Matt's Fine Team figures to be in the mix for a playoff spot all season, taking the 11th overall draft slot and turning it into a solid team that's expected to go 8-5-0 (2,004 points). With that record, they will likely finish fifth in Stampede Blue League 2 League. They didn't target any one position early, selecting QB Russell Wilson (38th overall), RB Latavius Murray (35th), WR Dez Bryant (11th), and TE Rob Gronkowski (14th) within the first five rounds. They landed the highest-scoring TE combo in the league, as they have Gronkowski and Jordan Reed on their team.

Matt's Fine Team should drop off the grid during Week 9. They have three players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Based on their opponents' projected points, they have the easiest schedule. Along with having the easiest overall schedule, Matt's Fine Team also has the softest last four games of the season.

Draft Notes

  • A Good Problem to Have?

Matt's Fine Team will have some tricky calls to make each week at RB, with a slim projected points difference between their third- (Shane Vereen), fourth- (Duke Johnson Jr.), and fifth-ranked (Todd Gurley) RBs.

  • Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

Matt's Fine Team drafted top-3 players at a trio of different positions (Rob Gronkowski, Buffalo, and Stephen Gostkowski).

  • Stockpiling Talent at TE

Matt's Fine Team should be in good shape with four position groups projected to be better-than-average. TE is definitely the strongest among them.

  • Fantasy FĂștbol

This is the American version, folks. Matt's Fine Team elected to go with two kickers, rather than adding depth at other positions.

  • Big D

Matt's Fine Team elected to go with two DEFs instead of loading up at other spots.

  • The Bargain Whisperer

Matt's Fine Team was hunting for deals throughout the draft, snapping up four steals in the first 10 rounds (including Tom Brady, Stephen Gostkowski, and Todd Gurley).

Player Analysis

    • Dez Bryant, WR
    • Round 1, Pick 11
Possession is Nine-Tenths of the Law

Dez Bryant is expected to be a strong possession receiver this year, and his 87 projected catches rank 10th in the league.

    • Rob Gronkowski, TE
    • Round 2, Pick 14
    Better Lucky Than Good?

The rest of Stampede Blue League 2 League overlooked a gem, and Matt's Fine Team made the smartest value pick of the round by taking Rob Gronkowski.

    • L. Murray, RB
    • Round 3, Pick 35
    How Rebellious of You

Matt's Fine Team said 'no' to the tradition of fantasy drafting a RB early, waiting until the third round to pick up their first (Latavius Murray).

    • Russell Wilson, QB
    • Round 4, Pick 38
Knowing When to Tuck it in and Run

He won't get too flashy in the passing game, but the ability to create with his legs makes Wilson a legitimate threat to NFL defenses -- and to future fantasy opponents of Matt's Fine Team.

    • Golden Tate, WR
    • Round 6, Pick 62
Was the 62nd Pick the Right Time for Golden Tate?

Matt's Fine Team apparently believes it is. The Lions' wide receiver is projected to earn 211 points this year, after putting up 259 last year.

Best Available

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
