  • Bears ‘excited’ about Swift as pass catcher
Bears running backs coach Chad Morton said he’s “excited” about using D’Andre Swift as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

Advice: “I’ve been watching [Swift] since college,” said Morton, who worked under Bears OC Shane Waldron when Waldron coordinated the Seahawks’ offense. “He’s exciting to watch, man. That guy, he’s got so much ability. He’s fast, he can make guys miss and what we’re excited about now is just opening up the passing game with the backs. He’s got that opportunity to have that one-on-one matchup out of the backfield. We can get him out on empty (formation). We do a lot of empty stuff here, too, so we can move this guy all around. He can win from any spot.” Waldron’s offense didn’t exactly emphasize running back targets in Seattle. The Seahawks last year were 24th in target share to RBs (15 percent), with lead back Ken Walker seeing a meager 37 targets over 15 games. Swift, meanwhile, wasn’t an effective pass catcher last year in Philadelphia. He ranked 47th in running back yards per route run and was graded by Pro Football Focus as the NFL’s 49th best pass-catching RB.

  • Commanders to tryout WR Martavis Bryant
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports free agent WR Martavis Bryant is scheduled to work out for the Commanders Wednesday.

Advice: Bryant was last on the Cowboys’ practice squad for the 2023 season. The 32-year-old last played an NFL snap in 2018 for the Raiders, spending four seasons with the Steelers prior to that. He bounced around the XFL and fan-controlled football over the last few years and is now trying out for the Commanders to attempt a return to the NFL. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:00 pm

  • Outlook muddied after recent arrivals
Wilson has more competition for targets from quarterback Kyler Murray after the team selected Marvin Harrison fourth overall in this year's draft and then signed seven-year pro Zay Jones last week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Wilson spent much of the offseason No. 2, at best, in the pecking order in the Cardinals passing game behind tight end Trey McBride, but the recent additions leave Wilson's potential volume in the upcoming campaign up in the air. As a rookie third-round pick last year, Wilson put together a 38-565-3 line on 58 targets in 13 contests, but he produced just 13 catches (on 25 targets) for 164 yards and one touchdown in five outings with Murray under center. The arrival of the dynamic Harrison likely leaves Wilson fending for looks with Jones, who has three years with at least 500 receiving yards on his resume. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:56 pm

  • Finds new opportunity
Camp signed a contract with the Browns on Tuesday.

Advice: Camp bounced around multiple practice squads last season, including Carolina's, which he was waived from Friday. The Georgia Tech product will now work to make the most of his new opportunity in Cleveland after not being able to find his way onto an active NFL roster in 2023. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:00 pm

  • Lions GM says Jahmyr Gibbs will have bigger role
Pro Football Talk reports Lions GM Brad Holmes expects Jahmyr Gibbs will see more of a workload in 2024.

Advice: While you shouldn’t expect David Montgomery to completely fade away, Gibbs should get a larger share of the touches in 2024. “I definitely would expect him to see more of a load, but David Montgomery will still be here too,” Holmes said. Despite being out-touched by Montgomery, Gibbs still finished as RB10 in total fantasy points. More touches for Gibbs means he’s a realistic threat to be a top five running back in fantasy football this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:52 pm
