Having the top pick in the draft doesn't guarantee a championship-caliber squad. It very well could in this case, though. Sledgehammers did what top-tier fantasy footballers do when they land the No. 1 overall pick. They constructed a juggernaut. After picking up multiple Vikings in the early rounds (Dalvin Cook and Stefon Diggs), Sledgehammers are predicted to finish in first place in Super Stars with a mark of 11-2 (2,492 points).

  • A.J. Green

Best Pick: What a great late-round value for Sledgehammers, who got Green with the 1st pick in the 13th round, about five rounds later than his ADP of 67. Following a season in which he racked up 46 catches for 694 yards and 6 TDs in 9 games, totaling 151 fantasy points, Green is projected to score 197 fantasy points with the Bengals. That makes him the No. 5 WR for this squad.

  • Lamar Jackson

Reach Pick: Either you know something we don't or you jumped the gun with your choice of Jackson in the 12th round, about three rounds earlier than his ADP of 117. Maybe you're onto something, though. Projected to score 419 fantasy points this season with the Ravens, he seems set to take a step forward from his rookie year when he threw for 1,201 yards and 6 TDs with 3 INTs and ran for 695 yards and 5 TDs to earn 201 fantasy points. But do you really need an extra QB? After all, you can only start one at a time. According to projected points, Jackson will slot in as the No. 2 QB for Sledgehammers to begin the season.

Draft Notes

  • Sledgehammers prompted a run on the kicker position, taking Greg Zuerlein with the 65th overall pick as the first K off the draft board. Five more kickers went off the board in the following round.

  • The early bird gets the worm. You beat your opponents to the punch at tight end, drafting Travis Kelce (No. 17 overall) as the first TE off the board. You demonstrated more patience at wide receiver, becoming the last owner in the league to draft a WR with the selection of Amari Cooper (No. 32 overall).

  • Sledgehammers have a fairly balanced path in Super Stars this season based on projected records with a strength of schedule that ranks as the 3rd easiest.

  • With the youngest group in the league at an average of 4.1 years of NFL experience, Sledgehammers are leading the youth movement. Still, they didn't select any of the three rookies drafted.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
