Congratulations to the new League Champion, Big Blue! Dilbert gave it a great run this year and earned his 2nd Place trophy. But the Blue guys fought through some major adversity to get to this point. Great job!

Congrats to this years' finalists: Dilbert and Big Blue. I believe this is Dilbert's first ever appearance in the League Finals, while Big Blue is a former champion making his first finals appearance in many years now. Good luck to you both, I think this is an excellent matchup in the finals, and I will be paying more attention this coming weekend than I did all season long. I fully expect it to go to the last minute of the last game.

WAIVERS - Currently, only Big Blue, Dilbert, Chaos, and Arby's are eligible for the waiver picks. Everybody else is able to pick up whomever they want AFTER all waivers process. I will reverse any transaction that does not comply with this rule.

Due to the fact that I will be out of town tomorrow, I am processing all trades tonight. This is done for one simple reason - Kevin traded for the Lions RB and I want him to be able to play him tomorrow. As normal protocol would have me processing trades in the AM anyway, this should not be a big deal. Everybody has seen the trades on the board as everybody is almost involved in one :)

I need a veteran of the league to step up - I think we have now set a new standard for most trades in a season, plus I think we also have our first ever trade involving a Kicker...great job by the Collusio...er, John and Andy.

There is a pending trade. I've had three people openly question it. For that reason, I am not processing it yet, as I'd like to see if anybody else comes out and says they don't like it. If that doesn't happen, the trade goes through on it's own. If I get majority, it gets vetoed. We haven't vetoed a trade here in YEARS, and I think it's a travesty that a trade regarding two non-difference makers like this is being questioned so hard...but to each his own.

There is a league functionality that we can and (in my opinion) should add for 2012: The IR spot. When a player is put on IR, he can be moved to the IR spot. What this does is allows you to keep a keeper on your squad without punishing yourself. In the case of this season, John would not be able to use the spot to keep Peyton Manning, because the Colts have not put him on IR. In the case of last season, Kevin would have been able to keep either Tony Romo or Dallas Clark on the IR and pick up another player - while still protecting his potential keeper. I don't think this has always been available, but I do know it is now. I cannot add it this year, it's not allowed, but I would like to open it up to a vote for next year. Majority rules, and it's only going to be ONE slot we're adding.

Our draft is scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, at approximately 6:30 PM. We will start to make our phone calls from CT at that point. I am assuming the LI team is meeting at Frank's house and that John has that number - also assuming that either John or Andy has the phone number for Doug, however I would appreciate it if you email me your number and a backup at laraiders75@yahoo.com - don't go through the league because my e-mail at work is turned off until our building deems it safe to power back up.
With safety being brought up, I do not expect to have any delays in drafting this week. However with that said, if anybody has a catastrophic problem such as power loss, home flooding, trees damaging the house or car, etc., remember guys...it's just a game. We can reschedule at some point, even if we had to do the live via Yahoo! draft like we did last year I would rather do it that way than to put any of our league members in a bad spot. Your family and property is more important than fantasy sports. Please just send me a note if something bad happens and I really REALLY hope that nothing happens for everybody's sake. DRAFT DATE: I know it's been discussed about 9/1 being a draft date but I've just found out that I am unavailable that day due to a work commitment. I can be available on 8/30, 8/31, and 9/6. Please let me know if any of those days work for all of you ASAP - VERY IMPORTANT!

OK - Cooler heads prevailed, everybody seemingly came to a good, fair, and equitable compromise. We are going to go with a $20 league fee, winner take all. So far I have nine votes for this - the only person I have not heard from is Doug - so the majority rules. I hope to hear from Doug soon, that way we can move forward with everything league related.
I am looking at having a "live draft" on Thursday, September 1. For those new people that don't know what I mean, prior to last year we all tried to get together in person to draft. It never fully worked for football, too hard to get people together with the time of the year. So what we try to do is meet in two common locations (one in CT, one in LI) and all draft together so that we have some fun and get to meet up with our competitors once a year. We then conference call the two locations and draft as though we were sitting together. In cases where this cannot happen, we can conference in or via cell phone work the draft room in that way. The MOST IMPORTANT thing I need to know is if anybody is NOT available for 9/1/11. We can't possibly draft live if somebody no-shows. We can work out logistics later, but please get back to me and let me know if 9/1 works for you.
Keepers will be announced one week prior to the draft,8/25/11 and at that point, the supplemental draft will begin. We post those picks to the board, there is no need to wait until draft night to make them. I would like to have the supplemental draft completed and in the books no later than end of business on Friday, 8/26 if at all possible. We can go over this more in the upcoming weeks.
I will post the draft order shortly, after confirming from Doug whether or not he has decided to return to the league.
Thanks to EVERYBODY. Last weekend was a bummer, but we got it behind us quickly and it seems like we're all juiced up for the season now. At least, I know I am. Good luck to all and talk to you more soon.

I have people that want to quit if we play for money, I have people that want to quit if we don't. We haven't even started playing yet and it's already a big problem, and I don't like problems at all. It's annoying as hell.
On one hand, I don't want money to ruin the league, but on the other, I never realized just how bored and tired people are of playing for free. Once upon a time, we played for money, and if I recall, we had a good time back then. It seemed a lot more lively too, and I think that we lost Mark, Shaver, and Festa in part because they were bored and not having fun at all because nothing was at stake. How far do bragging rights go in a fake sport? Not very far according to some of us...
Most of us all already play together in a "free" league, the Dilbert league, and I hope that continues. It's fun for me, there's no pressure and it's as casual as can get. I like that. But as much as I understand where Andy and Doug are coming from - I fully realize John and Frank's situation too. If we think that the Dilbert league should be the only free league and this one should be the pay league, who am I to say no? As Commissioner I need to keep an open mind and an open forum. It's preseason, this is when we make such decisions.
I cannot just grow replacement players for people that quit. To find somebody that fits in the league is difficult. We have two new members here that probably are looking at what's going on and wondering "why the hell did I sign on for this?". So we have to fix this quickly and put it behind us.
After reflecting on everything that has been done and said, my first instinct was to just pull the plug on the league. But I don't ever go with my first instinct, it's usually bad. Besides the fact that I like all of you, I like playing with you, and this is a league that is not going to die on my watch - no way, no how. So here is my proposition, with absolutely no personal feelings at stake: I can go either way here - I will play for money or I won't play for money ,and I'll be happy about it. To have a league, we need eight teams. I'll take it either way. Either we play for money or we don't, but I need eight teams or there is no league AND I am not going to ask anybody to leave, nor force them to. You will all have a choice, you play or you don't, and it's based on majority vote. So far, I believe I have the following:
NO MONEY PLAY: Andy, if we can get him back; Doug; Paul Perry
MONEY PLAY: John, Frank, Kevin, Frank's Son (Sorry but I don't know your name yet), Mike.
NO VOTE YET: Mooseman, Commish
So...as we stand, the majority is MONEY PLAY. But I don't have eight teams, only six, so there is currently no league. If you want to play, we need to find some common middle ground here or some new players. I'm all ears, because I don't know a ton of people that can replace anybody either way. If you indeed definitely do not want to play for money, I need to know with 100% certainty. And, if you definitely won't play if there's no money at stake, I need to know immediately. If we go back to eight teams, it goes by the OLD RULES - we play 2 QBs active each week. If we stick to ten teams, it's as we've been for the past couple years.
Please get in touch with me. Send an email, call me, whatever. We only have a couple weeks to figure this out. And my apology goes out to everybody that all of this has upset - I can tell you straight out, it's bothering me a lot right now.
