@__mandrew__ received the sixth pick in the draft and used it to build a juggernaut. The majority of the league will spend the season looking up at @__mandrew__ in the standings, as they are expected to finish second in Stampede Blue League 10 League with a record of 11-2-0 (2,016 points). They felt they could wait on quarterback, holding out until the ninth round to secure Ryan Tannehill with the 102nd overall selection. They landed the best group of WRs in the league, as they have Antonio Brown, Keenan Allen, Jordan Matthews, and DeVante Parker for their rotation.

Whether by good fortune or well-planned strategy, @__mandrew__ has secured a favorable bye week schedule for their superstars. Of their top five players in projected points, none share a common off week. Looking at the entire season, they have one of the least challenging schedules. @__mandrew__ has a chance to come out of the gate hot and close strong, as both the first four games and final four games of their season are projected to be less difficult than the league average.

Draft Notes

  • Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

At four different positions, @__mandrew__ picked up projected top-3 players (including Antonio Brown, Matt Forte, and Greg Olsen).

  • "It's Not Whether You Get Knocked Down, It's Whether You Get Up"

After drafting the fewest projected points in the league over the draft's first half, @__mandrew__ accumulated the most during the second half. Vince Lombardi would be proud.

  • Good to Have Balance, Right?

While the bottom half of the @__mandrew__ roster is one of the strongest in the league (projected to be No. 1), the top of the roster is among the weakest (ranked No. 12).

  • Taking Some Time to get Warmed Up

@__mandrew__ got off to a lackluster start, winding up with the weakest projected point total in the league during the first half of the draft.

  • A Pair of Proven Winners

@__mandrew__ has a couple of fantasy MVPs in their lineup. Last season, two of their players (Antonio Brown and Matt Forte) finished among the top-20 players that were on the most first-place fantasy teams.

  • It's How You Finish

@__mandrew__ made every other squad look silly after some amazing halftime adjustments, accumulating the most projected points in the league over the second half of the draft.

Player Analysis

    • Antonio Brown, WR
    • Round 1, Pick 6
    @__mandrew__ Found Their WR1

Brown paced all wideouts with 129 receptions and 1,698 yards last season. Only Demaryius Thomas (184) got more targets than Brown's 181, and only Dez Bryant (16) had more TDs than Brown's 13.

    • Matt Forte, RB
    • Round 2, Pick 19
    Better Lucky Than Good?

The rest of Stampede Blue League 10 League overlooked a gem, and @__mandrew__ made the smartest value pick of the round by taking Matt Forte.

    • J. Matthews, WR
    • Round 3, Pick 30
Which Do You Want First, the Good News or the Bad?

Despite being an above-average player at his position, the selection of Jordan Matthews had less value than any other pick of the round.

    • Greg Olsen, TE
    • Round 4, Pick 43
    Giddy for Greg

Across all Yahoo! leagues, only one TE (Rob Gronkowski) appeared more often on first-place rosters than Olsen last year.

    • T.J. Yeldon, RB
    • Round 5, Pick 54
    Trigger Happy

With their fifth-round pick, @__mandrew__ pulled the trigger. They drafted T.J. Yeldon at pick number 54 despite an ADP of just 83.7 across all Yahoo! leagues.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
