    • Could see more opportunities
In his second season as a pro, Washington believes that there's a "strong possibility" he can emerge as more of a receiving threat, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: In 17 regular-season contests as a rookie last season, Washington caught just seven of his 10 targets for 61 yards, but with new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith on board, the 2023 third-rounder is a candidate to see more pass-catching opportunities in what figures to be a more tight-end friendly offense in Pittsburgh. At 6-foot-7, 264 pounds, Washington has the size to continue to make his mark as a run blocker, but the Georgia product has some untapped potential as a receiver and should have an opportunity to demonstrate that more in 2024, while working behind top option Pat Freiermuth in a TE corps that also includes Connor Heyward and MyCole Pruitt. • Set to compete for WR slotting
As the coming season approaches, Austin is in line to compete with several newcomers for depth chart slotting behind top wideout George Pickens, Chris Ward of Steelersnow.com reports.

Advice: In the wake of the offseason departures of Diontae Johnson and Allen Robinson, the Steelers added Van Jefferson, Quez Watkins and Scott Miller via free agency and used a third-round draft pick on Roman Wilson. Austin, who was taken in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, is coming off a 2023 regular season in which he caught 17 of his 30 targets for 180 yards and a TD while rushing 11 times for 57 yards and a TD in 17 games. In his third season as a pro, the speedy 5-foot-9, 162-pounder has an opportunity to carve out an increased role in Pittsburgh's offense under new coordinator Arthur Smith. • Participating in OTAs
Slayton (thumb) participated in Tuesday's OTAs practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Slayton is working toward a hopeful contract extension with the Giants, but he's on the field for voluntary workouts at OTAs. The 2019 fifth-round pick still appears slated for a starting gig, though rookie first-rounder Malik Nabers should be the top man in this wide receiver corps, with Jalin Hyatt and Wan'Dale Robinson also in the mix. Slayton appears fully healthy after having dealt with a thumb injury down the stretch in 2023. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:27 pm

    • Malik Cunningham makes switch to wide receiver
Ravens QB Malik Cunningham has switched to wide receiver.

Advice: According to Ravens team writer Ryan Mink, the Ravens listed Cunningham as a wide receiver on their roster. Mink also added that Cunningham made “several grabs” during Thursday’s OTAs. Cunningham went undrafted out of Louisville last season and split time at quarterback and receiver with the Patriots last season before being signed off the Patriots practice squad by the Ravens in December. It now appears Cunningham will make a permanent move to receiver for the Ravens, which may give him a better chance at sticking in the league. He’ll have a chance to earn a spot on the 53-man roster this offseason but is most likely to land on the practice squad as a developmental player. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:42 pm

    • Almost over hamstring issue
Odunze (hamstring) is expected to resume practicing next week, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Odunze participated in Chicago's first practice during the team's rookie minicamp earlier this month, but subsequently encountered hamstring tightness, as Dan Weiderer of the Chicago Tribune reports. The Bears seem to have been taking a cautious approach to the recovery of the rookie No. 9 overall pick, but it doesn't look like there's any real concern about his injury. Odunze will have plenty more time this offseason to build chemistry with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, and to find his footing in what figures to be a starting role alongside DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. • Darius Slayton absent from voluntary OTAs
Giants HC Brian Daboll said Darius Slayton has not been attending voluntary OTAs.

Advice: Slayton is entering the final year of his contract and is set to earn $8.15 million this season. The 27-year-old receiver is coming off a season in which he totaled 50 receptions for 770 yards — both career highs — and four touchdowns. A former fifth-round pick of the 2019 draft class, Slayton is hoping to earn a new contract from the Giants before reporting to camp, but there’s been little word on whether or not the Giants plan to give him a new deal at this time. Slayton is a solid field stretcher who has averaged 15.1 YPR for his career. A clear WR2 in an offense that is set to feature Malik Nabers, Slayton, is a near-replacement level player who the team could prefer to try to upgrade over once his current deal expires at the end of this season. • Waived-injured by Atlanta
The Falcons waived Fisk with an injury designation Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Fisk appeared in six games for the Falcons last season, seeing action on 72 offensive snaps and catching his only target for nine yards. The 25-year-old will land on injured reserve if he clears waivers, and there's a chance he's later cut with an injury settlement. The nature of his injury isn't clear. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:38 pm

    • Cowboys QB coach: Trey Lance ‘super coachable’
Cowboys quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien said Trey Lance is “super coachable.”

Advice: “It’s not just hearsay for him, he works at it, whether he’s with us or on his own time. It’s obvious that he works at it and we’re appreciative of that,” Tolzien said after Tuesday’s OTAs. Lance, 24, who was acquired by Dallas last season in exchange for a fourth round draft pick, is expected to see plenty of action in the preseason while Dak Prescott sits. After mostly serving as the Cowboys’ emergency QB3 in 2023, Lance could be Prescott’s direct backup in 2024. His rushing potential could make Lance interesting for fantasy purposes if Prescott misses any time this season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:51 am
