When the draft countdown clock hit zero, the GM of MiniWieners put their game face on. Firing on all cylinders from the 10th spot in the draft, they put together a team that's projected to finish first in Stampede Blue League 6 League with a record of 10-3-0 (1,981 points). They loaded up on pass-catching weapons early on, using four of their first seven selections to acquire WRs Emmanuel Sanders (fourth round), Julian Edelman (fifth round), Jarvis Landry (sixth round), and Roddy White (seventh round). They landed the best RB combo in the league, as they added Matt Forte and Lamar Miller to the team.
MiniWieners should use Week 7 to consider life's great mysteries, like why Greenland is ice and Iceland is green. It would be better than checking fantasy football that week. They have six players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Looking at the season as a whole, they have the weakest slate. MiniWieners has the opportunity to start and finish with a flurry, as both the first four games and final four games of their season are projected to be less difficult than the league average.
Draft Notes
-
Maybe You Should Add Tony Gonzalez While You're At It
In Week 7, both Owen Daniels and Virgil Green will be on bye for MiniWieners.
-
Shouldering the Burden
MiniWieners has four above-average positions with QB and RB projected to lead the way.
-
A Dominating Duo
MiniWieners has a pair of fantasy MVPs in their lineup. Last season, two of their players (Matt Forte and Emmanuel Sanders) finished among the top-20 players that were on the most first-place fantasy teams.
-
You Snooze, You Lose
While the rest of the league slept on Virgil Green, MiniWieners pounced on him at pick No. 183.
-
Take One Play Off and He Burns You
MiniWieners drafted one of the most explosive QBs in the league in Philip Rivers. Among NFL QBs, he's projected to rank fifth in plays over 40 yards with 11.1 and TDs over 40 yards with 4.3.
-
Earning His Keep
According to projections, Philip Rivers should finish ranked seventh in the league in passing TDs (29.2) and fifth in passing yards (4,506).
Player Analysis
-
- Matt Forte, RB
- Round 1, Pick 10
Advanced MathIf MiniWieners had a nickel for every time Matt Forte is projected to touch the ball this season, they'd have 306 nickels.
-
- Aaron Rodgers, QB
- Round 2, Pick 15
Insanely EfficientDespite attempting 32.5 passes per game (just 22nd in the league), Rodgers threw for the seventh-most yards (4,381) and third-most TDs (38) last season. A whopping 33 QBs tossed more interceptions than Rodgers' five.
-
- Lamar Miller, RB
- Round 3, Pick 34
Rarely Seen in the WildWith 1,143 projected yards on the ground, Lamar Miller is an elusive three-down back.
-
- E. Sanders, WR
- Round 4, Pick 39
Denver DynamiteA bargain at his ADP last season, Sanders was one of just four WRs to notch 100 receptions in 2014. Only one other WR (Antonio Brown) appeared more often on championship rosters across Yahoo! last season.
-
- Julian Edelman, WR
- Round 5, Pick 58
Stolen In Broad DaylightJulian Edelman was the best value pick of the round and could be the cause of many sleepless nights for the other managers.
Best Available
MiniWieners is projected to have a pair of below-average positions (TE and WR), but TE is clearly their weakest unit and an area that will likely need an upgrade.

How We Grade
Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
