      Advice: After being released by the Jaguars earlier this week, it didn't take long for the 28-year-old to catch on with another team. With the Commanders last year, he made 19 of his 24 field-goal tries and 32 of his 35 extra-point attempts across 17 regular-season games. Now that he's with the Patriots, Slye will have an opportunity to compete with 2023 fourth-rounder Chad Ryland, who is coming off an inconsistent rookie campaign for New England.       With veteran newcomer Jacoby Brissett and 2024 first-rounder Drake Maye viewed as roster locks, Zappe figures to compete with rookie sixth-rounder Joe Milton and Nathan Rourke for slotting on the Patriots' QB depth chart, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

      Advice: Alternatively, Callahan suggests that with five QBs in the mix the Patriots could look to move Zappe, who drew six regular-season starts for the team in 2023. For now, however, Zappe remains with the organization that selected him 137th overall in the 2022 Draft. In any case, even if the 25-year-old ends up sticking around as a depth option, he won't have a path to a potential starting role as long as Brissett and Maye are healthy.     • Caserio: Tank Dell ‘doing great’ with recovery
      Texans GM Nick Caserio said Tank Dell is “doing great” after suffering a “minor” gunshot wound.

      Advice: Dell was shot during an altercation in Sanford, Florida, last week and suffered a “minor wound.” He was treated and released from the hospital shortly after, and Caserio said he has “been in and out of the building” since then. With that seeming to be behind him, Dell is also working his way back from a fractured fibula suffered in Week 13 but is expected to be ready in time for the start of the season. Dell posted a 47-709-7 line in 11 games but will face more target competition in 2024 with Stefon Diggs now in town.       Walker is expected to remain the No. 1 running back for the 2024 season after the Seahawks didn't select a running back in the NFL Draft.

      Advice: The Seahawks did sign George Holani and TaMerik Williams as undrafted free agents, per Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic, but neither player presents a real threat to Walker's job. While Walker and 2023 second-round pick Zach Charbonnet split snaps last season, Walker was still the clear No. 1 back with 219 carries for 905 yards (4.1 YPC) and eight touchdowns. He added 29 receptions for 259 yards and a score.       Jones (knee) said Wednesday that he's been running and making cuts during his rehab from a torn right ACL, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

      Advice: Jones went on to say he's "doing everything," and the plan remains for him to be fully cleared for the start of training camp. The veteran quarterback tore his ACL last November and also dealt with neck issues, though Jones said he's over the latter injury. The Giants didn't use a draft pick on a quarterback this offseason, only swapping out veteran backup Tyrod Taylor for Drew Lock in free agency.
