  • Report: Fins want clarity before Watson trade
The Houston Chronicle reported on Tuesday that the Dolphins and Texans have agreed to terms on a trade for QB Deshaun Watson, but the Dolphins want clarity on his legal issues before going through with it.

Advice: That means there is no timeline on when Watson could be a Dolphin, as there is no end in sight for his legal issues. Regardless, it's interesting to confirm that there have been talks and potentially even an agreement between the two sides on a deal to send Watson to Miami, even if nothing is imminent on account of the accusations levied toward the quarterback. • Goodell: Not enough info to make Watson decision
Speaking Tuesday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league does not have the necessary information to put Texans QB Deshaun Watson on the commissioner's exempt list.

Advice: That confirms Watson is eligible to play if he were to be traded, as has been the rumor around the league over the past week (and past few months, to be frank). The league appears to want no part of the Watson investigation, and it's one of the strangest situations in recent memory with Goodell and the NFL refusing to take action. There is no end in sight for this saga. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 4:33 pm

  • Report: 'Expectation is' MVS plays on Thursday
PFF's Doug Kyed reports the "current expectation is" that Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling will be activated off injured reserve and play in Week 8 against the Cardinals.

Advice: It would be much-needed news for the Packers, who will be without Davante Adams and Allen Lazard (both on COVID list) against the NFL's final remaining unbeaten team. Valdes-Scantling would immediately be the WR1 for Aaron Rodgers by default and could step into a big air yards spot. It's always risky to start a player fresh off a hamstring injury, but Valdes-Scantling could have a tantalizing role. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 4:06 pm

  • Chargers waive K Tristan Vizcaino
    Chargers waived K Tristan Vizcaino.

Advice: The Chargers never seemed to fully trust Vizcaino, and he didn’t give them much reason to, as he only converted 10-of-15 extra point tries across six games. Los Angeles brought in former Washington kicker Dustin Hopkins to replace Vizcaino. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 3:40 pm

  • Chargers sign K Dustin Hopkins
    Chargers signed K Dustin Hopkins.

Advice: The Chargers’ kicking woes this season have been evident, most notably when they forwent a potential game-winning field goal attempt against the Chiefs to go for it on 4th-and-8. Hopkins looks to solve that problem. The veteran kicker converted 12-of-14 field goals and 10-of-12 extra points across six games for Washington this season. Broncos designated TE Albert Okwuegbunam (hamstring) to return from injured reserve.

Advice: Okwuegbunam caught nine passes for 57 yards and a touchdown on nearly half of the team's offensive snaps before landing on injured reserve ahead of Week 5. Both he and Jerry Jeudy (ankle) could return to the lineup as early as Week 8 against Washington. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 2:52 pm

DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) remained sidelined for Tuesday's practice.

Dolphins signed RB Duke Johnson to the practice squad.

Advice: Johnson hasn't been on an active roster since being released from Houston in February, joining Jacksonville's practice squad for 10 days before being cut. Although he offers an entirely different skillset than what Malcolm Brown (quad, IR) brought to the table, it's possible Johnson is promoted at some point to give the Dolphins a third option in their backfield. • 'Hope' that Valdes-Scantling returns for TNF
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said there is "hope" WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (hamstring, IR) returns for Week 8 against the Cardinals.

Advice: "Absolutely there's hope for that," LaFleur responded when asked about Valdes-Scantling's status for Thursday night. "We'll see. I know he's out there running today, and we'll see how he feels tomorrow. I know he's working hard. He wants to be out there." Davante Adams' and Allen Lazard's recent trips to the COVID list may force the issue to bring Valdes-Scantling back sooner than expected. Raiders released WR Willie Snead.

Advice: Snead “wasn’t playing much and asked for the release,” per his agent Drew Rosenhaus. • Welp: Lazard joins Davante Adams on COVID list
Packers placed WR Allen Lazard on the reserve/COVID list.

Advice: Lazard is out for Week 8 against the Cardinals. He'll join Davante Adams, who was placed on the team's COVID list Monday afternoon. With Marquez Valdes-Scantling (hamstring, IR) merely "hopeful" to return for Thursday night, the Packers will prep for life with Randall Cobb, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Amari Rodgers in three-wide sets and Robert Tonyan carrying the load at tight end. The organization could also promote Juwann Winfree or Chris Blair from the practice squad mid-week. It's a disastrous situation for a team already in intensive protocol ahead of Week 8. • Jeudy (ankle) to play in Week 8 against Washington
Jerry Jeudy (ankle) will be available for Week 8 against Washington.

Advice: Coach Vic Fangio suggested as much ahead of Thursday's loss, stating he did not "believe it was fair to put [Jeudy] out without any practice" against Cleveland. Potential limitations in his first game since Week 1 is a slight concern, but Jeudy should slide into most fantasy lineups as a WR3/4 (for the time being) in a plus matchup against Washington's secondary, which has allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts. Teddy Bridgewater will also reportedly be a full participant in practice ahead of Week 8. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 11:09 am

  • PHI beat: Jordan Howard could play in Week 8
The Athletic's Zach Berman said Jordan Howard could be activated from the Eagles' practice squad and play in Week 8 against the Lions.

