The sign of a strong GM? Turning a bottom-half draft slot into top-half results. Such was the case with BeastMode Training, which flipped its No. 8 overall pick into a projected 4th-place finish in NJ. The team is notably tough at running back, as Dalvin Cook and Kenyan Drake are expected to combine for the 3rd-highest point total of all starting RB groups in the league. BeastMode Training are predicted to put up a total of 2,614 points based on the current roster, which would result in an 8-6 record.

  • Lamar Jackson

Best Pick: BeastMode Training netted a nice early bargain with the selection of Jackson in the 4th round, about two rounds later than his ADP of 16. After a season in which he threw for 3,127 yards and 36 TDs with 6 interceptions and accumulated 1,206 yards and 7 TDs, totaling 605 fantasy points, Jackson is projected to score 566 fantasy points with the Ravens. That makes him a valuable No. 1 QB for this squad.

  • Brandin Cooks

Reach Pick: Are you willing to reveal your source? We'd love to know what prompted the selection of Cooks in the 9th round, about two rounds earlier than his ADP of 111. Granted, perhaps you're onto something? Projected to score 126 fantasy points this season with the Texans, he seems poised to surpass last year when he recorded 42 receptions for 583 yards and 2 TDs in 14 games, posting 77 fantasy points. According to projected points, Cooks will slot in as the No. 4 WR for BeastMode Training to begin the season.

Draft Notes

  • BeastMode Training face a tough task in Week 8 when they have eight players on a bye, led by Lamar Jackson, Kenyan Drake, and Courtland Sutton. Your Week 8 opponent, Manager-less Team, will have six players getting the week off.

  • With a strength of schedule that rates as the 3rd-easiest based on projected records, BeastMode Training have drawn one of the best schedules in NJ this season.

  • With the 2nd-youngest group in the league at an average of 3.8 years of NFL experience, BeastMode Training have assembled a fairly young roster. Demonstrating their commitment to youth, they selected seven rookies (David Bada, Terrell Lewis, Leo Lewis, Shaquille Quarterman, Matt Leo, Calvin Taylor Jr., and Patrick Queen), the 2nd-highest total of first-year players in the league. In total, there were 58 rookies selected over the course of the NJ draft.

  • Even with unfilled slots at WR and TE in the 5th round, BeastMode Training selected RB David Montgomery with the 48th pick, filling the QB/WR/RB/TE flex position at the expense of a higher leverage position.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
