Evansville Country proved on draft day that when the lights come on, they perform, building a strong team capable of beating anyone on the schedule. They are expected to finish first in 2014 NEBA Fantasy Football League with a record of 13-0-0 (3,102 points). With seven WRs on the roster, Evansville Country has a quality group of receivers; their WRs are projected to average 121 points this season, near the league average of 124. They have one of the highest-scoring RB pairs in the league, as they have Matt Forte and Arian Foster to carry the load.

While Week 9 has the most players on bye for Evansville Country (five), Week 4 is actually projected to have the team's highest amount of idle fantasy points. Looking at the season as a whole, they have one of the least challenging schedules. Evansville Country has the opportunity to exit the gates quickly, as the first four games of their season are projected to be less difficult than the league average.

Draft Notes

  • Assessing the Assets

RB is the strongest position for Evansville Country, though TE and DEF are also better than the league's average.

  • Defense Wins Championships?

Evansville Country chose to go with three DEFs instead of loading up at other spots.

  • Bargain Shopper

With four steals in the first 13 rounds (including Mason Crosby, Lavonte David, and Seattle), Evansville Country made some shrewd moves.

  • Single Serving

Going with just a single TE (Jason Witten) and K (Mason Crosby), Evansville Country opted to add depth at other positions.

  • Biggest Steal

If other Yahoo! users are right, Evansville Country got a steal in the 12th round, when they selected Mason Crosby (141st overall pick vs. ADP of 99.3).

  • Evansville Country Went All YOLO Here

Grabbing Lavonte David at pick 148 was, let's say, conceptually adventurous. David is owned on just a few rosters across all Yahoo! leagues.

Player Analysis

    • Matt Forte, RB
    • Round 1, Pick 4
    Does Matt Forte Enjoy Fajitas?

Because his total yardage figures are sizzling. Forte is projected to rank fourth in the league with 1,702 all-purpose yards.

    • Arian Foster, RB
    • Round 2, Pick 21
    Traditionalist

Evansville Country stuck to the tried-and-true fantasy strategy of going RB-RB to start the draft, nabbing Matt Forte and Arian Foster right off the bat.

    • Andrew Luck, QB
    • Round 3, Pick 28
    Rethinking That One?

Despite being an above-average player at his position, Andrew Luck was the weakest value pick of the round.

    • Russell Wilson, QB
    • Round 5, Pick 52
    That Just Happened

Why can't I find Russell Wilson on my draft cheat sheet? Oh wait, here he is under "mid-to-late round value."

    • Mike Wallace, WR
    • Round 6, Pick 69
Was the 69th Pick the Right Time for Mike Wallace?

Evansville Country apparently believes it is. The Dolphins' wide receiver is projected to earn 150 points this year, after putting up 134 last year.

Best Available

WR, the only subpar position on Evansville Country, is one area that could potentially be upgraded.

    • Jerricho Cotchery
    • Rank 183, ADP 125
    • Stevie Johnson
    • Rank 201, ADP 124
    • Eddie Royal
    • Rank 213, ADP 123
    • Brandon LaFell
    • Rank 214, ADP 125

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
