  • Packers promote WR Max McCaffrey
Packers signed WR Max McCaffrey from the practice squad.

  • Christine Michael added to injury report
Packers added Christine Michael to the injury report as questionable with a back injury.

Advice: The timing suggests he suffered the injury late in the week. • 49ers looking at Falcons Nick Polk for GM?
Pro Football Talk believes Falcons director of football operations Nick Polk could be a candidate for the 49ers' vacant general manager position.

Advice: After both Eliot Wolf and Brian Gutekunst decided to stay with the Packers, the 49ers have to look further down their list. Vikings assistant GM George Paton would seem to be the favorite, but it makes sense for San Francisco to find someone presumptive coach Kyle Shanahan is comfortable working with. Polk, who has been with the Falcons for 12 seasons, could be that guy. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:08 am

  • Report: 49ers may go 'hard' after Cousins
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the 49ers would go "hard" after Kirk Cousins if he is available.

Advice: Even if the Redskins hit Cousins with another franchise tag, Schefter reports the 49ers may be willing to part with a trade package that includes the No. 2 overall pick to land the quarterback. With former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan almost certain to take over as head coach, Cousins would likely be open to a move to San Francisco. There is little doubt Washington will place the exclusive franchise tag on Cousins if the two sides cannot work out a long-term deal, but even that might not be the end of the saga. • C-Patt: I felt wanted by Vikings this season
Impending free agent Cordarrelle Patterson said he felt wanted by the Vikings this season.

Advice: Patterson said he "didn't feel wanted" by Minnesota during Mike Zimmer's first two years in charge and was focused on "trying to get out." Patterson had a change of heart this season, likely in no small part because he actually had a role on offense, and now wants to stay. Price will likely determine if the Vikings feel the same way, but they should be interested in keeping around a guy who has led the league in kick return average three of the last four seasons. • Tom Brady has thrown 19 TDs, 0 INTs vs Tomlin
Tom Brady has thrown 19 touchdowns and zero interceptions in six games against the Steelers with Mike Tomlin as the head coach.

Advice: Brady has also averaged 314.8 yards per game and owns a passer rating of 127.5 in those contests. This Steelers defense is better than some of the units Brady has faced in the past, but that kind of success is at least worth noting. With both Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan likely to be higher-owned, Brady could be a somewhat sneaky option in DFS this weekend. Rotoworld.com Today, 7:37 am

  • GM 'definitely' wants to re-sign Jack Doyle
Colts GM Ryan Grigson said he "definitely" wants to re-sign impending free agent TE Jack Doyle.

Advice: This, of course, assumes Grigson will still be the general manager, but it looks like he is safe at this point. Doyle had a breakout 2016, hauling in 59 passes for 584 yards and five touchdowns. All three numbers eclipsed his career totals entering the year. Doyle is not the type of dynamic receiving threat which commands big dollars on the open market, but he should be looking for more than the three-year, $13-million deal Brent Celek landed last January. Chiefs signed WR Seantavius Jones, OG Jordan Devey, QB Joel Stave, OT Joseph Cheek, DB Jimmy Hall, DT Cory Johnson, DE David King, LB Earl Okine, DB Julian Wilson, and FB Will Ratelle to reserve/future contracts.

Advice: Jones made some noise a couple training camps ago with the Saints, but he was waived by the Chiefs before final cuts last August. Scout.com's Ben Standig reports Rob Kelley underwent surgery on his right knee following Washington's season-ending loss to the Giants.

Advice: Kelley suffered the injury in Week 16, played with a brace against the Giants, and had the knee operated on shortly after the loss. A source told Standig the surgery was "relatively minor" and "dealt with the meniscus." • Julio 'limited' Friday, but will play vs Pack
Updating a previous item, the Falcons listed Julio Jones (toe) as "limited" in Friday's practice.

Advice: Julio was listed as DNP on Wednesday and Thursday. Early-Friday reports had him returning to a full practice, but Julio was officially limited. Either way, Julio is going to play against the Packers. While his health remains a lingering question mark, Julio's mere presence on the field -- even if for some reason he isn't heavily targeted -- is a massive boon to Atlanta's offense. Daily Slant: Jones is expected to be followed by Ladarius Gunter, who allowed Dez Bryant a 6/85/2 line in his coverage last weekend. However, his use as a scorer limits his ceiling. Atlanta has an arsenal of playmakers and as a result, Jones has scored seven touchdowns this year. That's a 17% share of his team’s receiving scores whereas Antonio Brown’s 14 is a 40% share. In addition to Jones’ injury, this could be a useful tiebreaker when deciding between the two, especially in cash games. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 12:42 pm

  • Julio Jones (toe) will be full go for Sunday
Julio Jones (toe) returned to a full practice on Friday.

