  • Meeting with Dallas Wednesday
Elliott's agent is meeting with the Cowboys in Dallas on Wednesday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.

Advice: This isn't the first time the two sides have been connected this offseason, as ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported last month that there was mutual interest in a reunion. The Cowboys lost Tony Pollard to the Titans in free agency and only added end-of-roster types Royce Freeman and Snoop Conner to a depth chart that includes Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn and Malik Davis. Elliott played in all 17 games for the Patriots last season, turning in a 184-642-3 rushing line while adding 51-313-2 as a receiver on 65 targets. Dallas will likely draft a running back this week. • Returning to Houston
Ogunbowale re-signed with the Texans on a one-year deal Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Advice: After stints in Washington, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville, Ogunbowale will enter his third straight season in Houston. Primarily used on offense as a third-down back, the journeyman tallied 53 total yards in 2023 while also notably converting on a 29-yard field goal attempt. He will presumably compete for the No. 3 spot on the running back depth chart behind Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:32 am

  • Should be ready for training camp
Dobbins (Achilles), who agreed to terms with the Chargers on Thursday, "should be" ready for training camp according to GM Joe Hortiz, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relayed last month that Dobbins -- who suffered a torn Achilles in Baltimore's regular-season opener in 2023 -- has been cleared for football activities, with previous reports having noted that the running back had resumed running this offseason. Based on the assessment of Hortiz on Thursday, Dobbins is still working his way back from his injury; however, if the 2020 second-rounder is able to return to form, he and Gus Edwards (who also came over from the Ravens in free agency) have a chance to provide an effective 1-2 punch in the Chargers' backfield in 2024 under the guidance of offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who both players worked with in Baltimore. • Nick Chubb (knee) has resumed running
Browns GM Andrew Berry said Nick Chubb (knee) started running last week.

Advice: As Berry stated, Chubb running is “not to say that he’s through the woods or anything, but he’s doing everything in his power [to return].” Everything remains wait-and-see with Chubb, who suffered a devastating knee injury in last season’s Week 2 contest against the Steelers. It was the second time Chubb was dealt a serious injury to that knee, with the previous injury coming during his college days at Georgia. Berry said Chubb has attacked his rehab “very aggressively,” but we likely won’t know much about his early-season availability until we get closer to training camp. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:52 am

  • Rashaad Penny visits Seahawks
Free agent RB Rashaad Penny visited the Seahawks Wednesday.

Advice: Penny spent last season with the Eagles, appearing in three games and getting 11 carries for 33 yards. His role was reduced in the Philly backfield after spending five seasons with the Seahawks. Penny visited his former team with a chance to rejoin a backfield that looks different from his last stint in Seattle. If Penny does join the Seahawks, he would back up Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet as a depth piece. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:05 pm

  • Bulks up during offseason
Achane appears to have added muscle to his frame through his workouts earlier this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.

Advice: A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much muscle he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at 188 pounds. Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a touchdown per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably prepare Achane with more of the backfield work in his second NFL season. • Cowboys sign Royce Freeman
Cowboys signed RB Royce Freeman, formerly of the Rams, to a one-year contract.

Advice: Freeman has bounced around the league in his six seasons, most recently spending 2023 with the Rams. He rushed 77 times for 319 yards and two touchdowns in a backup capacity, getting his most opportunities in Kyren Williams’ absence. The veteran now joins a sparse Cowboys backfield that currently has Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn as its top two running backs. Freeman’s signing should not take the Cowboys out of the running to add another back in this year’s draft. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:23 pm

  • Sticks in Green Bay as ERFA
The Packers re-signed Wilson on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: An undrafted rookie in 2023, Wilson made the Packers' initial 53-man roster following the preseason and even mixed into seven regular-season games, taking 14 carries for 85 yards and hauling in four of five targets for 23 yards while working behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Green Bay swapped out Jones for Josh Jacobs and also retained Dillon this offseason, meaning Wilson is poised for a similar role in the coming campaign, barring further additions to the backfield in free agency or the draft. • Lions re-sign running back Craig Reynolds
    Lions re-signed RB Craig Reynolds.

Advice: Reynolds was an exclusive rights free agent this offseason and will now return to battle for a spot on the team’s 53-man roster. The former UDFA has stuck around on the Lions for the last three seasons after previous stops in Washington and Jacksonville and has totaled 119-511-1 on the ground while adding another 22 catches for 218 yards since 2021. His contributions on special teams have been valuable in his efforts to make the team each of the last three seasons and will likely play a role in deciding whether or not he’s on the team in 2024.
