Having the first pick in the draft doesn't guarantee a championship-caliber squad. But it very well could in this case. Shannons Cannons did what top-flight fantasy footballers do when they land the No. 1 overall pick. They constructed a juggernaut. With Saquon Barkley and Todd Gurley II slated to combine for the highest point total of all starting RB groups in the league, Shannons Cannons are predicted to finish in first place in Rogue Squad Football Assoc. with a mark of 12-1 (1,983 points).

  • Josh Gordon

Best Pick: What a tremendous late-round value for Shannons Cannons, who selected Gordon with the 1st pick in the 15th round, about five rounds later than his ADP of 118. Coming off a season in which he caught 41 passes for 737 yards and 4 TDs in 12 games, totaling 98 fantasy points, Gordon is projected to score 89 fantasy points. That makes him a valuable No. 4 WR for this squad.

  • Marquise Brown

Reach Pick: You must know something we don't. We're not sure why else you would select Brown with the 12th pick in the 8th round, about three rounds earlier than his ADP of 127. Brown is projected to score 133 fantasy points this season with the Ravens. Based on projections, Brown will slot in as the No. 2 WR for Shannons Cannons to begin the season.

Draft Notes

  • Shannons Cannons seem particularly thin at running back, taking the fewest of any team in the league with just three, trailing the league average of 4.3.

  • If you're not first, you're last, so good thing you were first. You beat your opponents to the punch at quarterback, drafting Patrick Mahomes (No. 24 overall) as the first QB off the board. You demonstrated more patience at wide receiver, becoming the last owner in the league to draft a WR with the selection of A.J. Green (No. 49 overall).

  • Week 9 will bring a tough challenge for Shannons Cannons, as they have five players on a bye (Andy Dalton, Todd Gurley II, Greg Zuerlein, A.J. Green, and Ted Ginn Jr.). Ben's Super Team, your Week 9 opponent, won't be quite as encumbered with only one player (Drew Brees) on the sideline.

  • With a strength of schedule that rates as the easiest according to projected records, Shannons Cannons have an easy path in Rogue Squad Football Assoc. this season. But that doesn't mean you should rest on your laurels. Light schedules can become tricky without warning for owners who don't remain diligent.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
