Raven's Team took a high draft pick and turned it into a playoff-caliber squad with a projected record of 7-6-0 (1,531). They should be able to roll through most of CZNFL A League 16 League on their way to a projected fifth-place finish. They used a conservative plan early to fill out their lineup, selecting QB Aaron Rodgers (30th overall), RBs Todd Gurley (6th) and Latavius Murray (43rd), and WRs Dez Bryant (19th) and Michael Floyd (54th). They also have one of the lowest-scoring groups of WRs in the league, as they have Bryant, Michael Crabtree, Floyd, and Bruce Ellington on their team.

Whether by good fortune or well-planned strategy, Raven's Team has secured a favorable bye week schedule for their superstars. Of their top five players in projected points, none share a common off week. Looking at the season as a whole, they have the lightest slate. In addition to having the easiest overall schedule, Raven's Team also has the second-easiest first four games of the season.

Draft Notes

  • On Autopilot

Choosing which WRs to start should be pretty obvious most weeks for Raven's Team, as projections show a healthy point difference between their third-ranked (Michael Floyd) and fourth-ranked (Bruce Ellington) wideouts.

  • Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

Raven's Team drafted top-3 players at four different positions, including Todd Gurley, Stephen Gostkowski, and Carolina.

  • On the Rise

Raven's Team hopes to break through this season, led by four players who are projected to significantly exceed their fantasy points from last season.

  • Close to the Vest

Raven's Team was focused on a squad with minimal risk, grabbing six "low-risk" players out of 15 picks.

  • Defense Wins Championships?

Raven's Team chose to go with two DEFs instead of loading up at other spots.

  • Super Sleepers

At picks No. 150 and 163, Raven's Team snagged a couple of late-round fliers with upside in Bruce Ellington and Sammie Coates.

Player Analysis

    • Todd Gurley, RB
    • Round 1, Pick 6
    Feed The Beast

Over here we have a rarity in the wild named Todd Gurley. Projected to get a league-leading 343 touches, he feasts on feeble defenses.

    • Dez Bryant, WR
    • Round 2, Pick 19
A Nose for the End Zone

Projections are high for Dez Bryant. He's expected to hit paydirt 9.9 times, ranking him second in the NFL in receiving TDs. In addition, his 1,294 projected receiving yards put him at seventh in the league.

    • Aaron Rodgers, QB
    • Round 3, Pick 30
    A Super Duper Signal-Caller

Aaron Rodgers is projected to rack up 317 points this year, enough to rank third among all QBs.

    • Michael Floyd, WR
    • Round 5, Pick 54
    Rethinking That One

Michael Floyd may not justify his 54th overall draft pick if projections hold true. Currently, he is estimated to fall outside the NFL's top-30 in both yards (34th with 940) and TDs (35th with 6.3).

    • Julius Thomas, TE
    • Round 6, Pick 67
Was the 67th Pick the Right Time for Julius Thomas?

Raven's Team apparently believes so. The Jaguars' tight end is projected to improve to the tune of 102 points this year, after only putting up 76 last year.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent.
