the 2022 Draft, and he immediately proved to be an impact player. Though he plays in the secondary, he made plays all over the field by proving adept at rushing the passer as illustrated by his four sacks. He was steady as a tackler and willing to help stop the run game, racking up 104 stops in 15 games. Of course, he also had responsibilities in coverage and chipped in two passes defended and a pick. Working alongside veteran safety Eddie Jackson should allow Brisker to continue to improve and potentially begin to approach top-flight status as an IDP. That's particularly true because his production isn't reliant solely upon racking up tackles.

- Round 7, Pick 69 - Bye 6

2023 Rank: 1858 - 2022 Rank: 62

- Round 8, Pick 72 - Bye 11

2023 Rank: 554 - 2022 Rank: 48

Grant had a modest rookie season, playing nearly as much on special teams as he did on the Falcons' defensive unit. However, he took a major step forward after winning a starting job in 2022 and became a near-every-down player. That allowed him to total 123 tackles, seven pass defenses, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery across 17 games. Despite that production, the Falcons added Jessie Bates to their secondary this offseason, creating competition for Grant. Specifically, he will have to compete with Jaylinn Hawkins for the starting strong safety job. The end result could be a rotation at the position, so Grant comes with significant risk to take a step back from his 2022 production.

- Round 9, Pick 89 - Bye 14

2023 Rank: 1314 - 2022 Rank: 101

Washington took Davis 19th overall in the 2021 Draft, capital driven primarily by his size and athleticism after he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash while posting a 132-inch broad jump and 42-inch vertical at the Kentucky Pro Day. However, he entered the NFL with relatively little experience, which limited him to a 59 percent snap share as a rookie. That mark jumped to 85 percent last season, and he should take another step forward in 2023 after the departure of Cole Holcomb. We got a preview of what could be in store for Davis, as he averaged 7.9 tackles after Holcomb's season-ending injury in Week 7. Davis is working his way back from a relatively minor knee procedure, which will be something to monitor during training camp. Assuming he begins the season at full strength as expected, he can be projected to post new career-high marks in both tackles and sacks.
