With Multiple Seahawks, Laces_out is Built to Win

Draft Summary

Watch out for Laces_out. Taking advantage of a solid draft spot (sixth overall), they built a team poised to do some damage in Belleville Boyz League. Laces_out is expected to finish second with a record of 10-3-0 (1,898 points). With their first five picks, Laces_out focused on a balanced offensive attack, selecting QB Derek Carr (62nd overall), RBs David Johnson (6th) and Devonta Freeman (34th), and WRs Mike Evans (23rd) and Eric Decker (51st). They ended up with the top group of RBs in the league, as they added Johnson, Freeman, and Ameer Abdullah.

Looks like somebody did their homework. With a draft like that, you could nominate yourself for the Toyota Hall Of Fame with your eyes closed. Go on, we dare you.

While Week 5 has the most players on bye for Laces_out (five), Week 9 is actually projected to have the team's highest number of idle fantasy points. Based on their opponents' projected points, they have one of the easiest slates. Along with the second-easiest overall schedule, both the first four games and last four games of the season are about league-average difficulty for Laces_out.

Draft Notes

  • The 12th Man Would be Proud

The fantasy hopes of Laces_out rest heavily on the fortunes of Russell Wilson and crew, as they loaded up with four Seahawks on their roster.

  • Good to Have Balance, Right?

While the bottom half of the Laces_out roster is one of the strongest in the league (projected to be No. 3), the top of the roster is among the weakest (ranked No. 13).

  • Bargain Shopper

With three steals in the first 10 rounds (Coby Fleener, Jimmy Graham, and Devonta Freeman), Laces_out made some shrewd moves.

  • Did Stretch Armstrong Make That Pick?

Grabbing Bobby Wagner at pick 191 was definitely a reach. Wagner is owned on just a handful of teams across all Yahoo! leagues.

Player Analysis

    • David Johnson, RB
    • Round 1, Pick 6
    Advanced Math

If Laces_out had a nickel for every time David Johnson is projected to touch the ball this season, they'd have 314 nickels.

    • Mike Evans, WR
    • Round 2, Pick 23
173 More Reasons to Appreciate Mike Evans

Evans ranks 10th in the Belleville Boyz League among WRs with 173 projected fantasy points.

    • D. Freeman, RB
    • Round 3, Pick 34
    Haters Gonna Hate

The rest of Belleville Boyz League overlooked a gem, and Laces_out made the swaggiest pick of the round by grabbing Devonta Freeman.

    • Derek Carr, QB
    • Round 5, Pick 62
Thanks for Clearing That Up, Terry

Terry Bradshaw once said, “I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid.” Laces_out hopes that drafting Derek Carr and his 29.7 projected passing TDs was a wise choice.

    • Tyler Lockett, WR
    • Round 6, Pick 79
    Returning to Greatness

If special teams contributions count in Belleville Boyz League, Laces_out may have found a gem in Tyler Lockett. Including his 754 projected return yards, he ranks sixth in the league with 1,607 all-purpose yards.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