Advice: With Miles Sanders (ankle) considered a long shot to suit up this week, Berman believes Howard will make the team's game day roster and could get some carries against Detroit. "I don’t think they’ll rely entirely on the Kenny Gainwell-Boston Scott combination in Sanders’ absence," Berman said. "They’ll look for more between-the-tackles runs from Howard — if they run the ball, that is." Howard holds zero fantasy appeal, but could eat into Boston Scott's early-down role -- and potential goal line role -- with Sanders sidelined. The Eagles, despite head coach Nick Sirriani's weekly chatter about establishing the run, have the league's 11th highest pass rate over expectation. Kenneth Gainwell, who commanded eight targets last week, will maintain his hold on pass-catching duties in Sanders' absence.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 11:07 am

  • RB coach on Stevenson's Week 8 status: 'We'll see'
Patriots running backs coach Ivan Fears said Rhamondre Stevenson's game day status will be a week-to-week decision.

Advice: Stevenson missed a block in Week 6 that led to a sack and was made inactive for New England's Week 7 game against the Jets. He had excelled with precious little opportunity the prior week against the Cowboys, gaining 62 yards on eight touches, including three receptions. He also scored a short touchdown against Dallas. Fears said Stevenson's game day status will hinge on his practice performance during the week, saying it would come down to activating the rookie or J.J. Taylor, who has also made costly mistake this year. Damien Harris remains the team's primary ball carrier whether or not Stevenson is active.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 9:32 am

  • Saleh has 'a lot of faith' in Mike White
Jets coach Robert Saleh said he has "a lot of faith" in fill-in starter Mike White.

Advice: Forced into the game because of Zach Wilson's knee injury, White threw a touchdown on his first attempt against the Patriots, but things went downhill from there. He finished with 202 yards and two interceptions in addition to that touchdown. With Wilson out for at least two weeks, it looks like White will get the first crack at the starting job even after the Jets traded for Joe Flacco on Monday. Advice: Dawson Knox is scheduled to miss at least a couple of games due to a broken hand, leaving Sweeney as the only other tight end on the active roster. That will certainly change before the Bills suit up against the Dolphins on Sunday, but Sweeney has the inside track on a job that has made Knox the TE3 this season. • Beat: Minshew could start at some point in '21
The Athletic's Bo Wulf said he "would be surprised at this point if we don’t see [Gardner] Minshew start some games this season."

Advice: The Eagles continue grappling for an offensive identity, starting a dual-threat quarterback for whom the coaching staff won't design unique game plans. Amid Philadelphia's weekly offensive struggles, Wulf said head coach Nick Sirriani "needs to back [Jalen] Hurts completely until he’s ready to make a move, even if he’s considering it behind the scenes. But if Hurts continues to regress, the Eagles will owe it to themselves to give Minshew a look. The reasons you outlined are true, although I do think there’s value in evaluating Minshew as the Eagles move into the offseason." Hurts has gotten by for fantasy purposes thanks to garbage time production -- both through the air and on the ground. His overall numbers leave quite a bit to be desired though. Hurts' 7.1 yards per attempt is 22nd among all QBs; his adjusted completion rate is 29th; and his completion rate while under pressure (31 percent) ranks 31st. Superflex managers should consider adding Minshew sooner rather than later.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 8:10 am

  • DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) estimated DNP Monday
DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) did not practice Monday.

Advice: Hopkins is no stranger to sitting out practice early in the week so it's not time to panic yet. This practice report is also just an estimation as teams playing on Thursday get Mondays off. Arizona tees off against the Packers in the first game of Week 8. • RapSheet: 'Good chance' Watson is traded by Nov. 2
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there's a "good chance" Deshaun Watson is traded by the NFL's November 2 trade deadline.

Advice: Rapoport confirmed reports that the Texans have "been engaged [in trade talks] with multiple teams" in recent days. The Dolphins and Panthers are both interested in acquiring Watson, who faces sexual assault allegations from more than 20 women. With the Panthers likely ready to move on from Sam Darnold -- who was benched in Week 7 -- and the Dolphins souring on Tua Tagovailoa's lack of development, it could come down to which franchise is willing to take on the ferocious public relations blowback that would come with acquiring Watson. NBC Sports' Peter King reported Monday that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross "is not pushing his football people to deal for Watson right now."  Rapoport said Watson is in "good shape" and could play immediately upon being traded. • Lazard (5/60/1) scores in back-to-back games
Allen Lazard caught 5-of-6 targets for 60 yards and a score in Green Bay's Week 7 win over Washington.

