Having the first pick in the draft doesn't guarantee a championship-caliber squad. It very well could in this case, though. Norseman55's Team did what professional fantasy managers do when they land the No. 1 overall pick. They built a juggernaut. The team is notably strong at the running back position, as Christian McCaffrey and Kenyan Drake are expected to combine for the highest point total of all starting RB groups in the league. Norseman55's Team are predicted to finish in first place in Yahoo Public 687 with a mark of 12-2 (2,021 points).

  • Odell Beckham Jr.

Biggest Steal: Norseman55's Team scored a nice early-round bargain with the pick of Beckham Jr. with the 1st pick of the 5th round, about two rounds later than his ADP of 29. After a season in which he racked up 74 receptions for 1,035 yards and 4 TDs, totaling 164 fantasy points, Beckham Jr. is projected to score 237 fantasy points with the Browns. That makes him a valuable No. 1 WR for this squad.

  • Jared Cook

Stretch Pick: We're going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you got distracted right before the selection of Cook with the 1st pick in the 7th round, about 13 picks earlier than his ADP of 74. Projected to score 135 fantasy points this season with the Saints, he'll need to outperform expectations to surpass last year when he grabbed 43 balls for 705 yards and 9 TDs over 14 games, posting 146 fantasy points. According to projections, Cook will slot in as the No. 1 TE for Norseman55's Team to begin the season.

Draft Notes

  • With only one kicker off the board, Norseman55's Team predicted a run looming and got in early, taking Justin Tucker with the 80th pick. In the ensuing round, five more kickers were selected.

  • Week 8 will bring on a case of the Bye Week Blues for Norseman55's Team, as they have five players on a bye (Deshaun Watson, Kenyan Drake, Justin Tucker, J.K. Dobbins, and Denver). Your Week 8 opponent, Paul's Pleasant Team, will be operating at full strength without any players on a bye week.

  • With a strength of schedule ranked as the 2nd-easiest according to projections, Norseman55's Team face one of the least daunting schedules in Yahoo Public 687 this season.

  • Despite unfilled slots at QB, WR, and TE in the 3rd round, Norseman55's Team drafted RB Josh Jacobs with the 21st pick, filling the WR/RB/TE flex position rather than a higher leverage position. They were the first squad to fill a flex position.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
