Having the top pick in the draft doesn't always result in a championship-caliber squad. It very well could in this case, though. Zack's Legendary Team did what top-tier fantasy footballers do when they land the No. 1 overall pick. They put together a juggernaut. The team is particularly strong at running back, as Jonathan Taylor and Leonard Fournette are expected to combine for the highest point total of all starting RB groups in the league. Zack's Legendary Team are projected to finish in first place in Hiawatha Elite League with a mark of 11-3 (1,685 points).

  • Patrick Mahomes

Biggest Steal: What an early-round value for Zack's Legendary Team, who picked up Mahomes in the 4th round, about 12 slots later than his ADP of 36. Coming off a season in which he threw for 4,839 yards and 37 TDs with 13 interceptions and ran for 381 yards and 2 TDs, totaling 375 fantasy points, Mahomes is projected to score 378 fantasy points with the Chiefs. That makes him a valuable No. 1 QB for this squad.

  • Melvin Gordon III

Stretch Pick: You must have had an inside source when deciding to choose Gordon III at No. 73, about 23 picks earlier than his ADP of 96. Projected to score 153 fantasy points this season with the Broncos, he will need to outperform expectations to surpass last year when he ran for 918 yards and 8 TDs and had 28 receptions for 213 yards and 2 TDs to post 167 fantasy points. According to projections, Gordon III will slot in as the No. 3 RB for Zack's Legendary Team to begin the season.

Draft Notes

  • With the selections of Patrick Mahomes, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Harrison Butker, Zack's Legendary Team tied for the highest number of Chiefs on any team in the league. The Chiefs were also popular with your leaguemates, as 10 of them were selected in the draft, more than any other NFL team.

  • Week 11 will be a rude awakening for Zack's Legendary Team, as they have three players on a bye (Leonard Fournette, Tyreek Hill, and James Robinson). Luckily, your Week 11 opponent, DeKaylin Zecharius, will be confronting a similar issue with two players (DK Metcalf and Rachaad White) getting the week off.

  • Zack's Legendary Team have a straightforward path in Hiawatha Elite League this season according to projections with a strength of schedule rated as the easiest. But don't get complacent. For managers who aren't attentive, even soft schedules can become challenging without notice.

  • Zack's Legendary Team must be trying to catch lightning in a bottle, putting together a lineup with an average of 4.5 years of NFL experience, ranking as the 3rd-youngest group in the league. Driving home that point, they selected one rookie (James Cook). In total, there were 14 rookies selected over the course of the Hiawatha Elite League draft.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
