In correlation with this draft, The Polaricans has decided to open a nice little side business that teaches inferior opponents how to draft like a boss. After The Polaricans hopped off the bus they used to take the rest of these kids to school, they built a roster that's projected to finish first in League of the Ordinary League with a record of 11-2-0 (2,510 points). They went after guys who can tote the rock with their early picks, using three of their first five picks to scoop up RBs Jamaal Charles (first round), DeMarco Murray (second round), and Doug Martin (fourth round). A lot will be expected of this group, as they are the best group of RBs in the league.

The Polaricans took advantage of both of their keeper positions, loading up on ball-carriers. They retained a pair of RBs with their keepers-- Jamaal Charles (2 ADP) and DeMarco Murray (16 ADP). On average, their two keepers are substantially more valuable (by 12.1%) than the draft picks that they replaced.

While Week 9 has the most players on bye for The Polaricans (four), Week 7 is actually projected to have the team's highest amount of idle fantasy points. Based on their opponents' projected points, they have the weakest schedule. The Polaricans has a chance to come out of the gate hot and close strong, as both the first four games and final four games of their season are projected to be less difficult than the league average.

Draft Notes

  • Strength in Numbers

In order, the three best positions for The Polaricans are RB, TE, and WR.

  • Up and Comers

Assembling a squad of rising stars is key to fantasy success and The Polaricans may have done just that, with four players estimated to top their prior-season numbers by a substantial amount.

  • Risk Averse

The Polaricans minimized risk by choosing seven consistent players among their 16 picks.

  • Get Off My Lawn

With an average of 8.1 years of NFL experience, The Polaricans is the oldest and by default, least exciting team in the league.

  • A Pair of Proven Winners

The Polaricans has a couple of fantasy MVPs in their lineup. Last season, two of their players (Jamaal Charles and DeMarco Murray) finished among the top-20 players that were on the most first-place fantasy teams.

  • My One and Only

Ignoring roster depth, The Polaricans chose only one player at three different positions (TE, DEF, and K).

Player Analysis

    • Jamaal Charles, RB
    • Round 1, Pick 7
2014 Could be More of the Same

Owners who took a chance on Charles last season were rewarded handsomely, as he was owned on more playoff rosters across Yahoo! than any other RB.

    • DeMarco Murray, RB
    • Round 2, Pick 17
    Stolen In Broad Daylight

DeMarco Murray was the best value pick of the round and could be the cause of many sleepless nights for the other managers.

    • Julio Jones, WR
    • Round 3, Pick 27
    The Power of Persuasion

Now would be a reasonable time for The Polaricans to encourage the League of the Ordinary League to increase the value of receptions. They grabbed Julio Jones and his 105 projected catches (ranked third in the NFL).

    • Doug Martin, RB
    • Round 4, Pick 37
He's a Touchy, Feely Kind of Guy

With 299 touches, Doug Martin is projected to rank seventh in the NFL in that category. How touching, The Polaricans.

    • V. Jackson, WR
    • Round 5, Pick 47
    Biggest Steal

If other Yahoo! users are right, The Polaricans got a steal in the fifth round, when they selected Vincent Jackson (47th overall pick vs. ADP of 34.9).

Best Available

With three below-average positions on The Polaricans, K and DEF are expected to be the worst of those potential areas of need.

    • Dan Carpenter
    • Rank 217, ADP 127
    • Jay Feely
    • Rank 224, ADP 144
    • Arizona Defanse
    • Rank 168, ADP 80
    • Buffalo Defanse
    • Rank 215, ADP 138

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
