Knights Overwhelms Crusaders to Grab Eighth Place

Week 6

  • Knights
  • 137.82 pts, 3-3
  • Weekly Grade
  • Crusaders
  • 72.12 pts, 3-3
  • Weekly Grade

Knights demolished Crusaders 137.82 to 72.12, sniffing the record books in the process with the highest point total they've scored this season. This is the kind of victory the grandchildren will hear about. The 65.70-point margin of victory was the second-highest recorded in the league this season. For Crusaders, A.J. Green and Carson Palmer played the roles of Maverick and Goose, scoring 14.80 and 14.42 points, respectively. When assigning blame following this loss, Crusaders can look in the mirror. They started a player with zero points (Thomas Rawls). Knights (3-3, 699.12 points) climbs into eighth place and Crusaders (3-3, 666.62 points) drops to ninth place.

Smooth Moves by Knights

  • If this were a dream sequence, you'd hear a deep voice announce, "Knights, the Toyota Hall of Famer." But it's not.
  • The 40.12 points scored by Eli Manning was the second-highest QB score of the week and is the ninth-highest QB score in the league this season.
  • The 34.80 points scored by Golden Tate was the third-highest score by a WR in the league this week.
  • What do Apache helicopters, F-117 Nighthawks and Julio Jones have in common? They are all dangerous aerial weapons. He ranked fourth in the league in scoring among WRs this week with 28.90 points.
  • Apparently playing within themselves was good enough. Knights won despite having only 3 of their 9 starters exceed their projected points.

Toyota Roster Tune-up

  • Somehow, all of your players had two bye weeks this week. The Toyota Hall of Fame calls that a bye bye week. Yes, it's a bad joke, but it's still better than your score.
  • Well, that's embarrassing. Left Marcus Mariota on the bench, where he ranked ninth in the league in scoring with 35.76 points.
  • Did not start Christine Michael, who scored 23.30 points and beat his projected point total by a team-leading 77.1%.
  • This is how people lose everything in casinos. Crusaders thought their luck would change and went back to the well with Carson Palmer. However, he scored 14.42 points against a projected 25.40 and has now underachieved in three straight games.
  • 7 of the 9 starters scored less than their projected points.

What If

  • If Knights played Crusaders every week, they'd be 3-3 this season.
  • Knights would have beaten eight other teams besides Crusaders this week.
  • Knights would be 2-3 if they played the same schedule as Crusaders.
  • If Knights had played every team in the league each week, they would be 28-38.
  • Crusaders would have lost to every other team in the league this week.
  • Timing really is everything. Knights would have lost to Crusaders 79.50 - 63.66 had they played each other last week.
  • If they played the same schedule as Knights, Crusaders would be 2-3.
  • If they played every team every week, Crusaders would be 22-44.

Game Notes

  • Maybe the league is colluding against them. All three of the losses for Crusaders this season have come when their opponent scores higher than their season average.
  • Knights had three starters who scored more points than the highest-scoring starter for Crusaders.
  • The margin of victory of 65.70 points was the largest in the league this week and second-biggest in the league this season.
  • With 72.12 points, Crusaders was last in the league in scoring and had their lowest score of the season.
  • With 137.82 points, Knights had their highest score so far this season.
  • With a combined 73.50 points from their WRs, Knights got their highest combined scoring output from the WR position this season.
  • What good are running backs if they are running backwards instead of forwards? The 5.20 total points by the RBs on Crusaders was their smallest RB output this season.
  • Not going to name names, but some people here aren't pulling their weight. Forget it, Graham Gano needs to step it up! He scored 7.00 points against a projected 10.06 in the win, and has now scored below his projection in four straight games.

Fantasy MasterpiecesWeek 6

LaDainian Tomlinson SD - RB 2005 vs. Oakland 179 yards from scrimmage, 1 TD rush, 1 TD reception, 1 TD pass In his Week 6 contest against the Raiders in ’05, Tomlinson became just the seventh player in NFL history to throw for a TD, run for a TD and catch a TD pass in the same game.

And, while his effort stands as a great testament to LT’s all-around skills, it goes down as just the eighth-best fantasy performance by a running back since the AFL-NFL merger. In fact, Tomlinson managed to one-up himself in Week 6 in each of the following two seasons, rolling up 135 total yards and four scores against San Francisco in ’06, and 214 total yards and four touchdowns against Oakland (again) in ’07 – which stands as the top Week 6 RB fantasy performance.
Each week of the season we will bring you the top fantasy football performances of the past 10+ years for that week.
