After receiving an advantageous draft slot (No. 5 overall), The Philly Special had a wonderful performance. The team is particularly deep at receiver, as DeAndre Hopkins and Mike Williams are expected to combine for the 2nd-highest point total of all starting WR groups in the league. The Philly Special are predicted to finish 1st in First & 10s with a mark of 13-1 (2,105 points).

  • Melvin Gordon III

Biggest Steal: The Philly Special scored a nice early-round value with the selection of Gordon III in the 4th round, about three rounds later than his ADP of 18. Coming off a season in which he rushed for 885 yards and 10 TDs and caught 50 passes for 490 yards and 4 TDs in 12 games, totaling 276 fantasy points, Gordon III is projected to score 292 fantasy points with the Chargers. That makes him a valuable No. 1 RB for this squad.

  • Jared Goff

Reach Pick: You must have had some inside intel when deciding to select Goff with the 5th pick of the 5th round, about two rounds earlier than his ADP of 99. Projected to score 327 fantasy points this season with the Rams, he will be looking to match last year when he threw for 4,688 yards and 32 TDs with 12 interceptions, posting 322 fantasy points. Based on projections, Goff will slot in as the No. 1 QB for The Philly Special to begin the season.

Draft Notes

  • With the selections of Melvin Gordon III, Mike Williams, and Philip Rivers, The Philly Special tied for the highest number of Chargers on any team in First & 10s. League-wide, the most popular team was the Steelers, as nine of them were selected in the draft.

  • Week 10 could present a difficult task for The Philly Special, as they have five players on a bye (DeAndre Hopkins, Zach Ertz, Emmanuel Sanders, Nelson Agholor, and Stephen Gostkowski). Your Week 10 opponent, Gigem Cowboys, won't be quite as short-handed with only two players (DeSean Jackson and Philadelphia) on the sideline.

  • Going off projected records, The Philly Special have one of the toughest schedules late in the season in First & 10s with a strength of schedule for the last four weeks that ranks as the 2nd-most difficult. In spite of that, for the season as a whole, The Philly Special face a pretty fair path that ranks as the 10th hardest.

  • The Philly Special have assembled a fairly old lineup with an average of 6.5 years of NFL experience, ranking as the 2nd-oldest group in the league. Case in point: they didn't select any of the 11 rookies drafted.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
