Picking fourth in the draft, Clots for the win! delivered a roster that even a spurned ex would have to appreciate. They're projected to finish first in Stampede Blue League 9 League at 12-1-0 (2,103 points). They wanted to make sure they had plenty of wideout options, picking DeAndre Hopkins (first round), Julian Edelman (fifth round), Larry Fitzgerald (sixth round), and Allen Hurns (seventh round) with four of their first seven selections. They also landed the best group of RBs in the league, as they added Devonta Freeman, Jamaal Charles, Justin Forsett, and Bilal Powell.

Clots for the win! can chalk up Week 5 as a loss. They have five players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Taking a look at the entire season from start to finish, they have the easiest schedule. Along with the easiest overall schedule, both the first four games and last four games of the season are pretty average for Clots for the win!.

Draft Notes

  • Decent Idea, Mediocre Execution

Clots for the win! will need assistance from the waiver wire in Week 9, as their three WRs with the most projected seasonal points (DeAndre Hopkins, Julian Edelman, and Larry Fitzgerald) will all be on bye that week.

  • Assessing the Assets

RB is the strongest position for Clots for the win!, though WR and K are also better than the league's average.

  • Was That Good for you, Stampede Blue League 9 League?

By racking up the most projected points in the league during both the first and second halves of the draft, Clots for the win! established itself as a fantasy contender.

  • A Pair of Proven Winners

Clots for the win! has a couple of fantasy MVPs in their lineup. Last season, two of their players (DeAndre Hopkins and Devonta Freeman) finished among the top-20 players that were on the most first-place fantasy teams.

  • The Heist Is On

The other league managers passed over a diamond in the rough. According to ADP, Clots for the win! got a steal in snatching Julius Thomas in the ninth round (100th overall pick vs. ADP of 80.9).

  • Insider Trading?

Bilal Powell is owned in only 5% of all Yahoo! leagues. Let's hope that a.) Clots for the win! has some solid insider sources, or b.) he's a close friend of the family.

Player Analysis

    • D. Hopkins, WR
    • Round 1, Pick 4
    Targeting the Texan

Hopkins was one of just three wideouts (along with Julio Jones and Antonio Brown) to get at least 190 targets last year, and only Devonta Freeman and Tom Brady appeared more often on championship rosters than Houston's stud WR.

    • D. Freeman, RB
    • Round 2, Pick 21
    Better Lucky Than Good?

The rest of Stampede Blue League 9 League overlooked a gem, and Clots for the win! made the highest value pick of the round by taking Devonta Freeman.

    • Jamaal Charles, RB
    • Round 3, Pick 28
    An All-Purpose Stat-Stuffer

Jamaal Charles is projected to finish ninth in the league with 1,471 total yards (1,126 rushing, 345 receiving).

    • Drew Brees, QB
    • Round 4, Pick 45
    Like Marino in His Prime

Drew Brees is projected to lead the NFL in both passing yards (4,832) and passing TDs (31.8).

    • Julian Edelman, WR
    • Round 5, Pick 52
    The Power of Persuasion

Now would be a reasonable time for Clots for the win! to encourage the Stampede Blue League 9 League to increase the value of receptions. They grabbed Julian Edelman and his 93 projected catches (ranked eighth in the NFL).

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
