The GM of Poppa's Boyz 2 took the second overall pick and handled it like a seasoned professional. After putting their sweet drafting skills on display for the rest of the league, they're left with a squad that's projected to finish first in Pehawk's Karma 2014 League with a record of 11-2-0 (2,020 points). They aimed for having a roster with balance throughout, taking QB Matt Ryan (42nd overall), RBs Jamaal Charles (2nd) and Giovani Bernard (22nd), and WRs Julio Jones (19th) and Vincent Jackson (39th). They have the top group of RBs in the league, as they added Charles, Bernard and Pierre Thomas to their roster.

Poppa's Boyz 2 should use Week 9 to consider life's deeper mysteries, like why don't the pants worn by Dr. Bruce Banner rip when he transforms into the Hulk? It's better to think about that than pay attention to fantasy football. They have five players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Looking at the entire season, they have one of the weakest slates. Poppa's Boyz 2 has the opportunity to close with a hot streak, as the last four games of their season are projected to be less difficult than the league average.

Draft Notes

  • Highlight Reel

With five better-than-average positions on Poppa's Boyz 2, RB and DEF are projected as especially strong units.

  • Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

At three different positions, Poppa's Boyz 2 picked up projected top-two players (Jamaal Charles, Shayne Graham, and Tennessee).

  • Sky's the Limit

With four players projected to significantly beat their previous year's fantasy points, Poppa's Boyz 2 hopes to have found some up-and-coming stars.

  • Risk Averse

Poppa's Boyz 2 minimized risk by choosing seven consistent players among their 15 picks.

  • Better Late Than Never

Poppa's Boyz 2 finished on a high note, accumulating the most projected points in the league over the second half of the draft.

  • Super Sleepers

At picks No. 139 and 142, Poppa's Boyz 2 snagged a couple of late-round fliers with upside in Markus Wheaton and Shayne Graham.

Player Analysis

    • Jamaal Charles, RB
    • Round 1, Pick 2
Does Jamaal Charles Enjoy Gourmet Cuisine?

Because his projected yardage figures are tasty. Charles is ranked third in the league with 1,729 all-purpose yards.

    • Julio Jones, WR
    • Round 2, Pick 19
    Stolen In Broad Daylight

Julio Jones was the best value pick of the round and could be the cause of many sleepless nights for the other managers.

    • V. Jackson, WR
    • Round 4, Pick 39
    The Power of Persuasion

Now would be a reasonable time for Poppa's Boyz 2 to encourage the Pehawk's Karma 2014 League to increase the value of receptions. They grabbed Vincent Jackson and his 88 projected catches (ranked 10th in the NFL).

    • Matt Ryan, QB
    • Round 5, Pick 42
    Poppa's Boyz 2's Stud Signal-Caller

Matt Ryan is projected to rack up 702 points this year, enough to rank third among all QBs.

    • M. Crabtree, WR
    • Round 6, Pick 59
    Biggest Steal

Poppa's Boyz 2 may have found a gem in the sixth round, grabbing Michael Crabtree (59th overall pick vs. ADP of 48.8).

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