Advice: All five of Lazard's receptions came on the same drive to close the second quarter, capping that possession with a 10-yard touchdown to put the Packers up 14-7. It's the second consecutive game Lazard accrued at least a 17% target share, eating into Davante Adams' 39.8% target share from Weeks 2-5 in back-to-back games. • Nuk Hopkins goes 7-53-1 on nine targets vs. Texans
DeAndre Hopkins caught 7-of-9 targets for 53 yards and one touchdown in the Cardinals' Week 7 win over the Texans.

Advice: In his first game against his former team since the David Johnson swap, Hopkins paced Arizona with his nine targets and seven catches, scoring from one yard out in the second quarter. Everybody knew the Cardinals were going to do everything they could to get Hopkins a touchdown against the Texans. Hopkins now has four touchdowns over his last three games and seven on the year ahead of a Thursday night tilt with the Packers in Week 8. The yards haven't been there this year, as Hopkins has yet to have a 100-yard outing, but he remains a red-zone dominator as a WR1/2. NBCSportsEDGE.com Sunday, 4:25 pm

  • Panthers now 'expected to be involved' on Watson
Citing "league and team sources," Joe Person of The Athletic reports the Panthers are expected to be involved in trade discussions for Deshaun Watson.

Advice: The Dolphins have been the team most connected to Watson ahead of the November 2 trade deadline, but with Sam Darnold reverting to his Jets form the last few weeks before ultimately being benched after producing three points against the Giants in Week 7, the Panthers now see a need to look past Darnold for their quarterback of the present and future. • Glazer: Dolphins 'very heavily engaged' on Watson
FOX's Jay Glazer reports the Dolphins are "very heavily engaged" on Deshaun Watson, and that the Texans are telling other teams "you've got to beat Miami's offer."

Advice: The Miami Herald has confirmed the Dolphins "continue to pursue" Watson. Glazer reports the Texans are still seeking "at least" three first-rounders and two additional picks. The Dolphins would simply have to be out of their minds to surrender anywhere near that for a player still dealing with 22 unresolved sexual assault allegations, and frankly should not be giving up anything until there is some sort of resolution to Watson's off-the-field issues. They seem pot committed to this awful move, however, having been meaningfully connected for months now. Of course, it still seems most Watson rumors are emanating from Houston. Taylor is active this week and should get some receiving work. The Patriots backfield continues to be completely unpredictable behind Damien Harris. Jerry Jeudy (ankle) has already been medically cleared and is fully expected to return for Week 8 against Washington.

Advice: The word comes via coach Vic Fangio. The Broncos, understandably, did not "believe it was fair to put him out without any practice" against the Browns on Thursday. We already knew that Jeudy got in a "solid pre-game workout." Barring a setback he will be locked and loaded against the Football Team after previously not playing since Week 1. Advice: NFL Network's James Palmer reports Jeudy "got a solid workout pregame" before Thursday evening's game against the Browns, and that the "expectation is for him to go next Sunday." Jeudy has been sidelined since suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 1. He had caught 6-of-7 targets for 72 yards before going down. Advice: Person confirms the sides actually did have talks, but that they were "not considered substantial." As usual, this latest round of Watson rumors seem entirely driven by the team, quarterback himself or both. With Watson's off-the-field issues anything but settled, an NFL team would have to be insane to take the trade plunge right now. Advice: Jeudy was designed to return from injured reserve a day before the Broncos' Week 6 game, but that still gives him 21 days to be officially activated. The most recent report on him was that a Week 8 return was the team's target. Denver gets a short turnaround this week as they'll square off with Cleveland on Thursday, all but ensuring that he'll remain sidelined. • Hopkins (3-55-2) scores twice in win over Browns
DeAndre Hopkins caught 3-of-4 targets for 55 yards and two touchdowns in the Cardinals' Week 6 win over the Browns.

Advice: With six receiving touchdowns on the year, Hopkins has now matched his scoring total from 2020. He's also one score away from tying his 2019 total. The touchdowns are doing a lot of legwork for his fantasy production because he still hasn't hit 100 yards or caught more than six passes in a game. He fell behind Chrisitan Kirk and A.J. Green in targets this week. Those two saw eight and six looks respectively. Both players caught a touchdown as well. Hopkins' target share now sits at 19 percent. Since 2015, his lowest target share is 26 percent. Hopkins remains in the WR1 conversation but his volume leaves a lot to be desired. • Stevenson totals 62 yards, TD on eight touches
Rhamondre Stevenson rushed five times for 23 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' Week 6 overtime loss to the Cowboys, adding three receptions for 39 additional yards.

Advice: The eight touches were actually three fewer than Stevenson handled in Week 5, though the 62 yards from scrimmage nearly doubled his previous season total. The two big plays were a 22-yard reception in the first quarter and one-yard touchdown in the fourth. For the reception, Stevenson ran a receiver's route and got free down the seam. The score only came after Damien Harris had to limp off the field in the midst of a heater, but Stevenson cashed it in all the same. The receptions are very good to see, since that is simply not a part of Harris' game. With James White done for the season with a hip injury, catching the ball will be Stevenson's ticket to consistent fantasy value behind Harris.
