The GM of Dick's Dandy Team took the second overall pick and handled it like a seasoned professional. After putting their sweet drafting skills on display for the rest of the league, they're left with a squad that's projected to finish first in Yahoo Public 240579 League with a record of 11-3-0 (1,578 points). With their first five picks, Dick's Dandy Team focused on a balanced offensive attack, selecting QB Drew Brees (42nd overall), RBs Eddie Lacy (2nd) and Todd Gurley (39th), and WRs Calvin Johnson (19th) and Jordy Nelson (22nd). They ended up with one of the highest-scoring groups of WRs in the league, as they added Johnson, Nelson and Keenan Allen for their rotation.

Dick's Dandy Team can chalk up Week 7 as a loss. They have four players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Looking at the entire season, they have a weaker-than-average schedule. Dick's Dandy Team has the opportunity to come out firing, as the first four games of their season are projected to be less difficult than the league average.

Draft Notes

  • Single-Bar Facemasks

Dick's Dandy Team knows this is American football, right? They elected to go with two kickers, instead of stockpiling depth at other positions.

  • Don't Get Too Defensive Over This

But Dick's Dandy Team drafted Arizona with the 82nd pick, even though their ADP is only 93.1 across all Yahoo! leagues.

Player Analysis

    • Eddie Lacy, RB
    • Round 1, Pick 2
Eddie Lacy Doesn't Read the Playbook

The playbook reads him. Dick's Dandy Team should be in decent shape if Lacy gets his 314 projected touches this year.

    • Calvin Johnson, WR
    • Round 2, Pick 19
Possession is Nine-Tenths of the Law

Calvin Johnson is expected to be a strong possession receiver this year, and his 89 projected catches rank seventh in the league.

    • Jordy Nelson, WR
    • Round 3, Pick 22
    Better Lucky Than Good?

The rest of Yahoo Public 240579 League overlooked a gem, and Dick's Dandy Team made the highest value pick of the round by taking Jordy Nelson.

    • Todd Gurley, RB
    • Round 4, Pick 39
    A Choice That Wasn't Exactly Data-Driven

According to projections, Todd Gurley will fall outside of the NFL top-20 in both rushing TDs (23rd with 5.3) and yards (29th with 816). Seems like Dick's Dandy Team just went with their gut on this one.

    • Drew Brees, QB
    • Round 5, Pick 42
    Blitzkrieg

Dick's Dandy Team drafted the most explosive QB in the league in Drew Brees. He's projected to drop bombs on DBs this year, to lead NFL QBs in plays over 40 yards with 12.8 and TDs over 40 yards with 4.9.

    • Rank 131, ADP 133
    • Mychal Rivera

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