Advice: Coach Dan Quinn said he looked good and won't have any limitations in Sunday's NFC Championship Game versus Green Bay. That's good to hear after Jones played just 58.3 percent of the team's offensive snaps in last week's win over Seattle. Jones had a tough time when he faced the Packers in Week 8, securing just 3-of-5 targets for 29 yards in the Falcons' one-point victory. Packers DC Dom Capers sold out to stop Jones, a tactic Capers may be uncomfortable repeating with the emergence of so many other weapons in Atlanta's offense. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:19 am

Jordy Nelson (ribs) participated without pads in Thursday's practice.

Advice: It means he hasn't been cleared for contact. He remained "limited" on the injury report, which has him ahead of Davante Adams (ankle) and Geronimo Allison (hamstring). Coach Mike McCarthy indicated Thursday that both Adams and Allison will likely suit up against the Falcons. Nelson's status isn't clear, but he's certainly giving himself a shot to be active for the biggest game of the season. If Nelson does play, he obviously won't be in for his usual complement of snaps. Advice: Demovsky adds Nelson "has a chance to play...but it's only a small chance." The receiver suffered broken ribs in the Wild Card Round, an injury which often requires a full month before a player even thinks about returning. • Packers stun Cowboys in thriller at Jerry's World
Aaron Rodgers completed 28-of-43 passes for 356 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while adding two carries for 16 yards Sunday in the Packers' Divisional Round win over the Cowboys.

Advice: What. A. Game. After a first round full of clunkers and an equally snooze-inducing first two games of the Divisional Round, Dallas and Green Bay finally brought the thunder on Sunday afternoon. Rodgers has been scorching hot for two months and he didn’t let up in Sunday’s stunning upset at Jerry World. He scored the game’s first touchdown on a picture-perfect 34-yard throw to Richard Rodgers and added to his tally with a three-yarder to Jared Cook off play-action early in the second half. Rodgers threw an uncharacteristic interception on a pass intended for Davante Adams, ending a streak of 318 consecutive passes without a pick. But Rodgers saved the best for last, threading the needle to Cook for a 36-yard completion in the closing seconds to set up the game-winning field goal. Advice: Nelson was on the field before Sunday's game against Dallas and has his sights set on playing in the NFC Championship. Of course, that would require the Packers to beat a Dallas team they already lost to once this season. • Tom Brady picked off twice as Pats advance
Tom Brady completed 18-of-38 passes for 287 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Patriots' Divisional Round win over the Texans.

Advice: He took only two sacks, but got hit eight times by a talented Texans pass rush. The Patriots played up-tempo offense and attacked the Texans’ linebackers, safeties, and slot CB Kareem Jackson in pass coverage. Brady hit Dion Lewis and James White for scores, both on route concepts targeting Texans ILB Bernadrick McKinney. Between the twenties, Julian Edelman ate Jackson for lunch. Both of Brady's interceptions came off deflected passes in a fairly ugly performance despite the lopsided score (34-16). • Jordy Nelson ruled out for Divisional Round
Jordy Nelson (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday night's Divisional Round game against the Cowboys.

Advice: As expected. Nelson hasn't practiced at all this week and is dealing with multiple rib fractures. He'll be reevaluated next week if the Packers advance to the NFC title game. Geronimo Allison will handle No. 3 receiver duties, and more will be asked of Davante Adams out wide and Randall Cobb inside. Daily Slant: Aaron Rodgers' production suffered last year without Nelson, he averaged 239.6 yards and 1.94 touchdowns per game. Across the 2014 and 2016 seasons, when Nelson played every week, Rodgers threw for 273.8 yards and 2.44 scores. However, Davante Adams improved tremendously this season; he caught 12 touchdowns this year after scoring just once 2015. This should help prevent a similar dip in Rodgers’ production, but it may be worth pivoting to a cheaper option like Matt Ryan, who has a healthy receiving corps and the best offense in the game.
