Andrew Luck's Beard had the unfortunate honor of picking ninth overall. It is unclear whether it was luck or monk-level concentration, but Andrew Luck's Beard did well and is projected to finish first in Stampede Blue League 2 League with 2,112 points and a record of 12-1-0. They didn't target any one position early, selecting QB Ben Roethlisberger (40th overall), RB Le'Veon Bell (16th), WR DeAndre Hopkins (9th), and TE Jordan Reed (33rd) within the first five rounds. They also built one of the best QB combos in the league, as they have Roethlisberger and Kirk Cousins on the roster.

Andrew Luck's Beard should use Week 9 to consider life's deeper mysteries, like what was the greatest thing before sliced bread? No, seriously, think about it. It's better than thinking about fantasy football that week. They have five players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Taking a look at the entire season from start to finish, they have the least challenging slate. Along with having the easiest overall schedule, Andrew Luck's Beard also has the league's second-easiest first four games and softest last four games of the season.

Draft Notes

  • Great Idea, Poor Execution

Andrew Luck's Beard might require waiver wire help in Week 8, as their No. 1- (Le'Veon Bell), No. 2- (Rashad Jennings) and No. 4-ranked (DeAngelo Williams) RBs will all be idle that week.

  • Team of Champions?

Andrew Luck's Beard is fielding a team of fantasy MVPs. Last season, three of their players were among the top-20 players that were on the most championship rosters across all Yahoo! leagues: DeAndre Hopkins, DeAngelo Williams, and Gary Barnidge.

  • Defense Wins Championships?

Andrew Luck's Beard chose to go with two DEFs instead of loading up at other spots.

  • A Low Floor, but a High Ceiling?

Andrew Luck's Beard nabbed a sleeper in Matt Bryant with pick No. 160.

  • Biggest Steal

Andrew Luck's Beard may have found a gem in the 10th round, grabbing Gary Barnidge (112th overall pick vs. ADP of 97.5).

  • Gary the Great

Drafting for last year's results is risky, but Barnidge did rank second among TEs for targets (125), third for receptions (79), fourth for yardage (1,043), and fourth for TDs (nine).

Player Analysis

    • D. Hopkins, WR
    • Round 1, Pick 9
    Diagnosis: more DeAndre!

Hopkins' breakout was just what the doctor ordered for fantasy owners last year. Only Devonta Freeman and Tom Brady appeared more often on championship rosters than Houston's star WR.

    • Le'Veon Bell, RB
    • Round 2, Pick 16
    Returning to Excellence

He played in only six games, but Bell joined Adrian Peterson as the only NFL running backs to rush for 90+ yards per game last season.

    • Jordan Reed, TE
    • Round 3, Pick 33
Possession is Nine-Tenths of the Law

Jordan Reed is expected to be a strong possession receiver this year, and his 89 projected catches rank 10th in the league.

    • B. Roethlisberger, QB
    • Round 4, Pick 40
    Like a Prancing Unicorn

Ben Roethlisberger is a fantasy dream. He's predicted to finish fourth in the NFL in passing TDs and second in passing yards.

    • J. Langford, RB
    • Round 6, Pick 64
    Apparently ADP is Overrated

With their sixth-round pick, Andrew Luck's Beard pulled the trigger. They took Jeremy Langford at pick number 64 despite an ADP of just 90 across all Yahoo! leagues.

Best Available

Andrew Luck's Beard has a legit team overall with no subpar positions, but DEF is one position they may want to improve if they feel like tinkering.

    • Indianapolis Defense
    • Rank 253, ADP 129
    • New York Defense
    • Rank 273, ADP 126
    • Baltimore Defense

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
