    • Packers, Dolphins to play on Thanksgiving night
The Dolphins will host the Packers on Thanksgiving night.

Advice: The league appears very much willing to feature Jordan Love as a main attraction in 2024 after his outstanding 2023 campaign in which Love established himself as the latest in a line of long-term Green Bay QBs. The Packers will open the season against the Eagles in Brazil. Love and the Packers will take on Tua Tagovailoa in a primetime matchup on Thanksgiving night — a game that will feature plenty of offensive firepower on both sides. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:29 am

    • Jaguars to face new-look Pats, Bears in London
The Jaguars will play the Patriots in London on October 20.

Advice: Jacksonville once again gets two London games, this time against a new-look Patriots team presumably led by third overall pick Drake Maye and the Bears and their new franchise QB Caleb Williams. The Jags, with a strong contingent of fans in the United Kingdom, are 6-5 all time in London games. The other London game in 2024 will be the Jets against the Vikings on October 6. It will mark Aaron Rodgers’ second London game. Rotoworld Wednesday, 5:05 am

    • Report: Arthur Smith revenge game vs ATL Week 1
WSB’s Zach Klein reports the Falcons are expected to play Week 1 at home against the Steelers.

Advice: The Steelers’ current offensive coordinator is the Falcons’ former head coach, Arthur Smith. He will get a chance to debut Pittsburgh’s new offense with Russell Wilson or Justin Fields at the helm against his former team. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins will likely make his Falcons debut in this game, after signing a four-year, $180 million deal with the team. Though Atlanta took Michael Penix Jr. in the draft, Cousins is still expected to be the starter for this season. His return off an Achilles injury, along with Arthur Smith’s new offense, will be the storylines for this game. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:42 pm

    • Let go by Washington
The Commanders cut Fromm on Tuesday.

Advice: Fromm spent the entire 2023 season on Washington's practice squad. The 2020 fifth-round pick's only career snaps in an NFL regular-season game came in 2021 with the Giants. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:00 am

    • Washington releases veteran QB Jake Fromm
      Commanders released QB Jake Fromm.

Advice: It was a quick stay in Washington for Fromm, who hasn’t seen regular season action since 2021 with the Giants. The late-round 2020 draft pick will likely continue bouncing around as a QB3 option in the NFL. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:56 am

    • Jets to open season on MNF for 2nd straight year
The Jets will play the 49ers in Week 1 on Monday Night Football.

Advice: It will be the Jets’ second straight Monday night season opener. Last year’s Week 1 was a waking nightmare for New York as Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles four snaps into the game and missed the rest of the season despite constant talk of an early return from injury. Rodgers and the Jets will take on a stingy Niners defense graded by PFF as 2023’s third best pass rushing unit and second best coverage unit. It will be a tough test for Rodgers, 40, and the Jets offense to start 2024. The game will be something of a homecoming for Jets head coach Robert Saleh, who served as the 49ers defensive coordinator for four years. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:58 am

    • FOX: Cowboys visiting Browns in Week 1
FOX Sports’ Michael Strahan announced that the Cowboys will visit the Browns in Week 1.

Advice: Perhaps bigger than the game itself is who will be calling the game, as this is set to be Tom Brady’s broadcasting debut. The future Hall of Famer, who retired at the end of the 2022 season, to become their next in-game analyst whenever he was ready to do so. He’ll be tasked with calling a game between a Cowboys team led by Dak Prescott in a potential contract year, as they take on the Browns, who hope 2024 is the year the trade for Deshaun Watson finally pays off. • Lands four-year, $212M extension
Goff agreed to a four-year, $212 million contract extension with the Lions on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Advice: The deal contains $170 million guaranteed, and Goff is now the highest-paid player in Lions franchise history. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick of the Rams, Goff was acquired from Los Angeles in the Matthew Stafford deal following the 2020 season and has resurrected his career under Detroit offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. In three seasons with Detroit, Goff has completed 66.5 percent of his passes -- up from 63.4 percent with Los Angeles -- and has thrown for 12,258 yards with a stellar 78:27 TD:INT. He's lowered his turnover rate with Detroit and just helped lead the team to the NFC Championship Game last season. Goff is still just 29 years old and is locked in with the Lions for at least the next few seasons. Rotowire.com Monday, 1:51 pm

    • Jared Goff receives four-year extension from Lions
Lions signed Jared Goff to a four-year, $212 million contract extension.

Advice: Goff was heading into the final year of a four-year extension he originally signed with the Rams in 2019. He was traded to the Lions in 2021, as the team was more than willing to take on his “bad” contract in what was the first year of a rebuild under head coach Dan Campbell. The Lions couldn’t have expected what has followed since acquiring Goff that offseason, as the former No. 1 overall pick has thrown for 12,258-78-27 in his three years with the team, leading them to two winning seasons, and a 12-5 record last season in which they reached the NFC Championship game. Goff’s success with the Lions has, at times, felt synonymous with the grit Campbell constantly mentions when referencing his team. A player who was once thought to be trending toward a role as a career backup has found new life in Detroit and, as a result, has been handsomely rewarded with another massive payday. Goff, who is now the second-highest-paid quarterback in the league on a per-year basis, will receive $170 million in guaranteed money on his new deal and is now to remain with the team in 2028.
