FREAKS Snatches Win from A-Team who Can't Shake Losing Streak

Week 9

  • 78.12 pts, 6-3
  • Weekly Grade
  • A-Team
  • 72.82 pts, 0-9
  • Weekly Grade

FREAKS, down 14.60 on Monday night, gave A-Team a glimmer of hope, then ripped it away and beat A-Team 78.12 to 72.82. FREAKS got 19.90 points from Jimmy Graham and 19.88 from the New York Jets Defense. A-Team has no more answers and is winless. For A-Team, Jameis Winston and the Green Bay Packers Defense played the roles of Maverick and Goose, scoring 20.78 and 17.88 points, respectively. With FREAKS delivering goose eggs from two of their starters, the margin could have been bigger. FREAKS (6-3, 879.89 points) remains in third place while A-Team (0-9, 775.44 points) stays locked in the cellar.

Smooth Moves by FREAKS

  • FREAKS scored massive brownie points with the Toyota Hall of Fame this week. Too bad brownie points don't count as real points. Not that you need help.
  • Best in the world: Jimmy Graham can claim that at least for one week after his 19.90 point performance. It was highest score for any TE this week, as well as the third-highest TE score in the league this season.
  • FREAKS won despite having only 1 of their 10 starters exceed their projected points.
  • Even with two starters scoring zero points, FREAKS was still able to win.
  • FREAKS won even though all three of their RBs failed to reach their projected points.

Toyota Roster Tune-up

  • Sometimes 72.82 is enough. Unfortunately, the Toyota Hall of Fame has confirmed this time it's a smaller number than 78.12.
  • Did not start Blake Bortles, who led the matchup in scoring with 26.45 points.
  • Blair Walsh was last on the team in scoring with 1.00 point against a projected 7.20 and has now underachieved in seven straight games.
  • A heated blanket would be a great gift for Coby Fleener during this cold streak. He scored below his projection in three straight games after scoring 3.35 points against a projected 4.36 this week.
  • The TE position was a letdown for A-Team, where they were outscored 19.90 - 3.35 by FREAKS.

What If

  • If FREAKS played A-Team every week, they'd be 6-3 this year.
  • Besides A-Team, FREAKS would have beaten only two other teams this week.
  • Had they played each other last week, FREAKS would have defeated A-Team 74.28 - 73.15.
  • FREAKS would be 1-7 if they played the same schedule as A-Team.
  • If FREAKS had played every team in the league each week, they would be 46-53.
  • A-Team would have lost to eight other teams besides FREAKS this week.
  • A-Team would be 3-5 if they played the same schedule as FREAKS.
  • A-Team would be 33-66 if they played every team every week.

Game Notes

  • FREAKS won by scoring 78.12 points, the lowest winning score in the league this season.
  • The 5.30-point win by FREAKS beat the 4.60-point spread.
  • Le'Veon Bell scored a season-low 5.43 points and underachieved for the third straight week.
  • With 3.50 points, FREAKS got the lowest combined scoring output from the WR position for any team this week.
  • FREAKS remains undefeated in comeback games this season, improving to 3-0.
  • A-Team stays buried in last place, where they have spent the entire season.
  • A-Team ranked 10th in the league in scoring this week.
  • Maybe pop in the tape of the best game of the season to feel better. Rashad Jennings had a season-low 2.69 points in the win against a projected 5.53 and scored below his projection for the fourth time this season.

Against the Raiders secondary, Foles tied an NFL record with 7 TD passes, a feat that has been achieved just eight times in NFL history. He would also complete 22-of-28 passes for 407 yards, contributing to what stands as the highest Week 9 fantasy effort by a QB since the AFL/NFL merger. Foles would finish the ’13 campaign with 27 TD passes and just two interceptions. In his 26 games played in ’12, ’14 and ’15, Foles totaled 26 TD passes and 25 interceptions.
